Joy in the Journey: A Celebration of Life, Girls Camp and Birthday Month!

Whew! I’m FINALLY back from my chaotic schedule! Sorry about the lack of blogging this past week but I literally haven’t been home.

1. I had the opportunity to celebrate the life of my sweet Uncle Hubert this past weekend in Marshall, Missouri. He is my mom’s older brother and farmed the land where my grandma raised her family (my grandpa died when my mom was six). It was wonderful being with extended family and attending the services for this wonderful man. His burial site was in the same small cemetery where many aunts, uncles, and my grandparents are buried. It was tender to spend some time by my grandma and grandpa’s graves and reminisce about their lives.

This is a view of my mom’s farm growing up. She was born in the white house to the left  of the white barn:

My family also had the opportunity to celebrate the marriage of my niece, Mallory:

Just had to show you a shot of the back of Brecken’s hair. Fabulous! Also–check out my cute nephew on the left. I love this kid! He always has fun with life and truly feels good in his own skin!

I was in the delivery room when Mallory was born and it seems like just yesterday. That was quite the story. I was in charge of taking photos since her dad couldn’t be there and right when she was “appearing,” I accidentally pushed the wrong button and rewound the film! I asked the doctor to wait for a few minutes and ran to the pink lady desk. She just happened to have an extra roll of film and saved the day. And, I got back in the room just in the nick of time and captured the shot!!!

It was super special that my parents, particularly my dad in his fragile state, was able to attend the wedding ceremony.

2. This week I attended our congregation’s girls camp and both Sage and Brecken attended. The theme was CIA–Celestial Intelligence Association. Let me just say it was a fun, spiritual week. Oh how I love these girls!
