Back from Canada and Spring Cleaning!

I just got back this morning from Sunny Calgary Canada (yes--they ordered perfect weather just for me!). What a great time! I was lucky to be a guest at both Education, Eh? (for retailers) and Camp Croppin' (for consumers). All I can say is Canada has some FANTASTIC scrapbookers. I was blown away with the creativity. And--I went to Scrapbooker's Paradise in Calgary and couldn't believe how stocked the shelves were! Wish I lived nearby. Also, loved all the Canadian manufacturers products. Thanks to Leslie Lee (president of Scrapbook, Eh? Wholesale), City TV (I was on two segments with Allison--she's awesome) and everyone else for making me feel so welcome. If you ever get the chance to attend one of these events, be sure to go! Well worth the time, money and effort. And--I loved hanging out with former Hall of Famers Kerri Bradford, Cindy Schow and Heather Lancaster.

So--I gave up a day at Banff (I'm planning to go next summer with my family) so I could could be home with my family. I arrived back in Utah around 10:30 a.m. and was excited it was such a nice day (in the 60s). I had picnic and park on the brain, when I drove into my driveway and discovered my husband had taken on the MASSIVE project of cleaning the garage. A little part (okay, big) wanted to drive off, go back to Canada and enjoy the day with my friends in Banff. This wasn't the way I'd envisioned spending the day. Instead I rolled up my sleeves and worked with my family on getting the back garage cleaned. Honestly--it was so bad that we could have been robbed and never known anything was gone (however I doubt a robber would have been able to navigate around the garage--such a mess). After a long day of work, we all felt so good about what we'd accomplished. It's totally clean and I feel so free from all the clutter. So--in the end a really great day.

I had to snap of shot of Steve and Kade working side by side. Steve's almost 6'3" and as you can see, Kade's right there with him. I didn't realize how tall he was. And--I'm super proud of my hubby. He's still on his "whole foods" eating program and has lost 20 pounds. Check out his shirt! My sister gave these to us for Christmas.

And--couldn't resist shooting Sage and her friend Krisha enjoying the warm weather. Spring is my favorite time of year. After a long, cold winter here in Utah, it is definitely a much needed break.

Hope you're having a great Saturday!

Sincerely,
Lisa B.

Clearing the clutter and getting organized is such a great feeling, isn't it!

I had the same "I didn't realize you were that tall" with my 16 year old this morning...he has now passed me by 4 inches! Yikes, when did that slip pass me?

Glad you are home safe and sound.

Calgary is such a pretty city! Love it HEY! Love to go there again someday.

Hey, if your interested....we have 2 garages that need "MAJOR" cleaning. Send your crew this way would ya???~hee~

I can't motivate my Dh to clean his garages for the life of me. I wish I could come home and see him working on the garages. We need that team from one of those shows from HGTV to come organize it all for us. My biggest pet peeve is my Dh garages and how he keeps them so messy. UGH! Help in MN please!

I noticed your Dh has lost weight with that diet. I have to get my Dh on that too. He's a big guy too (Tall) so he needs a major change in his diet. Looks like that diet plan works. I wish I could convince my Dh to give up the meat. I doubt he would? I will show him your pixs maybe that will convince him? Here's hoping!

I'm with you Lisa - Spring is such a wonderful season! I LOVE spring cleaning! Actually, I LOVE cleaning and organizing any time of year, but in the spring we usually have a rummage sale at our church, so I am so happy to give so much away for a good cause!!

Hi Lisa!

I am glad to hear you made it home safe and sound! I met you this weekend in Calgary and thought I would check out your Blog! I wanted to take a moment to let you know that you truely inspired not only myself; but the other gals I spent the weekend with. And in meeting speaking with a lot of the other ladies there, you certainly left an impression! I am glad you enjoyed your short stay in Canada - and you will be welcomed back anytime! You have planted wonderful seeds that I am sure are going to flourish into even more fantastic creations by the scrapbookers that attended Camp Croppin! You have made up see our lives from a whole new perspective! I truely appreciate the opportunity I had to sit in and hear your touching presentation! I am off now to unpack myself and get working on those memories & stories I don't want to slip away!

Take Care

Hiya Lisa !

It was great chatting with you at the LSS during the BT morning show Friday. You made the early morning crop party ( 6am to 10am ) that much more fun.

I was so inspired by your speech and the power of journaling that I started my very 1st journal yesterday.

Here’s to making our 100 years of memories last in the hearts of our families for 100’s of years to come ! Thank you.

Rae

PS. There is still room on the Cruise for you ;)

Lisa, I'm interested in your schedule for next year. Do you do any events other than CKU events? Is there some way to contact you?

I meant to comment on this story the other day and got sidetracked. Loved hearing about your Canada outing, Lisa, but the first thought that came to mind when I saw the pictures was: "Oooh, Sage is so beautiful..." and then, "MAN!!! KADE IS SO TALL!!!" Lisa, he's going to be growing through age 21! And he already looks like he's just a shade taller than Steve! He is one handsome young man--those Utah girls are so lucky to have him in their state. ha.ha.! Oh yeah, thanks for making us feel guilty about having cluttered garages :) I've been meaning to have a garage sale for over a year now and there's about a 1/4 of our garage taken up with "stuff". My husband is ready to pitch every bit of it. Then last week we had a young guy come out from DirecTV to install DVR or something (just now entering into the new millenium). He asked me if I was going to get rid of some of our things in the pile like a Baby Jogger and an old rug, dishes, etc. I told him to take whatever he wanted for himself and his family. It felt so good giving that stuff away. He was so appreciative. (You know he wouldn't have asked if he didn't really need it). We're now going to box the rest of it up and take it to our local outreach store. Someone needs those things more than we need garage sale money. (And my husband is so excited about getting his garage back!) Thanks for sharing!

Holy cow! I looked at the picture before reading the blog entry. I thought, "Kade is so TALL." and "Whoa! Steve is so THIN." Even from the beginning of 2007 pictures, you can see the difference. If you don't mind answering me with an e-mail when you get the time, I'm wondering if he's on a specific program, or just low fat vegan wholefoods in general? I've been toying with the idea of going vegan since December. I've got my own 20 pounds to lose!
