You Can Help!

Okay--so two days ago I wrote that I was going to share my "perfect day ever" in Florida (last Saturday). Here is a photo from that day--we went to the beach in New Smyrna (sp?), Florida. Watching my children and our friend's two girls play for hours together in the sand was incredible (I even joined in the fun). My greatest joy is watching my family have fun together.

Okay--so who watched American Idol last night?? So many shocking moments--Elvis and Celine singing a duet together and Jordin (my favorite) being tricked into thinking she was getting kicked off. However, the most shocking moments were the stories about homeless, sick, starving children around the world who are living in the worst conditions imaginable. This especially hit home since I just autographed several hundred cookbooks for a fundraiser for a Haiti orphanage fundraiser under the direction of Natasha and Mark Hixon, founders of Quickutz. The Hixons are in the process of adopting three children from Haiti. They've been to Haiti several times and seeing the horrible conditions in which children are barely surviving, they wanted to help. Together with the Quickutz team, the Hixons have created an incredible recipe book--available at your scrapbook store (or you can go to quickutz.com/kidsfromhaiti) for $20.00. All proceeds will go to the orphanage. I purchased 50 of these cookbooks myself and loved the recipes and wonderful photos inside.

So--what am I going to do with 50 cookbooks? I'm going out of town for nine days (speaking in Toledo, Ohion on Saturday, visiting Amish Country with my sisters next week, then QVC on Saturday), but when I return I'll concoct some type of contest so 25 lucky scrapbookers will receive a cookbook.

Also, please keep a friend in your prayers. Jen Gallagher (an amazing scrapbooker--she does a lot of work for my QVC show) is battling a wicked cancer with her 12-year-old son, Joey. They just found out it's terminal and he doesn't have much time to live. Jen and her family are simply amazing--they are so courageous during this very challenging time. Read her blog at
http://jengallacher.blogspot.com. I know she appreciates your love and support. You can help the Gallacher family by visiting this website: http://www.benefitforjen.blogspot.com

Have a great weekend and count your many blessings.

Lisa B.

I just read Jen's story - it is so heartbreaking. It makes you realize that life can change in an instant. And, even though we have all heard and said it before, it is SO important to cherish each day and live it to the fullest!

Lisa, your blog continues to be an inspiration and a blessing to me as I raise my two little girls. One of my dreams is that I meet you someday and let you know how much you have inspired me!

God's blessings.

Hi Lisa

Jen's story is so heartbreaking!! I don't even know what to say! My husband is a cancer survivor, I feel blessed - but know the heartbreak when that doesn't happen! My prayers go out to Jen and her family!! Cherish everyday!!

Thank you so much for all the inspiration, Lisa!!
I was suppose to attend your seminar tomorrow in Ohio - but my son came home sick and so I can't leave him with the sitter. I am in tears because I was so excited for this event, but my son needs me. I hope to have the opportunity again someday to meet you!! You are so uplifting!! Do you know if they are video-taping your speech - I would love to hear it yet!

Enjoy the time with your mom and sisters.

God Bless!

Cindy

I have been keeping up with Jen's story. No mother or child should have to go through this. My prayers are with her and her family.

Jen's story is a heart breaker.

I just wanted you to know that I just sent my sister's sister-in-law one of the 'thinking of you' accordion album/cards from your kit. She is in stage 4 breast cancer and is determined to not give in for her sake and her 5 year old daughter and all her students. (she is an awesome teacher). I hope it brings a smile to her face during this tough time.

I'm sorry to leave this post here, where it is inappropriate, but I have a suggestion, and I don't know where else to submit it! I LOVE your mega chipboard kit, however, I don't need chipboard letters / alphabets. I'm a Cricut owner, so I don't need alphabets ever again. Anyway, if you ever do a chipboard kit again, could you think about doing shapes, hardware, scallops, borders, etc. ONLY? It would be a GREAT kit! I just wanted to suggest that, and I'm so sorry if I shouldn't have done that here.

I cannot wait until Saturday! The coaster kit and your 4th QVC book are calling my name! Love it!

Thanks!

Lisa - thank you for making us aware of Jen's needs. I was happy to help out, wish I could have done more.

I have looked for a way to e-mail you or contact you, and am unable to find it, so I am leaving this here...sorry if not the proper place to post this.

I am wondering how I can purchase the other scrapbook kits you have in your favorites...I did the one All About Me - however, I would like to do the others and put them in the large box, as you have them. So, I would need the "Celebrating You", "Family Moments" and "Year in Review". Are these still available? Thank you for any help you can give me on this, I really enjoyed the All About Me album.

Bonjour Lisa.

I'm always very annoyed,
as I'm unemployed for 3 years or so, & as I've got no money at all,
I can't help people as I'd like to do,
and it is so much people to help I'd like doing things for them, as for Simon (autism), for Jen, etc etc etc...

How can we help all these people???
Is there another way to help???

Have a bonne journée,
and Joyeux NSD, Lisa.

Hi Lisa,

I wanted to let you know a couple of things . . . first off, I thought you were great (as usual) on QVC. I love watching the demonstrations and layouts. You work very well with Leah, and David is ALWAYS so amusing. I'm impressed with his scrapbooking knowledge! (I wish I could get that new Cricut font WITHOUT buying a new Cricut!!)

More importantly, I also wanted to tell you that when you showed the Joey Gallacher layout today on QVC, I almost cried. It was so touching and overwhelming. I really don't have anything else to say. It's just so sad.

I just felt compelled to post about that particular layout. Thanks.

Hey Lisa!

First of all, thank you for all the work you did on QVC. I taped the shows since my husbands golf watching took priority but from what I have seen you did great.

I was also wondering about the album series someone mentioned a few comments ago: "I would need the "Celebrating You", "Family Moments" and "Year in Review". Are these still available?"

Can I have the information for these too?

Thank you
