"Best Quote" Contest!
Hello Friends!
Wow--lots of changes this week. Probably the biggest is I had 5 inches cut off my hair. It's weird how liberating shorter hair feels--no more tedious blow drying or curling! (Sage also got this same haircut!) Also, a big change is happening at CK and I've been a little emotional this week about it. I'll let you know about this change at the first of next week.
Okay--so a couple of weeks ago my family was in Florida staying with some friends and their new puppy wet on the floor and everyone was stepping in it thinking it was just water. This was spread throughout the house (yuck!). It was Sunday morning and we were rushing off to church. When we got in the car, my friend, Eric, had a little melt down. But then he suddenly changed his attitude and said, "It's just a cricket." We were all puzzled? He then explained how crickets chirp at night and bother you but there's not a darn thing you can do about it. So, why let them bother you in the first place if there's nothing you can do? I loved this so much that I've been saying ever since, "It's just a cricket!" This is my new favorite quote!
So tonight I had to say this saying over and over--"It's just a cricket!" I bought acrylic paints and brushes for Sage to paint her own wooden stool. She was so excited all day--she'd picked her own colors at Michael's. We set up shop outside on the back padio and I sat across the table to give her a little company. Next thing I know red paint is all over my new favorite tan American Eagle pants (how did that happen--I was sitting across from her?). Why didn't I get washable paint? I sprayed stain remover on the spots and scrubbed them with detergent. Then I washed them and the red paint is still in the pants. Please, please, please give me some ideas on how to get those ugly spots out. They are soaking right now in the sink. However, I didn't let it ruin the fun we were having and kept reminding myself "It's only a cricket."
So, what is your favorite saying or quote that makes you handle situations better? Leave it here on my blog by midnight on May 14th (along with your e-mail address). I'll choose my 25 favorites and send the winner the new Quickutz Cookbook (see post below as well) autographed by Natasha Hixon (founder of Quickutz) and myself. Plus--I'll throw in another little goodie! This is going to be fun--I love unique quotes!!
Have a great rest of the week and remember--"It's only a cricket!"
Love ya,
Lisa B.

Lisa, I have two favorite quotes that my mother said to us while we were growing up. The first is my ALL TIME favorite. Here goes, Now, Mary, "Rich people stay rich by acting poor and poor people stay poor by acting rich". This quote has been with me for as long as I can remember - like only my WHOLE life. The other mom quote that I just LOVE is "you're only bored if you let yourself be bored". If we ever said "mom, I'm bored, we got a lecture including the quote above then we were either put to work or bed which ever helped change our "attitude" -the best - usually work won. Now that I am a mom, I find (to my horror and amusement) that I say both of these to MY kids!!!
"Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well."
--Josh Billings
I strongly believe that you have to take what life gives you... and it is up to you to decide what to do from there. You always have a choice... :-)

My favorite quote: "Looks like a journal experience."
This is my favorite quote by Joseph Jaworski: "People are not really afraid of dying. They're afraid of never have lived, not ever having deeply considered their life's higher purpose, and not ever having stepped into that purpose and at least tried to make a difference in this world".
For me this was an eye-opener and I faced my fears, let them go and I went for my dream!

"no use crying over spilled milk!"
growing up we (my 7 siblings and i)would hear this so often said by my dad (who turned 85 this april!) which is funny because he grew up during the depression and always told stories about how "poor" they were (family of 11!) i always thought his parents had to have a great outlook on life to have said that! so whenever we say that today i am always reminded about my dad and that things really aren't that bad . and just a side note milk here is over $3 a gallon!!

God only gives you what he knows you can handle. I have been living my life with this quote in my head since I was 19. When things get tough, I know I am able to handle it!

My current favorite quote is "What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?" I don't even drink coffee, but I bought a coffee cup while I was in NYC because it had that quote on it and it really struck me. I keep that cup on top of my computer monitor at work as a constant reminder to keep trying new things and to not be afraid of stepping outside of the box.
My favorite saying is one I heard about 18 years ago. It is still the motto here in our home. "The scriptures never say, 'It came to stay.' They always say, 'It came to pass.' And this too shall pass."
Kathy
"It is always summer inside my body," said by my 6 yr old son David in response to his wanting to wear shorts to church in 20 degree weather.
My other favorite is by my eldest son, "If I were a dog, I'd wag my tail." He usually not very witty - more serious - and said this while I was giving him a back rub.
Totally love children's quotes - so honest!!
My faves are IT WILL BE OVER BEFORE YOU KNOW IT and DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT UNTIL YOU HAVE TO. My dh was in the Marines for 13 years (got out a year ago), and we went through many deployments, including 1 where he was due back when 9/11 happened and a year in Iraq (with him having close calls and losing friends) in 05. The first one has been my mantra since he joined the Marines. The second one came about when I was pregnant with my son (over 6 years ago) and I ended up in the ER a few days after finding out I was expecting...the doctors told me that I was losing him because there was no heartbeat. I'm happy to say that he's 6-1/2 now. when I was pregnant the 2nd time, I lost 20 lbs and was sooo sick the WHOLE time. Those mantras got me through. My daughter will be celebrating birthday #3 in June. The great thing is they fit every situation.
P.S. Loving the new do!

Lisa,
My favorite quote is: The worst that can happen is they can say YES!
To me this means that once someone says yes to something it must happen and you have to change. Prior to that point it is not worth fretting about the change that may not happen.

Lisa,
I am an elementary school teacher and my favourite quote for the students is "Big deal banana peel, get over it."

My favrotie quote these days is
"Love what comes; love what goes."
It means accepting whatever comes into your life, whether it be good or bad, and then loving the things that leave your life- a friend that moves or a challenge that you have finally overcome.
your haircut is so cute, lisa! i've been toying with the idea of getting a cute cut like that for the summer.
my husband said something yesterday that stuck as we were contemplating whether or not to buy two plane tickets to visit our family tomorrow for a couple of days---"it's just money". sure it's a big chunk of change for us to be spending since i am a grad student and intern at a non-profit, and he is a first year resident, but we haven't seen our famiiles in a while, he doesn't usually get this kind of time off, and in the end, it's just money!
For your paint stain, try Grandma's spot remover, we get it at our local ben franklins and it works wonderfully. You can also try rubbing alcohol. Put paper towels behind the spot and saturate with the alcohol and then blot with cotton balls. Good luck.
My favorite saying
" A grateful heart is a great place to start"

My new favorite quote is:
Simple is Good--by Jim Henson
I find that i tend to complicate my life too much. i'm reaching for a perfect existence that is really going to just drive me batty. so, simple is good and can be wonderful and perfect.
One of our favorite quotes: "In 2 weeks it won't matter". Usually when something "big" happens in your life and you feel like you are going to have a total meltdown - 2 weeks later you don't even remember why you were so upset.
tammyscraps@gmail.com
Don't worry, Be happy!
The quote I say when things don't seem to be going right is "Things Happen for a Reason." It reminds me that I am not in control and sometimes when it seems like a bad thing is happening, it turns out to be a Blessing.
I heard this one again yesterday, and it reminded me how much I like it:
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." ~Dr. Seuss
Isn't it true?? I think I care way too much what those who don't matter think! Sending happy thoughts your way...
Love the cricket saying. The one we use around our house is "You can't fight crazy". As odd as this sounds, it always makes us laugh and we realize that things aren't nearly as bad as they could be. Love your hair!!

The best quote I ever heard was from one of the Directors of Residence Life I had while in college. It actually follows along with the "cricket" quote.
When everything in life seems to be getting to you, and even the littlest things seem to be plotting against you - "Q-TIP"! Q-TIP means Quit Taking It Personally.
Example: The newspaper boy did not throw your morning news into the mud puddle because he has a grudge against you - he just has bad aim, so Q-TIP!
No thoughts on your painted pants - similar thing happened to my husband. We were using this paint or tinted wood stain to make some ornaments that would serve as the favors for our wedding reception, and he got the paint/stain on some khaki shorts. The orange spots are still there, 3+ years and many washings later.
If perchance you choose my quote, my email address is laurel_burns@hotmail.com.
Thanks!
Never give up on a dream
Just because of the time
It will take to accomplish it.
The time will pass anyway
I don't know who said it, but it is the quote that I lead my life by.
Thanks for letting me share it.

Twenty something years ago, I went thru a break-in in my apartment. At the time I was a single parent. So at the time of the break-in, it was just my 2 kids (ages 6 & 3)and I asleep at 3:30 a.m. There was also an assault involved. Needless to say, I was a mess afterwards both physically, mentally and emotionally. I was in therapy for a while. The thing that gets me thru to this day is very similar to your "it's just a cricket". THIS TOO SHALL PASS.
That phrase has made a world of difference in my life and I give it to everyone I know when they're in some momentary or life changing mess. There are times when it seems that an awful situation will never end. But it does. It will pass and we will be on to the next life lesson.
This too shall pass. And may I add, Thank God that it does!

I love this idea!!
Whenever my sister and I were sad or upset about something, my mom would comfort us and say not to worry because "this too shall pass".
I think about this often now - it's one of my favorite memories of my mom, who passed away in 2005.

One quote that I love is when Scarlett O'Hara says "Tomorrow is another day". I love this! I just know that I can get through the day knowing that tomorrow will be another day. I find this quote useful when thinking about my son who is serving a mission in Brazil. "Tomorrow is another day" and one more day closer to when he comes home after serving honorably for 2 years.
The saying I always use in hard situations is "This too shall pass." I always think that there will come a time when I shall feel perfectly happy again and the experience will be chalked up to just that...an experience I learned from.

Lisa,
My quote is something that my husband and I always laugh about. If you have ever seen Jeff Foxworthly in the Blue Collar Comedy tour then you will know the full joke. Whenever I ask my husband a question that he can't answer without getting into trouble he will say "I can barely see it in this light". Ok, let me explain, in the movie Jeff Foxworthy talks about his wife asking if her butt looks big in this outfit and his anwser is alway "No, I can barely see it in this light" So my husband and I always laugh and he gets out of whatever crazy thing I'm asking.
Thanks for this fun contest.

Hi Lisa. As for you stains try QVC's Henry's stain remover or Krud Kutter sold at Home Depot. Both are amazing products. Henry's is safe on all fabrics and Krud Kutter takes old dried paint off of carpets so could be ok for clothes.Stainz-R-Out is another good one(HSN). I love quotes, too. My favs are:"If raising children was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called labor."and "When you think the world has turned it's back on you take another look" Thanks for always being an inspiration. "For every worry under the sun,
there is a remedy, or there is none. If there be one then hurry and find it...if there be none then never mind it!" - Legrand Richards
I memorized this quote as a child and it has helped me SO many times to keep things in perspective when the challenges of life stress me out.

My favorite quote especially when I am frustrated about a person's particular behavior is to remember what David Gale said in The Life of David Gale (true story with Kevin Spacey). Everyone's life has meaning and is significant, it's just easy to forget sometimes when we get wrapped up in our own lives & focus on what we are doing.
"Because in the way end the only way we can measure the value of the significance of our own lives is by valuing the lives of others" - David Gale

I love this one by Neal A. Maxwell. "Life cannot be both faith-filled and stress-free." It helps me keep my perspective, realizing that I can get through the trials and 'stresses' with faith.
I love your shorter hair, that will be great for summer.
When not so good things happen, I remind myself that if this is the worst thing that happens today, life is pretty darned good! Everyone has bad days, but in the big picture of things...life is pretty good.
Hi Lisa,
My mom instilled in her children this favorite saying: If you can't say anything nice about someone, then it's best to say nothing at all. It's worked for me in my life many times.

My favorite is a quote on a counted cross-stitch that I have of Christ saying, "I never said it would be easy, I said it would be worth it." This has gotten me through many situations through the years. It is applicable to almost every event.
My favorite quote I heard while doing Weight Watchers "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels". When I feel myself ready to overindulge, I think of that quote and put things back in perspective...and away from my mouth!!!! Thanks for another fun contest! and love your hair!!

My favorite quote is "You can always make more money, but you can NEVER make more TIME". And the one thing we always want, no matter what stage of life we're in , is more time....Take the TIME to visit a friend, drive someone to their doctor appts, scrapbook a memory etc.
My most helpful quote from Weight Watchers. "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels". Love your hair!
I'll have to go with me and my husband's favorite quote, It Is What It Is. He is forever telling me, when it's something that I can't change, like rain right before an outdoor wedding reception, that's what he says. It makes me feel tons better, because it is what it is and I can't change a thing.

Lisa, my favorite quote is: Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
Viktor E. Frankl
This quote reinforces that you can always choose how to react in any situation and it is that choice that determines the outcome.

My favorite quote is from my mother-in-law:
People are like fingers on a hand, everyone of them is different. We need to appreciate how unique each one is and how the different characterists of each adds beauty to the whole hand.

Hi Lisa-
I do know how to get out acrylic paint! I used to teach decorative painting classes, and write decorative painting books, and over time I've taken paint out of a lot of stuff!!! Rubbing alcohol removes acrylic paint, even after it has dried. If there is still some color staining from the red dye, you could try a product called "punch out" by Don Aslett Cleaning Supply (you might need to check the web to find the Don Aslett site, and give htem a call, as the name for "punch out" might have changed). I have had friends get red kool aid out of carpet with the punch out, and know it works!
Good luck!!!
Sara:)
Rubbing alcohol. Soak the area of the pants with the paint and itshould start to scrub out with a scrubby pad. Though never tried this with red craft paint but it works like a charm on latex.
My favorite quote is "today's the day" Mel Fisher searched for the spanish galleon "The Atocha" for over 16 years. He lost his son during that search and many thought he would never find it and the treasure it held. Everyday, no matter how bad it was or how far he felt from his dream of finding it, he'd say "Today's the day". On July 20, 1985...it was the day. The quote and the story gives me inspiration, hope, and the lesson that hard work & believing in yourself and your dreams pays off. You never know what today brings for you.
I am a huge Albert Einstein fan and bought a little book called "The Quotable Einstein" and the one I had in my email signature for a while was "I have no special gift; I am only passionately curious." (Albert Einstein)

Worrying about things over which you have no control wastes time and creates its own enemy.
My mom had this on her bulletin board over her desk, and I have often repeated it to myself when I start feeling frantic about things beyond my control! Makes me remember to let go if I can't do anything about a situation!

Hi Lisa!
I came across this quote recently and loved it! It's credited to Josh Groban- one of my favorite singers of all time!
"There's no half-singing in the shower, you're either a rock star or an opera diva!"
I laughed and thought it was adorable and now everytime I'm in the shower I remember that I am a ROCK STAR!

Read it on a fortune cookie: "A contended person is never poor."
Well, as an Army wife I get lots of tough and stressful and last minute things thrown my way. In my life, though, I have already successfully dealt with many hard times and sad events. When something begins to stress me out I try to tell myself, "If you can make it through ______ you can make it through this!!" Works for me!
My favorite quote is "Mouse Trap". I know it sounds crazy, but just like the board game where the little plastic cage drops over the mouse and catches him, when he least expects it. Well, things happen in life all the time, like spills, things breaking, etc. so when things go totally wrong at my house, I just say "Mouse Trap".

My mother always says "Be ye kind, one to another." When I was younger, and my sisters and I were being mean or arguing, all she had to say was "Be ye kind..." and we had to finish the rest. It made me groan, but now that I've moved out on my own, I smile when I think about it. And I even have my bfriend saying it as well! :)

I want them to always stay true to themselves and not get caught up in a "moment".
Hi Lisa! Greetings from a fellow scrapper in Canada. I LOVE your new hair. I found this quote on a friend's website, not sure if she made it up or found it somewhere, but I love it:
"In life, take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back"

I just have to say that I thought the quote "this too shall pass" was unique to my mom. I was thoroughly suprised, and delighted, to see that quote quite often in these comments!

Your haircut is adorable!
BTW, we're going nuts on the CKMB about these new changes you're referring to. Just so you know...none of us will be sleeping until you spill the beans.
For the pants I would use the OxyClean Spray. Spray it on there and wash them immediately. I have left a couple of this soaking overnight and it turned colors, but this stuff works...
Sometimes a quote might not be funny to other people like the one I have.. My best friend and I share it together all the time..the quote "It's Not Your Peas". The reason is b/c my friend and her dad were shelling green peas and she was telling her dad all about her friends problems and he said to her "It's Not Your Peas Carrie...meaning, Ain't none of your business. So now when we talk on the phone (which is Everyday) we always say "Not your Peas". I love it b/c it's our lil thing....
Love ya Lisa...

Mine doesn't really help me deal with situations better mainly because I am not married yet, but it is my favorite quote, and I love sharing it with people. It's from the movie Shall We Dance :
"We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness'."
hope you like it.
When I was growing up my family decided we needed a family motto. I don't remember who came up with it, but our family motto was "Remember the banana." Basically it means that just like bananas, which grow in bunches, our family should stick together. So whenever we have a falling out of sorts over anything, we always come back to "Remember the banana."

"Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death"
quote from Auntie Mame
My college aged sister was killed by a drunk driver when I was 9. Many years later I was going through some things & found a bunch of quotes that she had obviously had posted in her room. This was one of them & I love it. I've tried to keep it my philosophy towards life.... life IS a banquet!
This is from my all time favorite movie. Lots of memories of my sister and I watching it and crying our eyes out-at least once a month.

All these many years later I still use the quote my Mother told me when faced with a not so fun cleaning job:

"Give them the pickle!"
This comes from a customer service video I watched during orientation at the hospital where I work. It was made by a man who owned a resturant with really good pickles. Often people would ask for more and he would charge for them. People were so irate they threatened not to come back. So, he decided to give the additional pickles for no additional cost as a simple way to make them happy.
So, working in a busy pharmacy, we often have nurses asking us to do stuff that we don't necessarily have to do for them. So I just say "Give them the pickle!" A simple way to make someones day by doing a small simple favor.
Well my family's newest quote is " Boobalicious". This comes from the fact that my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer eariler this year and well she is not thrilled with the word cancer so we made this word up. Her Doctors think we are crazy but it puts a smile on her face and she laughs. So now when one of us even the men folk do something silly , or wrong or just whatever we laugh and tell them they are "Boobalicious" and everyone laughs. I guess you kinda need to be there. We are really that geeky just a loving family who likes to see each other smile. We feel in times like this humor can be the best remedy.

My 90 year old friend continually told me "It will all work out in the end". and it does. Of course my favorite quote is by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. "Well behaved women rarely make history".

When we were kids my grandpa had a funny thing he use to say everytime we got hurt (ie scratched cheek, scraped knee) to make us feel better. I would be crying because blood would be coming out of my elbow and my Grandpa would say, "Oh! You're bleeding! Is rice coming out yet?" Being that rice was a daily part of all our meals, I really did believe that rice would come out if I kept bleeding. So I would put pressure on the bleeding to make it stop AND every once in a while, take a peek to make sure rice wasn't coming out. It totally made me forget that I was crying in the first place!
I hadn't remembered that memory until now. Thanks for making me think of that - I need to scrapbook this memory while I still remember :-)

Well, my quote is acutally something my 3-year old daughter said to me. Of course, like many husbands out there, mine thinks it is funny to teach my daughter words that "mommy doesn't like." (you know like fart, and other gross words!) Well one day, with company over of course, my daughter passed gas. My husband, trying to seize the moment to get a laugh from everyone, said "did you just fart?" My daughters reply, "No Daddy, girls don't fart. I just burped out my butt!"
I know a gross story, but a very unique quote!!!
This gem is from my husband:

First, "FOR THE LOVE!!" That's what I say when I'm frustrated. I have no idea where it came from, but its something nice to say when I'm not feeling too nice. :-) Its really funny to hear my 2 year old son and my 3 year old neice say it.
The second is "GOD IS IN THE DETAILS." (as in the details of our lives) Right now I'm stressed out about finding the next member of our family (hoping to adopt another baby...so if any of you know of a possible adoption situation...) but know that it all works out in the end as it should. God knows each of us personally and is in charge of our lives, and I just have to remember that and trust that it will work out as it should.
Thanks,
Shelby

My unique quote that makes me handle situations better actually came from my 3 year old daughter. Its not a quote that I will necessarly repeat to everyone, but I makes me laugh and remember what is really important in life and not to get so upset about the little things. My husband knows that I don't like the word "fart" and thinks it is very funny to get my daughter to say it. I, of course, tell my daughter that girls do not say that word. One day, with family over of course, my daughter passed gas. My husband, jumping at the chance to get my daughter to say "the word" asks her "Did you just fart?" My daughter's reply??? "No Daddy, girls don't say that word. I just burped out my butt!" I know it's not your typical quote, but everytime she says it, I just have to laugh!
"Anything worth having is worth waiting for." That's probably one of my favorite sayings of all time. I heard it years ago when I was only in high school. It's helped me through lots of changes in my life.
smatea2000@yahoo.com
My husband taught me this one:
"It's like putting lipstick on a pig!"
We say that when referencing anything that "looks" pretty or harmless or good, but is really evil, bad for you, or harmful in some way. You can dress up a pig, but it's still going to wallow in the mud! :)
I'm amazed that with all your money, you're worried about your pants. Don't rich people just go buy new ones?
My BF always says there are two rules in life. 1. Don't worry about the small stuff. 2. It's all small stuff. My worrywart DD and her mother need to hear that pretty often. But my all time favorite quote comes from my three year old grandson, Jayden. The whole family had taken a day trip together and we were driving home. Completely out of the blue, he looked at his aunt and said, "Hey Batgirl, what that blue guy doing?" Believe me, that quote madew it to the scrapbook page :o)

When I was 35 years old, I had cancer. Someone who worked with my husband that I had never met, sent me this quote in a little frame "Prayer is the place where burdens change shoulders." During the past 11 years, I have looked at that little framed quote many times, said a silent prayer, and visualized the weight of whatever I was worried about being lifted away. This month, my son was deployed to Afghanistan and I took the quote off of the bookshelf and put it next to his picture to help me remember that it's all in God's hands now.

My son came home from kindergarten one day saying, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!"
I love it and with 4 kids it gets used a lot.

I like this one...
"I smile because you are my sister, I laugh because there's nothing you can do about it!"
I forget where I saw it but it fits my son and daughter so well. I've been waiting for the perfect photo to scrap with the quote.

This quote comes from my son who loves to shop as much as any girl I know. "But Mom, money has no meaning until you spend it." It usually doesn't work for him but he does have a point.

My favorite quote of all time comes from a man with a lot of fantastic quotes: Mark Twain.
He said, "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."
This is the quote I always think of when someone makes a disparaging remark about my dreams & wishes. It reminds me that I can do anything I want.
My favorite quote comes straight from the bible -
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Prov. 3:5&6
To me, this verse gives me strength when things seem to be spinning out of control. I need to remember, that GOD, not I, is in control. All I have to do is trust Him and follow His will for my life. He has my best interests at the center of His heart and He won't let me down.
I live by two sayins...."No Worries!" and "It is what it is!" Sometimes they are used in conjunction with each other. I have two nephews with Muscular Dystrophy and my other nephew has Autism so my husband and I try to take life lightly because we have beeen blessed with 3 BEAUTIFUL and healthy children. I thnak God all the time for this and also live every moment upbeat and laughing as much as I can with my nephews.
It certainly makes you cherish the smallest of blessings, things we generally take for granted.
Have a wonderful Day and God Bless!

Love your new haircut!! Sorry, I don't have any idea how to get the paint off your pants. Good Luck! Let us know if you find something that works!
My favorite quote is "Home is where they Love You".
We have this hanging by our back door. It is hung there so whenever we leave or come home you see it. I want my family, especially the kids, to know that no matter what - HOME - is the place that they are loved unconditionally!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY everyone!!!

I once interviewed a woman who was CEO of a major healthcare organization, and had three young children. I asked her, "How do you balance it all?"
I will never forget her answer:
"I'm not in search of balance. I'm in search of sanity."
Five years later, those words still ring in my head when I'm getting stressed about "doing it all!"

My favorite quote is by Mother Theresa. She said "I know God won't give me anything I can't handle; I just wish He didn't trust me so much." I discovered this quote when I was in college and had cancer. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease when I was 20 and was in remission 9 months later. That was 13 years ago, and this quote still holds so much meaning and inspiration for me.

i have two favourites... one is inspirational from hockey great - wayne gretzky: "you miss 100% of the shots you never take."
And the other is from my granny - "it's like putting lipstick on a pig" - in reference to just dressing something up and not fixing the real problem.

Hi, Lisa--really like the new look. I'm a long hair person myself and can never get up the nerve to cut it off, but seeing your result, it sure makes me think about it!!
So my quote is more of a little anecdote, of a story of my Dad's from when he was little: when he was a boy, he used to go to mass on Sundays with his mom and dad and enjoyed singing the hymns. He told his mother one day that his "most favourite one of all" was the one about the Bear.
My grandmother turned to him and said "the hymn about the Bear? Sweetie, there are no hymns about a bear."
To which he replied "Sure there is, Mom! The one about "Gladly, the Cross-Eyed Bear"!!!" (Gladly the Cross I'd Bear)
That story is a nice reminder for me about how it's all in the way we see (or hear ;) things and how we chose to react to what happens "to" us. About how easy it is to misinterpret those things, and most importantly, that a good dose of humor (I visualise that cross-eyed bear!) always helps.
The other one I sometimes use is to ask myself the rhetorical question: "Will this matter in 100 years!?"
best wishes, lisa mitchell

I have a habit of switching topics randomly in the middle of conversations, or out of nowhere I will talk about whatever has just popped into my head.
My husband started lovingly referring to it as pulling a "Shilo". (my name)
So from now on whenever any of us starts talking about things that don't make any sense or that come out of nowhere we will say to each other "You just pulled a Shilo."
My husband has also said this to people he works with and his friends.
It is one of those things that no matter what you may be talking about, those words always make me giggle. It's nice to have something that can ease an intense conversation or even arguments.

My favorite saying is: "If money can fix it, it's not a real problem."
This saying is so true -- the little pesky problems of life (flat tire, leaky roofs etc) can be fixed with money. Real problems, such as divorce, death, illness, etc. can not be fixed with money. This saying really puts things in perspective for me!!

HI Lisa,
My favorite saying, that keeps me from getting upset at the small things is "in the scheme of things how does this impact my life" and then I think about life in general. I usually will just say "in the scheme of things" and it gets me focused to what really matters.
Thanks so much Lisa for sharing yourself with us!

Love this quote from Vince Lombardi:
"Winners never quit and quitters never win." It can be applied to so many situations we deal with daily.

Great hair day, Lisa!!! I Love It!!! A quote I think of quite often is from my very patient and loving grandmother who has 11 children and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Whenever she hears someone complaining about their children or hears someone who is irritated with their children about normal, everyday stuff she says quietly, "They should've bought a doll..." I think of it myself when I'm going ballistic and thinking, "Did I sign up for this?" (Yes, I did....and I should've bought a doll!) hee.hee :) lonjackat@yahoo.com
It's so difficult to narrow it down to two! I've been a collector of quotes since I was about 12 years old! But the three (sorry!!!) That stick with me the most are:
I like fireworks, but the stars is nice, too." this was said by a NYC taxi-cab driver when asked of his thoughts of eternal perspective... AMAZING!
"It's better to be a first-rate version of yourself than a second-rate version of somebody else. -- Judy Garland
and my NEW all-time favorite quote that constantly reminds about what truly is important in life...
"To Live content within small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common-- this is my symphony." - William Henry Channing

P.S.- Usually this works if you do it right off the bat with a stain, but my grandmother always taught me boiling water will lick a hard the best of'em!
I just remembered...a good friend of mine from church uses something by Melaleuca called Sol-U-Mel that she says removes permanent marker, fingernail polish, paint, etc. from walls, fabric, or whatever. (No chemicals or bleach either). She loves it and says it really and truly works. It's worth a try for your fave pants!!!
Mine is something I say at work to people who get stressed about deadlines, etc. I work on remodels. I say, "it's a grocery store, not brain surgery. If we make a mistake, we can go back and fix it."
My mantra for anytime something is not going the way I would like is "I am a duck!" Of course you must wave your hands from the top of your head down the sides of your body while you are saying it (that adds to the total effect). In essence, it means that 'I am going to let this roll right off me like water rolls off a duck, and not get crabby or upset or bothered by it!'. I say this at least once a week, and it usually helps me laugh about something when I want to cry.

By the way, Happy Mother's Day everyone!

One of my favorites when my son was growing up was always Practise Makes Perfect. If he had problems doing something we always let him know that the more he did it, the easier it would get.
I also have held on to the quote God never puts more on your plate than you can handle during the difficult times in my life. Although at times I wished that I had a smaller plate.

One of my favorite quotes is something I tell my 2 boys (9 & 5) every day...

My favorite quote is one I learned from the music teachers that come to our school. The preschoolers get to use instruments and accessories and always want the red one or the blue one. So we sing;
"You take what you get and you don't complain." We do it over and over and the children are happy even if they get the yellow one. You can use that in all aspects of life. It can really help you get through a tough day.
I love your hair!!! what a fun summer "doo"
I own a local scrapbooking store and once opened and hosting frequent crop's, girl sit and contemplate all nite on what ribbon and what rub-on. I typically am heard saying "Is this the last decision you are ever going to make?"
My dad always told me that growing up, meaning, take the plunge, its not life or death and it isn't going to be the last thing we do.

I read all the comments and had to come back. I have written on Lisa's blog before that I had to chance to meet you at CHA. I had just opened a new LSS and you were so kind to me and my staff, you were so geniune and really impacted us with your kinds words. I committed to praying for you and your family from that time on. We ran into you'all that nite at Rainforest cafe and I was so blessed again by your genuine spirit. I know you barely commented on some upcoming changes and you were a little emotional. Thanks for the glimpse of that, it just reminds me to pray for you and for peace in your business decisions. This board inspires me to keep my family first as I juggle a store and a full time job. I know you took it in stride but the comment above about buying new pants reminded me that not everyone has had the chance to spend 2 mins with you. Thanks for sharing a small part of you on this blog and for being geniune. I too am learning how to get our red paint from pants or whatever else I stumble across and these ladies have given GREAT ideas on this blog today. -Kristi O theottmars@msn.com
Hi Lisa,
My favorite quote is "The smallest deed is better than the best intention". I know so many times people say, Oh I wish I could have thrown you a party, but they didn't even buy a card or I meant to come by and bring you dinner but they didn't even send an email to say you were in their prayers. I live by this principle.
Love reading these.

So, a quote that helps me handle situations better is just "God is in charge." It's spring and my girls and I are so excited to have some warm sunny days, but we've also had a lot of rainy days. Hi there!
My favorite is: Joy is not in things; it is in US!- author unknown
It really puts things into perspective for me when something material gets ruined or something goes chaotic ( like your pants, I can completely relate!) or if my day is just going lousy. What is important are the people around me and my health.. that is where true joy lies.
I also like the quote:

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
by Erma Bombeck
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner, even if the carpet was
stained and the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried
much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more
while watching life.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth
would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical,
wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was my only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now
go get washed up for dinner."
There would have been more "I love yous".. more "I'm sorrys"... but
mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every
minute...look at it and really see it... Live it... and never give it back.
Don't forget to stop and smell the roses today! Take time to tell a loved one how much you love them, do something nice for yourself, and stop to give God thanks for all of it.
First of all, Lisa, your hair looks fabulous! Too cute!
The one saying that always gets me through the tough times comes from my mom who has always said "you need to have faith". Whenever I've been dealing with something stressful the first thing she'll tell me is "where's your faith?". She always reminds me that everything that happens is all part of God's plan and that I shouldn't question it or worry about it. It's part of His plan for me and that I need to have faith in Him that it will all be for the best. Whenever stressful situations come up I always find myself repeating her words and telling myself "you need to have faith".

It just happens to be that I collect quotes in a small journal...so when I need a little pick me up or a little inspiration they are so readily available...

Lisa, my favorite quotes are "when you know better, you do better AND "you can't un-ring the bell" Both of these speak to moving on and making your life the best it can be and not dealing on the past mistakes. We are NOT our mistakes.
"DO MORE, WISH LESS" is a quote that lifts me when I am worrying, procrastinating, etc. I learned it from my husband. He used the motto in his senior high school yearbook before we met and I loved it the moment he showed that yearbook to me.
Kristie - cookabsher@hotmail.com
"Thank You Lord for small mercies." My Grandmother Ward said this...when we'd get a good parking spot at the mall, when the recipe turned out right, when you could find your umbrella on a rainy day, etc.
Don't forget to be thankful for the small things! Sometimes the small things aren't an annoying cricket, but a sweet small blessing.
Hi Lisa!!!
John and I wanted to submit our favorite family saying.
First, I started saying "For the Love of Pete"
Then it became "For the Love of a horse." Thanks to fun paper by Flair designs that made my girls(ages 3 and 8)laugh.
At a class last month one of my favorite customers heard me and said, I have a horse her name is "Sissy" her name used to be Harley but it just didn't fit.
So around the Rapp home you can hear "for the love of a horse named Pete" or, "For the Love of a horse named Sissy."
Just hope we brightened your day.

Life is short and hard; like a bodybuilding elf.
this always makes me laugh! I saw it on a bulletin board in college.
Another quote I use all the time comes from Schulz...Peanuts and Charlie Brown. I have a yellowing, torn copy of this cartoon in my office and it still makes me laugh...but reminds me that even though I have a perfect ideal to live up to in Christ and the gospel, I fall short.
So...Charlie Brown's sister comes in while he's watching TV sitting on the beanbag. She has a grumpy look on her face, and exclaims "I hate everything! I hate the whole world!"
Charlie calmly replies, "I thought you had inner peace" to which she responds, "I do...but I still have outer obnoxiousness!"
Ha ha ha ha ha!

My favorite little saying is "It's ALL good..." This means quite simply to me that now matter what happens we can and should find the good in it, even if it's just a lesson learned.
My second favorite that I share with my kids when they don't want to do something whether it be a chore, homework or anything else is "That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Trust me, I repeat this to myself at times also.
Happy Mother's Day to all!

Sorry. I don't have a good quote that I can think of but if I come up with something, I'll post later.
I love your haircut. You look so young! (Lucky you!)
As for paint on your pants, have you tried paint thinner? It's kind of a last resort thing but if you rub it into the paint and let it sit for a couple of hours, most of it should come out with a washing or two. It is harsh so it could alter the color a bit but that might be better than red paint, right?

My favorite quote is from Emily Dickinson: "To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else."
It reminds me to keep things in perspective. When something happens, before I get flustered and stressed out, I ask myself "Does my life really have time for this?" Usually I realize that stressing over little things is just a waste of precious time.
Happy Mothers Day, everyone! =)

Our moat recent family quote is "RUN in PLACE" This started about a year ago when my 5 yr. old daughter Shannon was starting to become impossible. ( I think its a girl thing) SHe is very srong willed and becomes easily frustrated. Everything has to be perfect. After several weeks of constant battles, I broke down in tears What was I doing wrong?? We decided to have a family meeting to brainstorm. My wonderful husband who has more patience than anyone, came up with "RUN in PLACE" Whenver Shannon would be sassy, or just a girl we would say "RUN in PLAce" Well that would bring a smile to her face and she would forget about what she was mad about. Just reecntly I even tried it when I was getting angry and it really works. I am sure I look pretty funny too. Anything to bring a smile on a face is worth it to me. Soryy this is so long.

Hi Lisa,
Love the latest article in CK with your favorite tools - I'd like to see this article continued in future months :o)
I like a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt - "A woman is like a tea bag - you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water." This just reminds me - especially in times of stress - that I am strong enough to handle just about anything. I know God does not give anyone more than they are capable of handling.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Love the new hair!
"Where the heart is willing it will find a thousand ways, but where the heart is weak, it will find a thousand excuses." - I got this quote from my dad. He used to have "refrigerator wisdom" he would post once a week on the fridge and we would have to read them and initial so he knew we read them. Unbelievably, at the time I thought it was useless but I can't believe how much they have stuck with me and helped me :)

Hi Lisa, Cute Hair.
When I have a challenge that I don't want to face I think of a line My friend said to me a long time ago.
"what are they gonna do, Take away your birthday?"
I also like:
"a positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"
Hi Lisa,
I have never responded to your blog but I just wanted to share a quote with you that has helped me through the years. My Sunday School teacher had us memorize this about 25 years ago.
"Your task to build a better world God said, I answered how? The world is such a large vast place so complicated now and I so small and useless am there's nothing I can do, but God in all his wisdom said "just build a better you"".
Thanks for all you do.

Hi Lisa,
Happy Mother's Day!
One of my favorite quotes goes something like this:
When I am gone, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in or how much money I had, what matters is that I was important in the life of a Child.
I have not given birth to children, but I have 7 nieces and nephews (and a new addition coming in Sept.) and I love all of them as if they were my very own and want them to have memories of times that we share and things that they learn from me when I am gone...
lorifranklin@verizon.net
I love JackieKennedy's quote:
"If you bungle raising your children, nothing else you do in life will much matter."

"Your altitude is dependent upon your attitude." - Spencer W. Kimball
"Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music." - Ronald Reagan
Oh, wait, I just remembered one more that totally shows how I feel some days (I don't know who originally said it):

" There is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still."
I suffer from many health issus at a young age, and raisiong a teenage daughter in the middle of it, this quote often is my mantra to remind me that God is with me through ANYTHING I go through, and that there is nothing I suffer , that i suffer alone.

This is silly but I will tell it anyway:
"What does that have to do with the price of rice in......"
It is usually fininshed with China, but I tend to say whatever place is on the tip of my tongue....like...
"What does that have to do with the price of rice in Egypt?" It ends up being silly and makes us laugh and we forget about the "problem" or whatever! :)

A quote I heard years ago in a church talk that has always stayed with me is that "we judge others by their actions and we judge ourselves by our intentions." This quote just rang true to my heart. Whenever I may be critical of family, friends, or anyone...I think of this quote. It definitely stops my thoughts and can be quite humbling.
Also, I tell my kids to think "PACE" which means Positive Attitude Changes Everything. It also reminds me of salsa=)
Sharon(teamkime@bellsouth.net)
A quote I use...and it's something I said once and sort of stuck with me, is "that's gonna get scrapped". When I see something that could be horrible (like my daughter drawing on her face with a ball point pen) and I tell myself "that's gonna get scrapped" I'm able to laugh about it. And I'm sure my kids appreciate me seeing the brighter side!
oops..forgot to leave my email addy! mommycwme@yahoo.com
Hope this only makes it on here once but my post didn't seem to go thru....here's trying again
crazy....always so many post when there is a contest involved! LOL
The only thing I can come up with is my usual saying: same stuff...different day! Really doesn't make me handle anything better....just gets me thru the day knowing it's the same. Ha!
My brother has a better quote. It is "your Fired". He had that before Donald Trump did. My brother is mentally handicapped and that is his favorite thing to say to EVERYONE. Another one of his favorite sayings is: "your under arrest". Those are my two favorite quotes from my twin brother. He makes me laugh....he's super cool. Those aren't for the contest per say: just wanted to share them.
PS-Like your hairdo Lisa....and good luck on your pants with the stain. I know my MIL could get the stain out for you...she is super good at stuff like that. Me...not so much. Ha!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE~have a great mother's day weekend!
My husband changed my life with this quote...

My saying we use with the kids. Now that they have learned it they even remind themselves when things seem unfair, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!"

Don't wait for your ship to come in, swimm out to meet it. Whenever I'm scared to try something I remember this. Life without trying things and taking riks is life without living. Sometimes I'm scared to try something because I might fail, but that's part of it,
I can't wait for life to come to me. I need to come to life.(which could be a quote that I just made up for myself-kinda liking it.)
Guess just trying to say, don't forget to live.
By the way lisa love your haircut, I might be seeing a new haircut in the future.

I have four kids...and one day one of them was complaining that one of their friends being grumpy/mean. I told them "Don't let them be a fun sucker...." Now, when anyone is grumpy in our house we yell "Fun sucker!" (As if they are sucking the fun out of the day) Now, there is a negative side to this too. While waiting in line at Starbucks my 13 year old was complaining. So, my four year old screamed our saying, except accidentally switching the f in fun for SUN and the s for an f in the sucker.....EVERYONE turned around. Still, we love the saying, as it instantly turns the mood around.
I often tell my 17 yr. old daughter as she leaves for school to "have a fun-filled day."
My mom always said, "You can't tell from a galloping horse." Which at our house meant you can't see that itty bitty stain, your hair doesn't have to be perfect, don't worry about the little stuff!

My husband was diagnosed with Colon Cancer the week before Christmas 2006. I thought I would never make it through. I kept this quote in my pocket at all times, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced". It helped me face the situation and try to be strong for my 12 year-old daughter. It helped me through a lot of dark days along with the verse "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength".

My favorite is along the line of yours - "Is it any more than a pin prick on an elephant's hide?" Let's face it - we would never see a pin prick on an elephant and things that we think of as big and stressful are mostly pin pricks on an elephant.
lkhull@sbcglobal.net
One of my favorite quotes comes to mind quite often if someone is complaining or down in the dumps. It is a quote from Dr. Phil: "People treat you how you teach them to treat you."
So powerful and what a life lesson. It is often hard to realize our own faults. Thanks for the opportunity to share!
Amy Cline

My mom always said, "Life is neither fair nor unfair. Life is an experience."
One of my favorites is "You get what you get so don't throw a fit". We use it at school all the time (you know when passing out treats, colors of paper etc.), but I really think it applies to our daily lives as well. The Lord gives us what we need - even if we don't realize it - so we need to not throw a "fit" and make the best of each moment.
I always loved a saying I learned from my mom. When our kids were growing up and they'd get upset at us about something, I'd say to them "You'll get glad again." They thought the saying was wierd and that I was nuts for saying it, but I was right. They "got glad again"!!!

With 4 children we often have situations at hand that are not ideal for all of us, which can result in some unhappy members of the family. Our favorite quote would be "Find the Fun" There have been very few situations that we could not find some fun in. We can always find something to laugh about or enjoy, this motto has gotten us through some hairy situations. Give it a try!

I have been going through a very difficult period in my for longer than I care to dwell on. Some days I can feel myself spiraling into a panic. In addition to prayer I found that if I take a deep breath and slow myself down for a few minutes I could regain my balance and keep moving forward. I took some pretty scrapbook paper and made a sign and placed it on my bedroom mirror. Very simply it says:
"Remember to breathe."
Works every time. Take care,

One of my favorite quotes comes from my sweet dad. "Kill em' with Kindness." He would tell us that in every situation where we would want to speak unkind words about someone or if someone was treating us poorly, he would always say "Kill em' with Kindness." Growing up, I always thought that doing this would welcome others to treat you like a doormat. However, I have learned in doing this that he has taught me to be the bigger person and to treat others the way I want to be treated. Now I live by his quote and when I practice it, I feel like I am being the best person I can. So, when it doubt...."Kill 'em with Kindness!"
"Kill 'em with Kindness" ....something my father would tell us in every situation. It taught me to be the better person and to treat others the way I wish to be treated. Still live by these words today. So...when in doubt..."Kill 'em with Kindness!"
On my mission I said this to myself over and over, "Keep on keepin on." Also, when I am having a difficult time I tell myself, "This too shall pass." I look back on times that were difficult in my life and tell myself, "If you could do that, you can do anything." A simple, "You can do this" or "It's not then end of the world" thought to myself sometimes helps me get through.

My son started Kindergarten this school year. One day after school had just started, I picked him up and he was upset about something that happened earlier in the day. I listened to him and told him that he should not let it ruin his whole day. I said it was "just a blip on the radar screen." That it happened and then it was gone. So a few days later I picked him up from school and the first thing he said was "Mom, I only had a nibble of a bad day today." So one of our favorite family quotes is "I had a nibble of a bad day."
When he was 3 years old he caught me wiping off a really wet kiss and became quite upset. So I explained to him that his kisses go straight to my heart so fast that they never have time to be wiped off. So even today every one in a while he will say "Your kiss went straight to my heart." Now I need to scrap that last one as a conversation!

My favorite quote lately is "Don't worry, I'm taking God with me!"
My nephew was nervous about making his First Communion, so his religion teacher told him not to worry, "just take God with you". Now whenever his mom asks about his homework, he just says, "Don't worry mom, I'm taking God with me to school!" Isn't that funny?

Hi Lisa,
I actually have two favorite quotes. The first is on my refrigerator and says, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" by Eleanor Roosevelt. The second sit on my kitchen window and says, "Remember - It's what you believe and what you say to yourself that counts the most".
I really feel that that the thought of me turning 40 this year has really given me a sense of peace, courage and the inner strength to be more confident. I don't allow negative people, thoughts and actions bring me down and these 2 quotes help remind me of that.
Have a great Mother's Day!
Christine
"Rise above it" I hear this in mind from my Grandmother and mother.
I live by these words they are great advice when you feel like you have been wronged.
Also I have to tell you a cute quote, that my little 2 1/2 year old daughter says. She has been in a spitting stage, and so everytime she would spit I would say "pretty girls don't spit" Now whenever she goes to spit she stops and in the cutiest most innocent voice she says "prety girls don't spit", and she stops herself from spitting. I guess I am teaching her something.

Well to make my quote understandable, I have to tell you the joke it came from - so this could be long. Two southern belles are sitting on the front porch sipping lemonade. One says to the other "my husband bought me a brand new diamond ring for my birthday" and the second says "well, how nice." The first then says "oh and for our anniversary my husband bought me a brand new mink" and the second responds "well, how nice." The first says "for Christmas, I'm getting a brand new cadillac" and the second replies "well, how nice." The first one finally says "what has your husband bought you lately?" and the second one replies "Oh, he sent me to etiquette school." The first southern belle asks "what did you learn in etiquette school?" and she replies "I learned how to say 'well, how nice' instead of screw you!!"
So my favorite phrase for dealing with anything is "well, how nice" - I mean it really fits in almost any situation and most people don't know the joke!! It's also the name of my blog!!
Try Johnson's Baby Shampoo for your stains, though with red and the amount of pigment in it, you might have to have a dyeing party.
In our house, we have to remind each other that it's just a bite. You can't eat an entire elephant but for a bite at a time.
My german relatives were often quoted with their "I-I-I-I-I's" meaning, "well, what are you going to do?"
And there is my all time favorite: "Life is just a chair full of bowlies!" A la Mary Engelbreit.

ps. - I love the new do!
Today is an accomplishment. Strive to make tomorrow better than today.
We've got a couple in our house. One is "we'll cross that bridge when we get to it" meaning don't start worrying about stuff that might not happen. (My husband once said "you know that bridge you keep talking about? Well, we're standing on it!") The 2nd one is "that's why we have stain stick" meaning it'll all come out right in the end.
Here's one I may paint in our foyer "these are magic years... and therefore magic days... and therefore magic moments" That just says so much to me about living in the present.

I try to stress to my kids how important it is to not make anyone feel bad and I just love this quote.
But for a someone unique quote I often say, "get your poop in a group" to mean get it together. I think maybe my mom used to say it or something. I compeltely embarassed my teenage son (he's 15) by saying this in front of one of his friends. Since I say it all the time, it never crossed my mind it would bother him. When they left, he was mortifed! My husband suggested we say, "Get your turds in a herd" instead, but our son didn't like that one either.

As moms we grow so much from our children!
My favorite quote came from my sweet 16 year old daughter after having a "talk" about something she needed to step up on. I was on her case a little bit and her response was...mom, "I'm Learning!" (with a big smile!)
Our whole family uses that on occasion when we slip up a bit.
Because we are!
thanks for sharing your insights on your blog. I really enjoy it. I've watched your company grow from day one to today! Inspiring.
OK so it may not be very exciting or unique but it is still my favorite quote.
"If you love something, set it free, if it comes back to you it is yours, if it doesn't it was never meant to be."
It is my favorite because when my husband and I were datiing we broke up once for a short period of time and I remember seeing this quote and then telling it to him and well the rest is just history.
So it's my favorite.

Hi, Lisa!
Here's my quote by Javan:
"One Day I said to God
I'm going to search
For the meaning of my existence
I'm going to find the talent within me
Then develop it to the best of my ability
And I'm going to make the most of this Life
That I have been given
And I'm going to do this
Without infringing upon anyone else's
Opportunity to do the same
And God replied
'I couldn't ask for anything more.'"
Warm fuzzies. Love the way this saying makes me feel. It's like I can do ANYTHING!

Hi,
I work in a busy fast food restaurant and a number of things can (and do) go wrong all at once. I once heard someone say "it's all good!" and it stuck. I have two quotes that I always like to use in life.
"Whatever floats your boat." I think I got this from my high school English teacher.
This one also... and it is probably spelled wrong. "Ce La Ve."
I would use either one when I just want to say "oh well."
Oh one more! "Carpe Diem!" Seize the day! Or as my boyfriend puts it, seize the carp! hehe.
Growing up the thing I remember coming from my mother the most was, "Oh, well." I covered a lot stuff and sometimes that is all that you can say and move on. I knew I had turned into my mother when I started saying "Oh well" and now I've caught my two girls (ages 9 and 2 1/2) saying it. "Oh well" is a good attitude to have when things don't go as planned.
Lisa (latz@mindspring.com)
My daughter came up with one I love: "If you want to be a lion, don't run from the hyenas". (This quote is attributed to Rianne Wright).
"Its all gravy!"....
Means everythings OK.
As gravy beefs up a meal, the little things in life that we sometimes sweat over don't really matter, they just make life more interesting. When things are not going my way I just sigh and say "It's all gravy".

FIRST-AID FOR PANTS:
I hope you didn't throw those pants away yet. Do a search online for "Goo Gone Pen and Ink Remover." It's a fantastic product. Took something that was either blue crayon or ballpoint pen ink out of an entire dryer full of fully dried clothing! I can no longer find it in stores, but I bought like 4 bottles last year somewhere on the net. Just let the pants air dry and set them aside until you get your shipment. No kidding, this product has worked on so many weird stains and saved countless pairs of pants. I really think it is your best shot.
Hi Lisa,
Happy Mother's Day to you too! I love the new haircut.
Two quotes that help me when I'm having a bad day, week, or month...
1) "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain" (make the best of the situation you're given)
2) "Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes yet." Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables

regarding your paint on your pants. For water-based paint, soak the still-wet item in warm water and launder as usual. For Oil-based paint, use turpentine or other suggested thinner, then rinse and treat with a stain remover or laundry detergent before laundering. I hope it helps.

Hi Lisa,
My favorite quote is one my mom has always instilled in me. It is: "When one door closes another one opens". When I went through my divorce 4 years ago I thought my life was over, it was a complete shambles. I thought of this quote and it helped me get through those hard times. I am now very happily married for 2 1/2 years to the man of my dreams.
I am a firm believer of this quote, it is true "when one door closes another one opens".

Hi Lisa - Love your new hairdo! My daughter, Kayla, is also getting a new 'do soon and she's donating her hair to Locks of Love! Anyway, my favorite quote is:

My favorite saying is, "It's always something!" from Gilda Radner's book. No truer words were ever spoken.
Love the haircut!

My favorite quote/comment to get me through the hard things is this:
"Is the world going to end because of this? Then it doesn't matter."
Simply because if the world does end, it doesn't matter. If the world doesn't end, then it doesn't matter. This has gotten me through a lot of things that ended up being not so much of a big deal after all.

Hi Lisa!
I love your haircut and this is such a fun blog! As an English major and now a part-time theatre history teacher, I love quotes! Several of my favorites have already been posted, but the one I use all the time is, "If God brings you to it, He'll bring you through it."
I first heard it sometime after my husband's suicide four years ago. I felt so alone and isolated, but I wasn't at all. God arranged for me to be surrounded by friends and family. He sent me back to my hometown and found me a beautiful house with a scrapbook room too! When I realized my infant son was having developmental issues, He sent even more help. My dear friend Karen was a pediatric physical therapist who led us to other wonderful people to help us with him.
I love this quote because it reminds me of the Footprints poem. God is right there with us, leading us through the storms to the light! He holds us in His arms through it all.
Thanks for this fun and fascinating blog. I'll be sure to remember the cricket line, too!
God Bless,
Colleen

Hi Lisa,
I love your hair!
About the quote, my nephew made his 1st communion a couple of weeks ago and was really nervous about it. His religion teacher told him "don't worry, just take God with you". Now he says this all the time. When his mom asks if he finished his homework, he says, "don't worry mom, I'm taking God to school with me!" Isn't that cute?
Hope you had a nice mother's day,

Hi Lisa, I have been trying to post for three days I must be doing something wrong that it never shows up. So trying one more time. Anyway, wanted to say that I love your haircut wish I could wear mine short but can't you look good in any style.
Anyway, my favorite quote that I find myself using a lot is
"IT'S ALL GOOD". My sister-in-law and I while vacationing in Sedona with our kids rushed out of the restaurant to get that picture of the awesome view at sunset. We turned to each other looked at the kids and said "IT'S ALL GOOD", no matter what you are doing or who you are with, whether you are sitting watching a sunset with the love of your life, watching your kids play soccer or one of my favorites buying scrapbooking supplies that "IT'S ALL GOOD".
Loved seeing you at QVC the other weekend it was great thanks. Can't wait to see you again.

Hi Lisa!
My favorite quote that I use quite often is from the movie Dirty Dancing. When I feel like I've done or said something silly I repeat Baby's line of "I carried a watermelon?" You have to have seen the movie to understand.
I say it to myself a lot but I obviously say it aloud too because my 3 year old the other day picked up a small watermelon at the grocery store and said "Look Mommy, I carried a watermelon too!" :-)
So there you go, laugh it off and carry your watermelon.

Hey Lisa!
You are such an inspiration! I LOVE watching your QVC spots. My DVR is set everytime scrappin' shows are on.
Anyway, I have 2 quotes I love: "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much." This quote is how I, and my husband, try to live my life. And, what I'm trying to instill in my 2 young boy's lives also.
The other is "That's gonna leave a mark." It's from the movie Tommy Boy, which was the first movie my husband and I ever saw. We were on our very first date. The quote resurfaces every now and then, but quite a bit these days, as our 2 boys are daredevils. Anytime something happens the quote always comes to mind and if it's a doozy, we say it out loud, and just chuckle to each other. It's one of my favorite movies and I'll never forget that quote. :)
Hope to hear from you! Cute haircut by the way.

As a somewhat "new" mother of a special needs child, my FAVORITE quote (it's in my e-mail siggy) is: * * * * "God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called." * * * * As I look back over my life, I find that it's been so true and I'm sure that it will continue to be true. This saying gets me through the days that I start thinking, "I can't...." :) ~ ~ Melissa S-E.
Hi Lisa,
One of my favorite quotes is
"To live in hearts alive, is to never die"

I posted the quote Don't Wordoe be Happy but didn't leave my email oops new at this karinkinney@sbcglobal.net
When I'm driving behind someone who's going too slow for me, I just pray that they are not going to visit their loved one at the cemetary, and then I let it go. I learned this one day when my 85 year old grandfather was taking me in his car to visit my grandmother at the cemetary. He was going so slow and other drivers were disgruntled by his driving.
I love your new haircut! Looks great on you!
I saw this quote on a church sign years ago. I use it all the time!
"Worry is a darkroom, where YOU develop your own negatives."
helps in stressful times for me. Then again it may because I think of that country church when I think of the quote and that makes me happy.
Thanks so much for the great blog!

Ok, this is the third try at submitting this. If, by chance the others went through, I am sorry. It keeps booting me off.
So my comment is "keep the change ya filthy animal". It is from the Home alone movies, and when my brother was 5 years old, he was trying to buy a christmas present. His purchase came to a few cents short of 4 dollars, and when he gave the cashier his 4 dollars, he said "keep the change ya filthy animal". We all laughed so hard. Now, 16 years later, we still say it to each other when we need a good laugh.

Hi Lisa-
I LOVE your new haircut...I am with you, having to blowdry and curl gets very tedious!
Your new favorite quote is great...you may get it to spread nationwide, or at least we'll know people saying it are scrappers! :)
The quote that recently inspired me is from Michael J. Fox:
"I am careful not to pursue excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business."
My favorite quote comes from my husband. When we were first married and I would get upset about little things . . . the socks on the floor, cap off the tooth paste type of thing, he would say "if that's the worst thing I do . . ." Meaning save the snits for the big things in life. It made me think about what really was important in a marriage and socks on the floor wasn't one of them. I think in 13 years we've had three arguments and none major. He is a good man with good priorities who has taught me the same. So if you get upset with someone you love, stop and think; If that the worst thing thev've ever done. . .

i love to read all the sayings on the starbucks cups but i can't seem to remember any right now. :) i did hear a good one from my 6 year old the other day. "You get what you get and you don't thow a fit". when i asked her where she heard it from she smiled and said from church school mom....
the saying i remember from childhood though is from my mom, Because I Said So! i hated to hear that when i was little but now that i have kids of my own i can appreciate the saying... mom has been there and has made the mistake before and just doesn't want us to make the same ones she has.... so wise are our parents yet we never seem to appreciated them sometimes... love ya mom :)

Lisa, I just love your contests. Well my isn't a "quote" per say, but a saying I often say. I have to say that I am happy with my life. However when things get so stressed out and I just think we can't make it emotionally or financially I always say that "Things happen for a reason, and God will never put more on our plate than we can handle". I think this and remind myself {sometimes SEVERAL times a day} and it does help me get through things. So this is my personal quote that I say to myself.
Have a great day and hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

My sister and I actually have 2 quotes that we say to each other all the time. The first one is "it's fine, it's fine, we're all fine!!!" My sister and I say this to each other whenever life is just a little too much to handle. We try our very best to make light of situations that make us STRESSED OUT!! It's not the most original quote, but it makes us laugh or at least chuckle whenever we say it to each other.
What is the true meaning of this quote? Well it's suppose to remind us that things really aren't that big of a deal. Another one of our wonderful quotes, is, "In one 100 years from now, it won't even matter, so quit stressin'!!" I love that one too! You pick your favorite quote!
The meaning behind both of these quotes are that life is life and we need to make light of it,otherwise you'll drive yourself bonkers!! Being too serious can make life too hard, so we try to make light of every situation!!
"No plane on Sunday"
This is the title of a Jimmy Buffett song by the same name. It's meaningful because the song is all about just letting things go that you cannot control. I often find myself stating "No Plane on Sunday" when I am not thrilled with something, but cannot change it.
"It is what it is"
So simple yet so true. It will apply in any situation and has helped me get through many times.

My favorite saying is "don't get your knickers in a twist". I have said that countless times to my sons over the years when they would get upset over something trivial. It always made them laugh because they had no idea what knickers were and once told, they couldn't imagine them getting twisted! It helped to put things in perspective for them and for myself too.
Enjoy each day!

Hi Lisa,
This is my first time to respond to a blog, but, I couldn't pass this one up. Here are two of my favorites. I'm a public library director, and I have a staff of about 10 ladies. As I'm sure you're aware, managing a group of women can be a very rewarding, but also challenging job. The first quote I put into use my first year on the job is,
1. "Let it go." I always ask this when the girls come to me with a complaint. How important is this, is it a conflict you can't handle on your own? Is it some small slight, some imperfection, some niggling worry. If so, more than likely you are the only one suffering, and you are the only one who can change the way you feel or see things, so take a day, think about it, and "Let it go", and if you find that you can't come back to me and I will intervene.
2. The second one comes from my husband, and is along the same lines. "Get glad in your mad pants". That one always makes me smile, and usually gets me out of my bad mood.
Hope you get a kick out of these.

Hi Lisa~
I've never commented on your blog before but I love my quote so much that I couldn't pass it up!! My quote is "There's No Testimony Without the Test" I lost a baby boy 2 years ago and this quote became my motto in life! Whenever something isn't going right or i feel tested I just say this quote out loud. There have been a lot of times to say it too!! Thanks for all the inspiration I love to look at your blog!

A favorite at our house is, "That plate's already been licked". We use it when someone keeps going on and on about something.
I really like this one -

Joy is not in things; it is in us- Richard Wagner. How liberating to realize we all have to power to be happy. Too many cool quotes, but I'm thinking "it's only a cricket" is definitely a keeper.
Ok, hopefully the third time is a charm! Anyways, I have loved reading all of these quotes and stories. Thanks to all for sharing them! I heard a quote recently, that I just loved... "Insanity it hereditary... I get it from my kids!" Hehehe! Being a mom of 4 crazy young boys, I thought this was very fitting, since I certainly didn't use to be insane! I also just heard one on another scrap forum, I might have to make this one my new life motto... "Scrap forever.... Housework, whenever!" Who wouldn't rather scrap than clean! Love it! "It's a windy "Y" day!" I know, I know..this needs explaining! When my 3rd dd was little and she would write her "y's", top part of the letter always slanted to the right - like it was blowing in the wind! She aptly named it a "windy y" and now we use it kiddingly when it's windy out, but also when things aren't going quite right..can't you just hear Eyeore saying that? Just a reminder that things may seem a little off, but in the end, it all gets straightened out!
i have many quotes i say all the time, but in my professional career, people tend to get really uptight about deadlines (which are 99% arbitrary) and they freak out if you are going on vacation and something doesn't get done for a few days. so about 7 years ago i started say this to people about work.... and i've realized OH HOW TRUE IT IS: "It's your job. I came across this quote when I was training for my first marathon. I LOVE IT! I often say it to myself when I'm frustrated and think I just can't keep going. To truly live out our dreams, to make our hearts full, to quiet those butterflies in our tummies, we must have courage. When we go after what it is we are truly passionate about...we will be at peace. It's so simple but so hard to do. I keep this quote in my heart. It has motivated me to learn how to swim at the age of 34, finish a triathlon, two marathons and start a business.
I hope you enjoy it, Lisa!
Love,

I've tried to leave this comment repeatedly, so if you've already received it, I apologize.
This is a major hillbilly joke. In fact, I heard it at a 4-H picnic from a singer of bluegrass band. When something happens that upsets me, I can always use this quote to make me laugh.

Hi Lisa
I have several quotes for you.
One is from my mother who would say - "He who pays says" you get the drift on that one :-)
Another is "It is never too late to do the right thing" like when I've forgotten to send a thank you note to someone - I'll remember that quote. I remind my girls of that one - could pertain to obedience.
Another one regarding marriage is from a conference speaker Crawford Loritts who would say regarding his wife -"we's all we's got" meaning as husband and wife no matter how troubled the marriage is or how hard the trials are - our marriage is forever! Non- negotiable! My husband & I remind each other of that one from time to time
And my husband's fav. is prob. - "don't sweat the small stuff - it's all small stuff!"
I did want to ask you where the big letter "B" came from on a QVC show with Lena. You made a folder for Brecken and used a green chipboard "B" letter that you weren't selling at the time - it seems taller than the chip chatter classic - can you tell me what company it is from?

My favorite quote has been something I've heard just recently but one that I believe is very true, at least in my life.
My favorite quote is by comedian Carlos Mencia, who says, "If you ain't laughing, you ain't living."
The more I think about that statement, the more it resonates with me. I have always been a person who always takes things so seriously and worries so much, sometimes about things I can't control. I don't always take the time to laugh, to enjoy all the fun this world has to offer. I mean, we only go around this crazy world once, and you have to make the most of your life....including trying to remember to laugh and lighten up. Thanks for the great idea, Lisa. Tammy

I posted mine earlier, but I don't see it here-so I am going to re-post it, if that is okay!
My favorite quote is "Play Big."
I say it to myself when I need a little push, I say it to my kids when they feel insecure and I say it to my husband as he goes out to sell.
I read a quote by Marianne Williamson and adapted it to my own, "Play Big".
Her quote is, "You are a child of God. You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Thanks for all your inspiration-

Your hair is BEAUTIFUL!! I LOVE IT!!! hmm and here I was growing mine long.. now you've teases me into a shorter cut!!! LOL LOL.. You look fantastic!!
I'm late on my quote and that's mighty fine...
But I always take my children's faces in my hands through any trial of life... and say "It's going to be ok.. because it can't go any other way.. God is in control and in the end He is perfection"!!
Hope you had a Blessed mother's day!!
my favorite quote is one that my mother has always said and I in turn have said it to my kids. When faced with a tough situation my mom always told us "just pray about it and the answer will come". I always tell my kids the same thing, to the point of my daughter saying I know just pray about it and the answwer will come. I truly beleive this.
The one that keeps me moving is
"Buck up, Dig Deep, Move on"
Lisa, from a board game we have at home, describing how a player may feel about one of thier rules (no joke!):
"Them's the berries!"
Totally cracks me up! But how true of life! LOL!
My current favorite saying is "It is what it is". This is by no means original, you hear it all the time. But it hits home for me, at this point in my life, because we recently decided to sell our house. We needed to get it on the market as we have already purched acreage to build in the country. We have lived in our current home 26 years. It is a pretty nice house, and we just recently finished an addition. I had been driving myself absolutly crazy painting, cleaning, clearing clutter...stressing big time. Then it hit me.....It is what it is. And I guess it is, because 4 days after the first showing, we signed a very good offer. Wish I had realized earlier in the process that it is the house it is, and it would be fine the way it is.- Janet

"Nothing is ever ruined."
This is a great saying that I repeat to my husband, our daughter, and myself. It works particularly for me; sometimes I have the most grandeous expectations and when things fall short this quote helps me to avoid upset.

I know I am too late for the contest, but whenever I am feeling overwhelmed with life I smile and repeat "Patience is a virtue" over and over aloud or in my head. It is amazing how that can straighten out my perspective.
Hakuna Matta... No worries, from the Lion King. It is kind of like your cricket thing... why worry about something you can't change.
The author is what gives this quote special meaning to me ...
"I learned a long time ago that life just isn't fair, so you have to stop expecting it to be." ... Dana Reeves
Hi Lisa,
I posted my quote last night and I was comment #304 and it said that it was waiting for approval but today when I came back and checked my comment wasnt there that makes me SAD!!!....I was wondering if you got it?

Whenever I am feeling down or stressed out, one quote goes round and round in my head, from "Finding Nemo", when Dory says "Keep on swimming, just keep swimming." I usually hear it in my head very sing-songy just like it is said in the movie. Can you tell I have kids and have that movie all but memorized?

My quote comes with a little story. Ducks will swim in any weather. The Rain never bothers them--it just slides off their back because of a water repellent in their feathers. They can enjoy their swim even in bad weather. When things are tough, or it feels like there is a lot of "Rain" in my life or the life of one of my girls, we like to say "Be A Duck"! Let the problems and the bad stuff just slide off your back and keep on swimming. Thanks, Katie kcburdett@cox.net

I know the contest is over, but I had to try posting again, because I posted 3 times yesterday, and not one of them showed up. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I thought I would try it again anyways. I have loved reading all the fun quotes and stories. What a fun topic! I always love that I leave your blog feeling uplifted! Thanks Lisa!
PS: One of my favorite quotes is "Insanity is hereditary.... I get it from my kids!" I loved this one, because I know I didn't use to be this ditzy, it has to be my 4 crazy young boys! :)
Hi Lisa - I know I missed the contest deadline - I was on a family vacation, but I just wanted to let you know that your hair looks fantastic!! I love it shorter!!!
Hi Lisa! I think one of my most favorite quotes would be "If friends were flowers, i'd pick you!" I use it on so many cards, signatures, you name it! I love it!

"It is what it is . . ."
We must have said it 50 times while we were waiting for Immigration papers to be processed so we could move forward with our adoption from China. We had no control over the processing of the paperwork and we had to continually remind ourselves to relinquish control.
"It is what it is . . ."
We must have said it 1000 times while we waited 10 long, dry months for the referral of our daughter from China. Again, no control over a foreign country processing paperwork and matching children. We expected to wait just six months, and as the months dragged on, we continued with our mantra.
"It is what it is . . . "
We must have said it 10,000 times in the short 8 weeks it took between referral and travel. We just couldn't wait to get on a plane and get to our girl!
"It is what it is . . ."
We said it one last time when we finally arrived in China and were told our day to be joined with our child was delayed by one more day.
At long last, we have retired this saying for this portion of our life . . . .
now we say "It is what it is" when our sweet little 2 year old wakes up every night, throws yet another temper tantrum or flings food off her tray! :)
"Just breathe..."
My favorite saying comes from the scriptures a little bit....As Christians, We know where our joy comes from...!!!
However, when times get tough and they always do..I always say "Let no one steal your joy"

for your pants: zout, it works wonders on stains; also, try some fingernail polish remover (of course do a spot test first)
quotes: "no worries" and "it is what is is"
think i might just have to add "it's just a cricket" to the list though, it fits perfectly with the other two!
From my high school typing teacher when the bell would ring to change classes:
"You may please leave."

My kids favorite quote is "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit"
Have a sweet day!

I know I am too late but I just want to add my fav quote or words. "Make it a Happy Day" - I say this to my kids every morning and often write it on their lunch cards. I believe we choose to be happy so I like to remind myself and my family that they should "make it a happy day" everday
Helen
My mother once said "Don't puke before you get on the tilt-a-whirl", meaning don't get yourself all worked up over something before it even happens. I also like "Just Keep Swimming" from Finding Nemo, lol

Here is my recent favorite...
God gives each bird a worm but He doesn't put it in the nest.
So many great quotes here but nothing about getting acrylic paint out...if you hear anything--please post--i've never figured it out.
Thanks!
Hi Lisa,
I actually have two favorite quotes.
Christine
PS. I am leaving this again because I forgot to leave my e-mail, crispin67@verizon.net
my favorite quote at the moment
Sometimes you have to leap...and build your wings on the way down
"Suck it up!"
I am a mom of 5 and we are busy, busy, busy with school, church, sports, projects, scouts, music, etc...
Every once in awhile someone complains that they don't want to "practice", or go to their meeting, or they're tired, etc...and they hear "SUCK IT UP"!
It's amazing how much is accomplished!
tomorrow is a new day!
You have not because you ask not.
I say this all the time, and obviously it is not MY quote, but it is the one I claim when I need something, or when I need clarity.
I tell my boys the same thing. If you want to know....ask. Or, you'll never find out.
Love this one!
One of my favorite quotes is from the movie 'Flawless". Phillip Seymor Hoffman's character says it. The quote is "Can't lives on won't street." It helps me remember to try and not say can't to myself, to go ahead and push through and try.
Love your new hair do.
This too shall pass.
Joy is where you find it:)
My husband always say this when people are having a bad day!
It's not what happens it's how you deal with it.
Good huh? I love him!
"Sometimes done is better than perfect."
Oftem said by me after a project is not exactly the way I wanted it to be.
i am so dang glad kade is potty trained now kade nice work on the big achievment.
"Saved by my feathery bottom" -- from the kids' show Wonder Pets. This has many, many applications and always makes my daughter and I laugh :)
My 11 year old son has ALWAYS had a problem going to sleep at night, I often wonder if it's because he was born at 11:11PM. The other night while laying next to him after talking and talking I said to him "It's time to sleep now, no more talking", he looks at me and says "Mom, don't you know that I'm nocturnal"... too funny. I love the funny things that come out of his mouth.
I know the contest is over for the quotes, but I really wanted to share with you some special quotes that meal a lot to me:
"Keep on Keepin' On!" - This just means that no matter how bad things seem, just keep on going, because it's only going to get better from here, so just get moving forward in life and share it with others! Some friends of mine had a Christian Rock group called "Sons of Levi" here in the Santa Rosa, CA area for a while. They were awesome and they made up this song with that name title and lyrics. It was (and still is for me because I have their CD) such a motivating song. It really puts things where they should be!
Then there is a wonderful quote that I learned back in 1988 from a terrific motivational speaker named Jim Rohn. He says: "For things to change, you have to change, and for things to get better, you have to get better!" I think that one is pretty self explanitory...don't you?
And last but not least, the one I tell everyone, "What you put out is what you get back! Positive brings positive, and negative brings negative. Which one would you rather have flying at you?" (This is what I really try to use as a teaching tool with the two foster/adopt children I have right now. Their lives have been so full of negativity and it is difficult for them to see the positive side of things some times. This helps them.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these quotes as much as I do!
