Back from Lake Powell!

I've been back from Lake Powell since Thursday night and can you believe this is the first moment I've had a chance to write about my trip! Life is way too busy! What have I been doing? I spoke at a buinsess seminar on Friday morning, Kade left for Hawaii for a week Friday afternoon (helped him get ready), cleaned up from Lake Powell, took the girls to Nancy Drew movie (thoroughly enjoyed it!), went to California early Saturday morning for a friend's wedding (Stephanie Tafoya--it was fabulous!), stayed at my nephew's house in Upland, CA on Saturday night, flew home early Sunday morning, went to a friend's missionary "farewell" service at church at 9:30 a.m. and attended another service at 11:00 a.m. for a friend who just came home from a mission. Went to dinner at our friend's house, hooked up with more friends from out of town (Les and Dave from Kansas City), went to a meeting at church, then a youth "fireside" witha hubby and son (Collin), went to a friend's house for dessert, then dropped into bed at midnight. Whew! I thought summer was slower paced. Not around here!
Okay--so now about Lake Powell. The top photo is of our family along with some friends who came along with us. The Mortensen and Clauson families also stayed on our houseboat. Our neighbors the Becks, Nilsons and Jensens brought another house boat and we also spent lots of time with them. The bottom picture is of Lake Powell and the house boat we stay on each year.
Let me just say--what pure fun. You really have got to rent a house boat just once and spend a week on a lake. It's an amazing experience. What did we do? Ate tons of great food, played tons of fun games (Scrabble Tiles was the favorite), went boating, wake boarding, tubing, cliff jumping, jet skiing, swimming, star gazing, etc. What didn't we do? No makeup, curling irons, cell phones, computers, deadlines--just awesome fun with family and friends.
Sunday's are our favorite day down there. We take a break from the water and toys and always have a spiritual church service on our house boat. We love the day of recovery for our bodies!
So, that was my week in a nutshell.
This week I'm off to Florida for a Creating Keepsakes Convention (Ft. Lauderdale), then Kansas City for a family reunion with my mom's side of the family.
Hope you're having a great summer.
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I love your kit this month. Why did the July kit change? I was totally trying to figure out a way to order it while I was travelling.
thanks
Robin
Bonjour!
How are you?
I like the way you have to make us discover the different part of USA.
As I'm unemployed for 2 years and with no money, I can't travel at all.
So I'm very happy to discover the countries of all over the world through scrapbookers eyes like you, with your thoughts & feelings.
It's very interesting and so I dream to countries I don't know.
I try to do the same about the place where I live (Normandie, France), with my Pop looking (lol), and the few stuffs I've got, and the few place I've got.
Scrapbooking is more than a popular art, to me it's a mean to forget its own problems, better, it's a way of expressing its problems into an artistic positive way, in order to make out of our heads our problems.
You know, each time I put out of my head (in french we say "évacuer") problems on a scrapbooking LO, I feel better and more positive.
I hope soon I'll find a job in my country, for helping other people to feeling better into this way as I felt it.
I think it's important to express positively in real its feelings with the view to be better in its own life!!!
;oD
Family find I'm really more better since I practice scrapbooking, even if life is quite hard for us, on the whole world, it is always someone into the crafts world for listening, support us. Scrapbooking is became our second family.
Merci!

Wow--I'm tired just reading about how much you are able to pack into a single weekend! All such quality events with family and friends--you are an amazing scheduler!

Our "summer" just started - today! - my kids just got out of school yesterday - can you believe it!? we had to make up time for days lost over the winter...Sept 5th will be here before we know it.
Your hubby is looking great in the photo...is he still on his new eating plan or is he now on a maintenance plan?
Hi Lisa,
I am so looking forward to meeting you at CKC-Ft. Laud. I'm taking your "My Simple Truth" class and I can't wait! Your talent speaks for itself! By the way, does the "All About Me Workshop" being offered use the same All About Me kit you used on your site (in your favorite albums section)? I was just curious. Thanks, Vanessa
Wow! That was tiring just reading about what you've done since you've been back. I would need another vacation! I, too, am going to CK Convention in Ft. Lauderdale. I am so excited.Hope to finally meet you. I have been to two CKU's but you weren't there.
Carla
Yeah,I forgot to mention; this week I got two hits of Lisa B. My kit of the month came today- LOVE IT and your book, volume 4.
See ya in Ft Lauderdale.
Carla
So much fun....wow..look at that HOUSEBOAT! What FUN! Can't get use to that desert look. That really different lake setting than we are use to around here.
I've looked up houseboats before for use near the boundry water canoe area in Northeastern Minnesota. The houseboat thing look like alot of fun.....have to keep that one in mind. Another option with the houseboat here in MN is the Mississippi River. Sure they have houseboat rentals on the river. Either way, when I looked them up it sure looks like fun. it's pricey tho...work great with multiple family to rent one out.
TFS your fun summer getaway. Love the family pix...the little one doesn't look so happy tho(ha)!
Can't wait for your QVC show in July. Been having QVC withdrawals.
I just received my kit of the month for June and I can't wait to start putting it together. It is awesome. I am VERY excited about your July kit...it looks wonderful! Keep the kit of the month coming, what a wonderful idea! I also received my package from the quote contest...Thank You! I loved the cookbook as did all my friends and the extra book was a wonderful suprise! Thanks again!!!
Lisa,
Looks like you had an awesome time on vacation!
I hope you can bring CKC to the DC area soon.
Also...so, so sad to see July's Kit change. I was so looking forward to ordering. Perhaps just a production problem and you'll bring the kit back later.
Teresa
Oh how I miss Lake Powell! Our family moved from UT to Ohio 4 yrs ago, and I'm so anxious to get back there! Thanks for sharing some photos so I can live that dream through you!
Robin
Wow you have been busy. Me too! Mostly golf and softball and dance and more golf and more softball etc. Making any celebrity stops while you're here in KC?????? The boat house sounds like great fun!!
We were there at the same time. In Wahweap. We were sad to see the water so low. What is your favorite canyon to dock at? We were in Gunsite, Padre Canyon and Warm Creek this trip. Love being on the house boat and Lake Powell is the most beautiful palce. The stars are huge, the colors alive and family time away the best!!! I love being in the cool water looking up at the huge cliffs.
Hey Lisa-
This past week I was actually checking the Internet for Lake Powell rentals! I know this is a family tradition for you and I would LOVE it if you could email some tips before I delve into any reservations. What houseboat company do you rent from and what size/layout do you stay in (I have a family of 6)? Any advice on a specific boat or style that might be newer/nicer/etc.? Thanks so much for any info/referral that you might find the time to offer!

I am also sad about the July Kit being changed. Is it coming back another month?
Thanx
hi Lisa. This is unrelated to your post, but i was wondering if i can still purchase the all about me album kit? if so can you tell me where to find it?
thanks,
Heather

Your vacation at the lake sounds like a great time, as well as all the traveling you do. I know it must be exhausting for you, but enjoy! I can't even tell you the last time I took a trip - years ago. Way too long. I live vicariously through you. :0)
I just wanted to address the question from Heather regarding the "All About Me" album. Last week I inquired about the "All About Me" album to CK's customer service and they told me it was no longer available. I looked on the QVC website also and it was not available there either. If you are able to find it, maybe you could post it on the blog. Thanks.
Kim
Lisa, I am LOVING your June kit of the month! I have had pictures lying around for almost a year, and now I am putting them into layouts in just minutes!! Thanks!!
Man, you're making me jelous. I haven't been to Powell in years! Looks like such a blast!
We are going to Lake Powell on the 24th of July - well, we might wait until the 25th so we can catch the fireworks! We didn't make it last year so we are so excited to go. And your pics make me all that more excited! Woohoo!
Hi! Did you see the Space Shuttle by any chance? Just a guess!
Ya'tah shi kis!
Oh, I love hearing stories about where I grew up! I grew up in Page, AZ, so Lake Powell was my playground growing up.
I am glad to hear that you had a wonderful time! Your pictures and stories remind me of a lot of wonderful memories as a child and as a teenager, so thank you for sharing.
God bless,
Sharla Hunt
