Hats, Hats and More Hats!! Collin's Finished with his Eagle Project!
Guess what our family's been doing all summer?? Knitting hats for Collin's Eagle project! And as of Monday, he's officially finished! Collin delivered 110 hats to the Wasatch International Adoption Agency in Ogden Utah. These hats will be sent to orphanages throughout Haiti, China and Russia. According to statistics, each year, Save the Children releases a report on the "State of the World's Mothers." Statistics show that 2 million babies in impoverished nations die every year within the first 24 hours of birth; 4 million in the first month. The report concluded that up to 70 percent of these babies could be saved by simple, inexpensive measures, like swaddling newborns close to their mothers and putting knit caps on the babies' heads to keep them warm. So--as you can see it's been a wonderful, worthwhile Eagle Scout project.
Collin has been so cute. He assembed yarn and loom kits, then taught his entire scout troop how to make hats up at scout camp. He also taught neighbors, friends, family members, etc. Even my hubby, Steve, made one! Thanks to everyone who helped with this project. We will remember it forever.
So--tomorrow I'll let you know the BIG news about my cool tool Today's Special Value on QVC next Tues. Aug. 14th. I'm in love with it! Wonder how I ever got along without it. So--tomorrow I'll tell all!
Happy Thursday!
Lisa

Hi Lisa & Collin
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! Wow - what a great project! Those little hats are so adorable and will be such a help for those little babies!! Great Eagle Scout project! Congratulations! You deserve it!

Lisa - what an awesome accomplishment! Kudos to Collin! Can you tell me where to get the pattern and loom? Sounds like a great project to get our youth group going on - we have an orphanage in India we support at church and this would be a neat way to help out. Thanks - can't wait to hear the news tomorrow! Lisa E.
I love it when there are great projects like this (trails are nice and all...but something like this seems like so much more work and tugs at my heartstrings). My nephew just got his Eagle also. His project was collecting and stuffing new/gently used suitcases for kids in Foster Care so they wouldn't have to go from place to place with a paper sack for luggage...and got some 'special' ones for those that turn 18 and therefore 'age out of the system'...very cool.
What a great son you are raising. That was an awesome project.
I would also love more information on the loom you used and how to make the hats. Did they use the knifty knitter? I would love to do something like this with my MOPS group. I know how to knit but would love something that anyone could do without having to teach them to knit. I am also curious about the yarn used it looks very soft.
I will pray that each little baby receiving a hat will one day come to know Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior! Collin is a thoughtful (and handsome) young man! Such a great idea--way to work together y'all!!!
Lisa, I don't know how to contact you directly, so hope this works -- I saw your scrappin' room on the CK DVD I just got in the mail, and *WOW*!!! I love it! What size is the room? Is the floor plan anywhere on line or photos of each wall? I want my husband to build me your room! Great DVD!!! Thanks for the great ideas.

Hi Lisa:
WOW, that is amazing...what a wonderful project for your son to work on, with family, friend, and his scouts. All for a wonderful cause to help babies, Amen.
Lisa I can't wait for tomorrow, I am sweating bullets, waiting. See you tomorrow.

Congrats!!! What a great thing to do!
Can't wait to see your new tool too!
Truly an amazing project! It's so great that kids can realize that even at a young age, they can make a difference in this world and help people in need! Something I want my children to learn. Save the Children is a great organization!

That is so cool! The hats are so cute. I love it when boys does things like knit. A friend of mine at work crochet a care bear for his newborn neice.

What a wonderful thing to do with your free time this summer!!! Awesome!! How do you fit it all in?????
By the way....I am anxiously waiting to hear about the TSV tool!!! Do tell very soon!!!!
Collin is such a doll! What a great project. "Wendy Pannell" mentioned a CK DVD, where can I find that? Thanks!
My girls are doing the same thing for a women's sheltor here in Denver. Very good feeling that it leaves you with.
Congratulations to your son finishing his Eagle project. What a wonderful contribution to these needy little ones. Thank you for sharing his accomplishment with us.
Lisa: This really touches my heart. Our 4 year old daughter is adopted from China and we are waiting for our second child. Maybe she will wear one of these little hats before we get her! Thanks and God bless!

As the mother of an Eagle Scout, my only son, I want to congratulate you and your son on the completion of his project. I love the picture in my mind of your husband knitting one of the hats. My son built treated wooden trash can holders for our city. That was in 1990. I am proud to say that they are still going strong. In fact, a few years ago, another scout refurbished the trash can holders for his Eagle project. So I really know how proud you are of your son.

Great Project. My nephew just acheived the rank of Eagle Scout - one of 19 boys in his troup to achieve the rank this year. His project was at a local park.
Congratulations to you and your son.
WOW that is GREAT!! I love the idea.. and I love that there was so much love put into it... We did Girl Scouting here for several years (11)... Wasn't blessed with Boyscouting at all.... I know the hard work that goes into all these things... You should be so proud!!!
What a fantastic idea for a project ... and how very cool that the whole family got involved. Sure wish I had been able to get some lessons ... I'd love to learn to knit. Congratulations to Collin on the completion of his project ... and to you and your family for being such a wonderful support system.
Can someone help me get started with digital scrapbooking. I ordered FotoFusion by LumaPix and am waiting for it to arrive.
I've paper scrapbooked for years. What types of printers do you use? Paper? Software?
Can you scrapbook 12x12 pages digitally? The paper I saw at "Michael's" last week was only 8 1/2 by 11.
Can you help?

We adopted our son from Haiti and I must say that your son's kind spirit and generosity are to be commended. I love hearing and reading stories about people, especially young people, doing things to help the those less fortunate.
Thanks, Collin!
Congratulations to Collin on his Eagle Project. It's a wonderful cause and great that he could get so many involved with it. Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout. My husband and son are both proud to be one.
