Life is Crazy Busy (and good)!

Life has been crazy busy! Last week I had the amazing opportunity to create a Rememberance Album for the little girl who passed away in the car accident (see blog entry two down)--it was displayed at her visitation and funeral. My sisters, Angela and Becky, stepped up to the plate and helped since I only had a day to complete this (I was going to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Phoenix--loved meeting all you Arizona gals and Mike the scrapbooking guy!). The book turned out so beautiful and was an amazing experience putting together. (We used the new pink line from My Mind's Eye.) I know a little angel was watching over us. I would love to show you some pages but want to be respectful of the privacy of the Grant family at this difficult time.

Here is another little book I put together for the family. So many people were visiting the house and the mother wanted to have everyone write their memories of little Paige. I'd just purchased a cool little book from Target made by Real Simple. It's called a "4x6 Index Card Wheel" and was perfect for gathering memories. It contains 75 index cards in four different colors. The cards "fan out" and there's a removable bolt so you can rearrange the cards. I added her name on the front and the word "memories" over the "Real Simple" leather label. I also put archival pens in a pencil can (black beans were in the bottom so they wouldn't move around) next the book. I loved this book so much that I went and bought several more--also great for anniversaries, weddings, baby showers, birthdays, etc. (and very affordable).

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the funeral (I was in Arizona) but Kade went and said it was very spiritually uplifting but very sad.

What else is happening on the Bearnson front? Football, football and more football. Kade plays varsity football at the high school and Collin plays for the 8th grade team. (Steve is one of Collin's coaches.) Collin's last game was against the PG Vikings. Collin's best friend, Cooper, plays for this team and on the last play of the game tackled Collin really good. As you can see, Collin got a bloody nose and a black eye the next day. They shook hands after and told each other good game and Kris, Cooper's mom, got a good photo of them. (She needs to send it to me--I didn't have my camera.) Oh, by the way. Collin's team won by two points.

I'm off to Memory Trends in Las Vegas tomorrow. Then straight to Philly and QVC. I have four hours on Friday--4 a.m. and 2-5 p.m. EST. And--lots of new items!

Talk to you soon!

Lisa

I so loved meeting you at the AZ convention. I was so impressed by your genuine kindness. You are beautiful inside and out.
I'm sure the Grant family truly appreciates all you've done for them.
With having 5 sons...and 2 grandson's myself, I completely understand and sypathize with you on the injuries. Hope he heals up quick.

Collin's picture makes my face hurt...and further emphasizes my desire to NOT let my boys play football...soccer only (yes, I'm a wimp!).

Love the idea for the Simple book from Target. I had purchased those a while back also, not sure for what purpose, but knew there would be one one day and I wouldn't be able to find it :) typical papercrafting mantra. .

I hope the family is doing better - after all the shock wears off they will need you then more than ever.

See you in a bit in Seattle.

Lisa,
I love your idea of using the Real Simple index card holder for a memory book of sorts. Great idea! One I will be using! (don't they have such great stuff!?!)

Very thoughtful of you, Lisa. I'm certain it will bring great comfort to her family as they grieve and keep her memory alive. I'm sure it was a great blessing for them.

You are obviously teaching your sons the right way to be - good for them for shaking hands and being friendly after such a hard tackle! Did you gasp when you saw his face?? One reason I'm GLAD I've got daughters ;)

I am so sad for that family's loss and so greatful that you could help ease their burden with something as simple as a scrapbooked itme. Amazing isn't it? Heals our hearts in so many ways, just one reason I love the hobby so much.
Rough photo of Collin, hurts Mom almost as much as the kid, doesn't it?! What a page that will make.
Blessings to you on your travels.

Ouch! Poor Collin! But I guess that is to be expected once in a while when you play a sport like football. :)

I think it was so nice that you and your sisters were able to make a memorial album for little Paige. I am sure her family will appreciate it. Thoughts and prayers are still with the family for sure. Thank you for updating us!

Have a safe trip to Philly! Looking forward to watching!

God Bless,
Colleen

What a great idea with those index cards. I have seen that line at target and wanted to figure out something to do with it. Thanks for the idea and what a treasure for the family.
God is good ALL the time but it is this earthly life we live that is so hard to understand. Saying prayers for the family.

Hi Lisa!! I'm a fairly new CKMB'er!! Love everything about it. Such inspiration there. I just wanted to send out a BIG hug to you and whoever else made the rememberance album for the little girl Paige. I organized a rememberance album back in April for a 3 month old baby that passed away at my daycare of SIDS. It was a horrible thing to try not to think about. I asked each mom to make a page with their child and leavae a small note. We left space open for the family to fill in with the few photos they had of her. Baby Sophia will always be on my mind. I know she watches over her friends from daycare. The family was so grateful that they cried tear of happiness. No worries this was of no fault of the sitters. My daughter now 2 is my world. It's people like you that make situations like this a tiny bit more bearable. Thanks for being you!

Hey Lisa! You know, I was just thinking about you the other day. We met a few years back when you visited Made For Memories in Sarasota, FL. We bonded quite deeply over your use of my mom and dad's beach chairs! :) It's great to read about what's going on in your life. Gosh, your kids are all grown up and cute as can be. Come to Florida again. Unfortunately, my mom and dad are selling the condo, but I can still walk across the street and bring your chairs to that cute hotel on the corner on Siesta Key!
Blessings to you,
Leslie
