The 12 Days of Christmas!
Guess where I was all morning? At the courthouse reporting for jury duty. While I was willing to do my civic duty, I was a little panicked. We are leaving for Hawaii in just a few days and trying to get ready for the trip--plus Christmas--plus jury duty was putting me over the edge. I showed up, spent three hours going through the selection process, then was dismissed. What relief! I do think it would be a fascinating process at some time in my life--just not the week before Christmas and a big trip.
Our family has been busy little elves making our homemade gifts for family members. We each drew a name and had to make a handmade gift for that person. It's been a lot of fun. I'll share with you what each person created in a couple of days. We are going to open these presents on Christmas Day on the ship. Sage and Brecken wrote a note to Santa asking him to bring Christmas a little early. So we are getting up early Wed. morning to open presents--hopefully Santa got the memo. Christmas shopping this year has been a cinch. We only bought a few presents because of our trip. It's been really nice.
Speaking of gifts, a "secret someone" is totally spoiling our family (or maybe it's for Kade getting asked to a girl's choice dance that's coming up in January?). They are leaving gifts at our door every night for the 12 days of Christmas. They are very clever--I just had to share:
On the first day of Christmas
The partridge flew from the tree
But left these tasty pears
Chock full of vitamin C

On the second day of Christmas
Turtles went back to sea
Leaving only the dove
But with no vitamin C

On the third day of Christmas
With no French hens to spare
Cheese and crackers
Will have to be the fare

On the fourth day of Christmas
Calling birds flew fasta
More rapid than Santa
They wanted some Shasta

I don't know who's doing this but PLEASE know what joy it's brought to our family during this holiday season. We can't wait to get the door each evening.
Hope your preparations for the holidays are going well.
Sincerely,
Lisa B.
P.S. I read all your comments about bringing back the December Kit of the Month Stamp set--thanks for dropping us a note. We had a meeting last Friday on the matter and are still in the process of deciding the feasibility of reordering the kit. I will let you know the decision in the near future. If you had a problem with a duplicate or missing stamp, please direct your request to Vivian Grothe at Vgrothe@ckmedia.com.
And Another P.S. I just got a January Kit of the Month by Robin Johnson--"The Greatest Love Story Ever Told." WOW! So beautifully designed and lots of value. Don't wait on this one! It goes on sale January 1st, 2008.

Lisa this has been a tradition since my children were little. I know have 2 of my grandchildren living with me and the tradition has gone on. It is so fun to pick a family each year and then do something to go with the 12 days except the last day we give a nativity. It has to get creative on the times etc to try not to get caught. It is so much fun and one of our most favorite traditions. Eloise
Please, please, please leave pictures for the rest of the gifts. I did something similar a couple of years ago for a young family in our Ward and would love to do this for someone next year!!!
Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka!!

Lisa,
Thanks for sharing. This was a tradition in my husband's family all of his growing up years and we have continued it in our family since we got married 17 years ago! It's nice to see some new clever ideas, after doing it this many years. We don't usually stay with the theme of the song but just do little gifts we think our chosen family will like; catering it to them. Sometimes it gets hard to come up with something new so I hope you will continue to share your gifts to give us more ideas for the future. It has been a great tool to teach our children about giving to others and now that they are teenagers this is what they most look forward to with the Christmas Season.

It was great to see you at the concert the other night! Have fun on your trip!

Hi Lisa,
What fun, we, too, do this for our family. We usually do a nativity, and leave a piece of the nativity each night until Christmas Eve when we finally leave the Baby Jesus. But love the fun spin on the gifts you are receiving.
Put me down as one that would love a December KOTM if you decide to re-make them. I didn't get one ordered quick enough and now am sad!
Have fun on your cruise and good luck with your choir Sac Mtg program on Sunday. Miss you in Utah.
Love ya

Lisa,
Thank you very sharing, I think it's a wonderful tradition. It definitely keeps everyone grounded.
:)
I hope you share the rest of your 12 days of Christmas. Very cute!
I too have jury duty this month, so far so good. Have fun on your trip!
Lisa,
Our girls read something about making gifts for one another on a McD's happy meal box of all places! They were so excited about this idea, so we're starting this tradition now. There are only 5 of us, but we drew names anyway. I've had to help a little with my 6 and 9 year old, but they chose what item they are making. I think this is going to be a fun tradition!
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
BTW - DH bought the stamp kit for my birthday, and I LOVE it!
WOW what fun!!!
nothing like a clever pre-Christmas gift to perk up the holidays. :)
Hi, Lisa
I really enjoyed looking at your snow. I live on the Texas Gulf Coast where we never have snow! However, Christmas would be a little extra special if you could help me with something. Just when I was going to order the KOTM Destination Travel, the sold out sign flew up. Is it possible that you have one more kit stashed around? I would be so happy to get it.
Thanks and happy holidays,
Jamie H
Please let us know what you get for the other 8 days of Christmas. It's such a great idea.

Lisa, Ordered my necklaces from Dear Lizzie -they were backordered, but they called me today to tell me they are overnighting them so I'll have them for Christmas! What a wonderful store! Thanks for sharing their info! Merry Christmas! Have fun in Hawaii!!!
Thanks for sharing these cute gifts! I hope you'll share the rest :) Have fun on the cruise!
What a cute idea. Yes!!! Please post the rest of the gifts. I like doing something like this but I do it on the "real" 12 days of Christmas. People forget this and think that the these are the 12 days before Christmas but the 12 days of Christmas actually starts Christmas Eve night and goes through Ephinany (Jan 6).
How nice to have such a nice seccret pal.
Hi Lisa - I ordered a necklace from Dear Lizzy and I LOVE it!! Thanks for letting me know about them!! I hope your choir concert went well and have a safe trip! Merry Christmas!!
Please let me know when you get the rubber stamp kit back in. Ebay is selling it for over $50. Seems unfair, i would have bought it at your cost, if i had only looked at the magazine before now. I love your magazine. I hope you let us know the rest of the 12 days tags...it is so cute. thanks!
Please! Please! Pleeeeaaassseeee!!! Bring back the December stamp set! =)
Love it and want it!!!

I would very much like to have the Dec KOTM set offered again. I thought I ordered it on Dec 1st but I never received confirmation for my order and it didn't go through for whatever reason. I didn't realize that until it was already sold out. I really really wanted this stamp set....please reorder it!
Have a great day!
