My Day Out with Cheerful Charlie!

Just had to tell you about the most amazing day I had with my 87-year-old neighbor, Cheerful Charlie, and his daughter, Linda. Cheerful Charlie is the happiest person I know. His wife, Loving Leena, is the gal we visited a few weeks ago at the care facility. It's been very hard on him having his wife who he's been married to for 60-some years not live with him day to day. Yet through this hardship, he remains positive and darling.

Charlie plays the organ for our church congregation. We also meet at his house for choir practice (I think I mentioned before that I'm the director). Every time I go to his home, he's watching and listening to the same DVD--a Christmas performance by Sissel (an amazing Norwegian singer) and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He loves the sound the Sissel's voice (as do I).

Last week I noticed that Sissel was in the country in Utah and would be appearing and singing on Tuesday on Good Things Utah, a local hour-long television show. I called my pal, Rox, who's one of the producers and asked if I could bring Charlie and Linda to the studio to be serenaded by Sissel. She loved the idea and the rest is history. I surprised Charlie (Linda was in on the surprise) and we had a delightful time.

Just look at these happy faces . . .

I'm excited too because I got to meet one of my idols (you must buy one of her CDs--simply angelic voice). For more about Sissel go to http://www.sissel.cc . . .

I also got to meet Michael McLean--an amazing songwriter. He wrote the wonderful Christmas musical The Forgotten Carols--soundtrack and all. If you're looking for a great new Christmas CD, this is the one. Go to michaelmcleanmusic.com for more information.

Cheerful Charlie called me Tuesday night to say he had such a great time that now he wants to take me on a surprise outing. He's picking me, Steve, Brecken and Sage up at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon for a fun little something. I'll take pictures and share with you what it is!

And thanks to Rox for making the Sissel experience happen!

New subject--as for the soldout stamps, I'm going to work today to see what the plans are for future production. I'll let you know.

Have a cheerful Thurday.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

What a neat story. I can't wait to hear what Charlie has planned for you guys.

It was great talking with you in Seattle. I really enjoyed the stories you shared, but especially loved the open pantry story. That really inspired me! Thanks for sharing.

Oh, thanks for looking into having more stamp sets made. I really missed out!
Many Blessings,
Lisa

That was so great. Sweet too. And I hope the stamps will be available again. My short story is I saw them on the website, called my sister to tell her about them and she told me,"you have plenty". The next day she was looking on Donna Downey's blog and called me.
She says to me" Don't kill me" but I just seen a project Donna created and she used Lisa's Stamps!! The stamps are Great but they are sold out. I'm sorry I told you you had plenty w/o looking at them. :( Oh well.. next time I'll call sister after I buy!! Alisa

Aw, Cheerful Charlie seems so sweet!

Please try and get the stamps back! I didn't get in on them in time because I had 3 sick kids and 1 sick hubby and wasn't able to get online in time. :(

Just wanted to let you know that my stamps arrived a few minutes ago via FedEx! They all came in perfect condition and look great. I can't wait to use them. I was a little worried because the package appeared to be opened and one of the inner packages was split, but all pieces were there! Probably a mail inspection. Thank you for great customer service and fast delivery (I think I ordered on the 2nd or 3rd). I've always had great luck with your products as well as CK.

I used to be in cheerful Charlie's ward in highland and my family LOVED his organ playing before church. I remember him holding his wifes hand throughout meetings and loving her. He is so amazing!
