Oh My Heck! Brian's Having a Great Week!!!
I am moved to tears right now. What an amazing bunch of people you are. I can't believe the outpouring of love sent to Brian Nishimoto. I have been in touch with his mom, Sonja, several times this week and she said Brian is just thrilled.
I posted the below blog entry on Thursday of last week. By Saturday Brian received his first envelope filled with stickers (from Provo, Utah). This is a photo taken by his mom on Monday of Brian in front of all the yet-to-be-opened envelopes--just four days after posting the blog.

Sonja has been updating me everyday with the names and states (and even countries) where all the envelopes are coming from. Wow--I think every state has been covered! And I know some foreign mail is on its way. Plus, she told me how Lori Chadwick stopped in at Subway and hand delivered a package. Brian was so excited!
Here is a note from Sonja:
To all of Brian's friends--
Brian was so thrilled at the many nice cards and stickers that he received. He said it was better than Christmas! We both want to thank you all for the time and effort that you took to make him so happy! He will certainly be busy with these stickers for projects for a good time to come. It really gave him a lot of happiness. You are all so very kind and thoughtful.
Your friend,
Brian and mom, Sonja
She added this second note to me:
"Brian was very happy to get the cute stickers that he has been receiving. We never knew that there were so many cute and different stickers. Unbelievable! My husband went to the store to get him a nice container to keep his new stickers in. You have very nice friends in your network! Thanks so much for making this an amazing Valentine's Day for Brian. He rarely gets mail, so this has been fun for him. Thanks so much for your kindness to Brian."
I feel such a love in my heart for each of you who took the time to make this an unforgettable day for both me and Brian. I will always remember your great kindness. The world is filled with wonderful people.
Have a wonderful day filled with love and laughter.
Sincerely,
Lisa
P.S. If any of you saw the HUGE storms in Utah on the news, I was caught in that storm. I was at CHA and got stuck in California in the airport (long story) and then it took me seven hours to get home (normally a 40 minute drive). My family got stuck in Southern Utah (another long story--I'll post it later) and are driving home now. Please say a prayer for them--Steve called to say the roads are terrible. If you saw the school where all the kids got stuck overnight because of the storm, that is right in my neighborhood. Unbelievable! We are ready for Spring here!

I am so glad that once again, the scrapbook community has opened its hearts to another person. I am glad that Brian is getting lots of packages. I hope your family makes it back safe and sound. Happy Valentine's Day to all.

aw thats great! I'm glad that i was able to contribute. I had a load of sticers that i never used but didn't want to throw them away... so i purged it all and it felt great! I even have friends at other sites sending stuff because i was truely touched by Brian.
Hope everyone is safe. We have had our share of snow here in southern Wisconsin too with around 70 inches so far. Now we are waiting for another storm to dump another foot on Sunday! I love winter but this is getting old! But I keep taking pictures since I plan on scrapbooking the whole thing.
Stay safe everyone!!
Oh my gosh - I can't believe I forgot to add that Valentine's Day was our 20th anniversary and I gave my husband the "greatest love story" kit that I completed. He is a big mushy puppy dog anyway but he was moved to tears when reading it. It was perfect - a big THANK YOU for the kit!!
Wow! good to hear such a happy news. Just the dose that I need after hearing another sad news for us here ( we have a back to back shooting that killed 5 women in our mini mall and now in NIU where 7 people were shot). My neighbor's daughter goes to school there. I'm praying she's ok. I hope that Steve and your family are ok too.
Hope you have relaxing weekend and I'm sure you're glad to be back in bed.

Hey Lisa
Let's make this an annual tradation, it was fun, easy and made a bunch of people, not just Brian feel good!
Hi Lisa,
I'm glad Brian is enjoying the stickers. I'm afriad he will be getting my package a bit delayed as we have had a bad ice storm here in MO again! I hope your family gets home safely. Have a blessed day.
Suz
I am so excited to see this update on Brian! I did not get mine mailed yet as we have had some bad weather but it is ready to go! Lisa this was such a wonderful idea.
Thinking of you and your family - praying for their safe return home:) I always knew scrappers were special, but I am always amazed at the power of people.
Take care, Lisa:)

My kids and I had fun sending out stickers to Brian, what an EASY way to make someone's day. Hope the weather gets better up there and you'll definitely be in our prayers.

Hi Lisa - I will be praying for a safe trip home for your family. I am so glad that Brian received so many packages - ours came from NJ, so I'm not sure if he got it by Valentine's Day...I sure hope so, though!!
This brought tears to my eyes! The goodness of strangers.
I hope your family makes it home safely. Send some of your snow here, and I'll send some sun your way.
Brian's story is so sweet...I dropped off a package today at his house. Thank you for sharing his story. My boys love it when they get sticker's in the Subway bag!!!

P.S. I hope that you family made it home safe and sound. That was a nasty storm!
What an awesome Gift. I got chills when I read how many people have submitted stickers. What a great cause. I hope Brian enjoys them all:) and finds a container big enough for them
liz
How wonderful! So happy for him :) My package went out in todays mail! Thanks for sharing this with us so nice to send them to someone who will enjoy them - good for the heart!
Oh no! I hope everyone gets back home safe and sound!
How fantastic to see him with all his envelopes! I can see the one we sent in the photo! I write most addresses in Sharpie, and I write them really big, and I can totally see it! Too funny! It's wonderful that we could all come together and make his day! I hope he enjoys all of his stickers! Great job Lisa!
Lisa, PLEASE let us know WHEN we'll be able to order Becky's school kit. The suspense is killing me. I want two kits so bad for my girls school memories, and I keep thinking that I'm going to drop the ball, forget to check both websites one day, and I'm going to miss out AGAIN! Please . . . let us know, or tell me who else can I contact about this?! I would so willing preorder the two kits that I want! -- Carol
Just sending my package out today...my son even went through his stash to send to Brian as well. Praying that your family all arrives home safe and sound.
I'm glad to hear you made it back - i too am ready for some real spring time weather (a glimpse of sunshine would do nicely - although last time i prayed for that i got it - but it was only 20 degrees!).
i'm so happy Brian is enjoying his fun mail and his new friends.
Lisa,
I just got my school kits and I am just loving them I am just wondering if you can recommend a 3 wing album that will work to keep everything in...
Thanks so much,
Valerie
Oh Lisa, sure hope Steve and family are all home safe and sound! Storms out there have been nasty this year. Sorry your trip home from CHA was such an ordeal, hope all is well now.
Thanks for letting us all send stickers to Brian. What a fun 'random act' for everyone.
Thanks for the ideas, keep 'em coming!
love ya,
carrie
lisa,
what a great thing that you are doing for brian...i'm sure he feels overwhelmed with love :)
I pray your family is safe and gets home safely.
Wow! I'm so impressed w/the scrapbook community and how they have stepped up in response to your story about Brian. What an impact this has probably made on him and how easy it was to send a large envelope full of stickers. Please let us know if you have other opportunities for us to share the love.
Thanks so much for sharing the info on Brian. I sent him 3 large envelopes today. It's great to know that someone will enjoy something so much that I no longer needed. Hope your family is home safe, sound, and warm.
How wonderful it is to see so many people doing something good. Sometimes I get so discouraged about all of the evil in this world. If more people would take the time to "pay forward" a bit of service each day, think of the different world we would live in!
You are amazing Lisa!
Thanks for sharing the picture of Brian with all his "loot"...I was able to mail it out last Monday, and it was so fun to decorate the outside of the envelope with stickers as well...I'm with Brian-sticker collage is fun!
Erin : )
My friend & I put a package together and it is on the way...I am so thrilled to see the response in such few days. Can you imagine how many he received by Valentine's Day? What joy for Brian! I am going to continue to collect stickers & pass them on to him throughout the year. So sweet!
Jenn from IA
Dear Lisa,
This is such a wonderful story about Brian! It is amazing how people have responded and have been so generous. I am so grateful to be part of such a great cause. I hope that he is happy and knows how much we all care about him!
I hope that your family is now all home and well. I am so sorry that you were stuck in that terrible storm! It was so scary! I saw your friend Rob Clausen on KSL news the other night. That is so kind of him and others members in the community to help the students who were stuck at Ridgeline Elementary.
Thanks again for all that you do!
Love,
Lori C.
Lisa,
I am Brian's younger sister. I also live right in Highland. My mom called me on Thursday and told me of the wonderful Valentine's Day Brian had received through your generosity! I was absolutely thrilled. Very rarely does Brian get attention, and to be noticed in such a NICE way was really special. Thank you so much for being so great. Also, you look so familiar! Wonder where I know you from??? (And it's not QVC). Maybe Gold's gym? I don't know. Anyway, you're awesome! Thanks for taking the time to touch someone's life. I know this means so much to him.
Love,
Jamie Hofheins
Oh, Lisa, hope everyone is snug at home now! Terrible being by yourself going through that wicked weather! We complain if it snows two days in a row around here (NOTHING yet this winter I might add!). Y'all need a sunny vacation again soon!!! I'm so pumped to see the love for Brian! I'll have one in the mail for him on Tuesday. This scrapbook community is so awesome. Just a great bunch of people willing and waiting to help a worthy cause. The love you show for complete strangers is amazing. Reminds me of the scripture in Matthew 25:41-46, basically, what you do to the least of my brethren, you do unto me. We can all take a lesson from that! Have a great rest of the weekend!
Lisa, this is so amazing! I will definitely be looking through my sticker stash to send Brian a package. You are so caring and you inspire us all with your thoughtfulness! Thx
Vanessa M. Santamaria
I sure hope that the family arrived home safe and sound. Some days I am even more happy to live in sunny FLA.
The photo of Brian and his goodies moved me to tears. I just can't wait to hear what he "creates" with it all.
RAK are so wonderful. I just gave my wedding dress to a girl I met on Friday night at a couples MS retreat so that it will hopefully bring her as much happiness as it brought me.
Life is good Lisa. Thank you for allowing us to share it with you and others,
Jackie
Hi Lisa
Thank you for updating us on Brian. My package from Australia is making its way to his house.
Hope your family is well and arrives home save.
Linda
Wow! What a huge pile of mail to open. I'm slow but my 6 yr old daughter and I just put together an envelope of stickers to mail on Tuesday. She really enjoyed doing something that will make someone happy. We decided that it's pretty much impossible to have "too many" stickers :-)
Lisa in Oregon
This is wonderful, I just went through my stash of duplicate stickers I'd been saving since my sticker collecting days in the early 80s! I checked to make sure they were still sticky and I have an envelope full of stickers to send, best of all, I bet he doesn't have these! I'm going to check my current stash too and send them out soon! Thank you for letting the scrapbooking community know about this and participate!
Thanks Lisa, for letting us know about Brian. I dropped my stickers in the mail today and hope he is as happy to receive them, as I was to send them. God Bless you for this kind act and for all you do!
Kristen
We waited to send our stickers since Brian had so many; we sent our bag out to him today. Sorta to spread the wealth! Thank you for this wonderful idea - it's so nice to think that something this small individually could make such a huge impact. Thanks again - and Happy March (and spring!) to all. Jodi
Is there a "Scrapbooking With Lisa Bearnson" Book 1? I see subsequent books are available.
I want to pre order your school kit and can't seem to get past the login section.
