Please Help Make Brian's Valentine's Day a Happy One!
Hey Everyone,
I'm back from QVC and what a day! Hopefully you were able to catch some of the shows and get the Today's Special Value before it sold out. Really an amazing kit!
I sold a kit last Monday which was simply adorable--"Smitten" by K & Company. It included all types of fun products to made cute valentines and Valentine's Day pages. I loved this kit so much that I decorated my french double doors with the glittery hearts. I then hung all types of eclectic valentine's ornaments from the curtain rod above the door. I love the look.

I plan to do this for St. Paddy's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween and Christmas (I actually hung ornaments at Christmas this past year).
Hey--I need your help. Right before Christmas I was in my local copy center when I noticed a cute boy in his early 20s carefully choosing stickers. They were the Mrs. Grossman's, Sandy Lion, Frances Meyer type stickers--more on the younger, light-hearted side. I observed how he counted his change and then would carefully choose another sticker. He repeated this process several times. I asked the employee how often he does this and she said "Almost every day." I started chatting with him (his name is Brian) and found out he stuffs kid's meal bags at a nearby Subway, then on his breaks goes to the copy center for stickers. He says he LOVES stickers and is obsessed with them--he creates "picture books" with them. I got his name and address and took him a binder full of old stickers at Christmas time. He was thrilled and his mom was equally happy! I saw him a few weeks ago and he said he's almost out of stickers.

So--here's what I thought would be fun. Go through your stash and the older stickers you no longer will use, consider sending them to Brian. His mom was thrilled with the idea and said I could include his address. It would be fun to do this as soon as possible so we can make his Valentine's Day really great.
Here's his address:
Brian Nishimoto

Highland, UT 84003
You all are the best. Thanks for helping with this great cause. And drop me a note if you do choose to send Brian some stickers.
Have a great rest of the week.
Sincerely,
Lisa
P.S. I explain a little more about Brian in the comments section.

Lisa, this is a wonderful idea. I am going to raid my stash right now!
Hi Lisa,
Just wondering what he does with the stickers. Does he put them in the kids' meal bags at Subway?
Thanks for the information.
Lisa I have tons of stickers that just sit on my shelf. I will send them on their way tomorrow afternoon. What a sweet thing for him to do with the stickers.
Thanks for the idea.
Elaine, Warren Michigan
He is so sweet! I hope his Subway employer realizes that he uses his own money towards their business. As a teacher, I always have stickers since my 5 yr olds love them on their papers. I plan to try to get some extra ones and send them to Brian next week.
On a different note, thank you so much for bringing the school kit back! -Doing the happy Snoopy dance from my living room in Florida. :) Kim L.
What a great idea. I'll be sending him some tomorrow. I was just looking through all my older stickers and was wondering what I can do with them, now I know!
Thank you.
Hi Lisa,
Your idea for Brian is wonderful. I have an 18 year old with Asperger's Syndrome and his own obsessions, so I know how much such a gift would mean to your young friend.
I have old stickers everywhere, and I will get some together right away.
Happy Valentine's day to you and your family.

Hi Lisa,
What an awesome thought, for him do take so much time and effort into making a child's meal more than what they would expect. I have a binder with a lof of old stickers that are collecting dust, I would be more than happy to send them to Brian. Consider it done, I will be able to mail them on Monday 2/11.
Thanks,

Giving stickers to Brian is so wonderful! That is the cutest, sweetest thing to do. I wish I had not let my kids go hog wild with mine now.
I also wanted to tell you that I checked out Food for thought. We took my mother in law for her birthday and were so thrilled with the place. It doesn't look like much but the food was out of this world and we all got a amazing dessert by mentioning your blog. I thought we would only get one, but there service is amazing and they gave us each one. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation! I just love all your inspiration, thanks for sharing so much of it.

Brian's gonna be bombarded with stickers! What an awesome idea! My sticker bin is overflowing with stickers that I know I can part with. Will plan to go through them tomorrow and get a package sent out to him. Thanks for sharing Brian with us and letting us help him out!
Lisa,
I could not go to sleep tonight without telling you thank you!!! You have no idea what it meant to open my door today and see YOU standing there! That you would even take the time out of your day...I know being a mother of 4 myself how much time can mean!!!! And I didn't even invite you in!!!! You are even more gracious then I had imagined. I remember reading about your Oprah moment and what that meant to you! Well today you gave me mine!!!! I am always aware of whom I am and how I can affect others; I know that it only takes one person to make a difference in someone else's life, that every little bit counts. Your time has meant more to me then these words do justice. To know that you would take the time to drop that off I never expected it! The moment for me was beyond amazing!!!!
Thank you so much and when it is not 12:35 at night I will write a much better thank you!
The MOPs crop is March 7th 6pm-12pm. It is a non-profit organization that helps young mothers with small children. We are doing the crop to raise funds for the coming year to help more young mothers. It is not religiously affiliated though we are graciously being allowed to use a church building to hold it in. It is at Calvary Mountain View in AF the address is 340 E State Rd
American Fork, UT 84003. We are going to try to go to a lot of the Scrapbook stores and suppliers to get door prizes donated to help draw interest to the event. It is for a great cause and need in our area. Yes, I jump right in when I move to a new area!! I meet you once before several years ago at QVC at a live taping!
I never finished what I was saying about the CK cruise I went on a lot of your staff was there as well and they have to be some of the nicest people I have ever got to spend a week with! I can only imagine what all I was saying!
It was fun to show my husband the pictures because like I said he always teases me at least once a week saying that he has seen you in his store! So when I told him you came to the door he was like yeah right like she has nothing better to do!
Okay so now that I have left you a book! I hope to see you again so that I can take a picture where I don't look like I have been half asleep all day!!!
Thank you ( it just does not seem like enough) so I think I will pay it forward to Brian I have a lot of stickers that I do not use!!!!

Also, I was thinking about his mom. Maybe you could find out her name and we could send her a card to let her know what a great job she has done raising him! God Bless a woman like that!
P.S. Love your Valentine's idea with your hearts! I was one of the lucky one's to grab the Smitten Kit off the Q on Monday! Thanks for all you do for everyone! Amy in MN =)

Lisa,
This is such a great thing to do with all those stickers we "thought" we just had to have ... a few years ago! lol!
I sent my package out this morning!
Thanks for letting us know about this young man.
Amanda
Okay--
I am moved to tears over you wonderful generosity with Brian. He is in for quite a surprise!
Let me explain a little more. Brian has some physical challenges and works at Subway (stuffing kid's meal bags). This is how he earns his spending money. During his breaks, he goes to the copy center next door to buy stickers. He spends hours in there looking at the stickers, buying stickers, counting his change, etc. I observed Brian doing this and asked the gal at the counter more about it. She said he's LOVES stickers and can't get enough of them. And that he goes to the store almost every day. I then went and chatted with Brian and told him I was going to give him some of my stickers. He was so excited. I called his mom, arranged the meeting (three days before Christmas) and it was such a neat moment. You would have thought Brian won the lottery--her was so excited.
He spends hours making collages with the stickers--this is his hobby.
I saw Brian a few weeks ago at the store and he told me how much fun he's had with the stickers and that he's almost out. This gave me the idea to open it up to my friends here on my blog.
You all are the best! I'll get an updated photo of Brian with all his stickers!
It's so great to see what neat people there are in the world.
Have a great Friday.

Lisa:
Something so little on one's part can mean so much to another and this just goes to show what simple gestures can do for someone else.
I love the response you got and didn't doubt after reading your post that Brian will have stickers "coming out his ears". Will look forward to seeing the picures of his treasures he receives from everyone!

Lisa--This is so great, I love being able to make someone else happy with things that make me happy :o) Glad to help Brian out. Judi
Lisa,
Thanks for letting us know about Brian! Mrs. Grossman's sticker factory is about an hour from where I live so needless to say I have in years passed collected LOTS of her stickers. I would LOVE to send them to Brian. If you ever get the chance to go to Mrs. Grossman's sticker factory in Petaluma CA you won't be disappointed. She is a dog lover. All her employees are allowed to bring their dogs to work. Dogs are everywhere. They have a huge outside dog run, but the most amazing part is that they are also allowed in the office and design areas. The dog are just walking around all wearing little bandanas. It's so cute. I'm headed to the post office now.

Wow! Thank you so much for this opportunity! I will have to look at what my kids haven't used and send them his way. I really never use stickers, but used to buy a ton anyway...
Thanks again!
my 5 kids have a notepad of 100 $1 bills given to them by their Grandparents. They peel a few dollars off when they find something extra special to purchase. This weekend we are going to go to the store to buy some super cool stickers for Brian. The fun, sparkly, character kinds that the kids always love. They will each peel off a few dollars from their pad to contribute. They can't wait and neither can I. We might even drop by Subway to say 'hi'.
Thanks for the opportunity to serve, Lisa.
What a wonderful idea! I have a ton that I've never used, and didn't know what to do with. I'm so glad that they can be used to brighten someone's day. Thanks for sharing with us this opportunity! I'm sending mine out this afternoon, while I'm running errands!
