My house is eerily quiet!
I've been teary eyed all morning. Yep--today was the big day. My kids are back to class once more.

My house is eerily quiet except for the sound of the dryer. The neighborhood is silent except for the hum of a lawn mower. I'm sure in a week or two I'll find this new routine kinda nice. But for today I miss the chaos, fun and no routines that summer brings. Here are some photos I quickly snapped this morning. (Of course my better digital camera decided not to work but fortunately I have a backup.)

I just visited with a dear neighbor, Kristy, and her young 9-year-old daughter, Jane. Kristy just had her fifth child a little over two weeks ago. A few days before her baby was born, her daughter was feeling sick with a sore throat. They took her in for a strep test but it came back negative. The baby was born and Jane was still feeling ill. They took her in blood tests and discovered she has a rare case of leukemia. She is now going through chemo therapy. As I visited with mom, baby and Jane, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotion as I watched the three of them together. Kristy and her husband are an amazing couple and have so much faith that all will turn out well. Life is so short. What a reminder that we don't know what the future holds for us--two and a half weeks have completely changed their lives. Please say an extra prayer for Kristy, Jane and family.
I spent Friday night and almost the entire day Saturday with my family and a very talented photographer, Robin Johnson. She captured "A Day in the Life of the Bearnson Family" by just following us around and capturing our daily routine. I'm so exited to share the photos with you in an upcoming issue of Creating Keepsakes.
Hope your day is going great. I guess it's "Happy Back to School" from me!
Sincerely,
Lisa

Our thoughts and prayers are with Kristy and her family.
Marta :)
My children started back last Monday so I know the feeling.
I was saddened to hear about your friend. I'll keep her family in my prayers.
I am so sorry for your friend and her family - prayers for all of them!
Good luck filling up your empty days (I am sure that won't be tough to do ;) I hope to see you blogging more frequently - I miss the longs breaks at times.
Also, I can't wait to see those photos of a day in your familys' life - what a neat idea! ~Tanya
Prayers for Kristy and her family. Life is certainly uncertain... my heart goes out to them.
Cute 1st day photos of the kids! Crazy that summer is already over.
I'll be praying for Kristy and her family.
Back to school for us is next week- I'm not ready for it quite yet either...

My kids started school July 30th! We only have @ 6 weeks of summer in Hawaii and it makes me sad. I love being with my kids enjoying lazy summer days or wild ones at the beach or wherever, so I feel your pain with the empty house.
I'm looking forward to seeing your "everyday" pics. It also reminds me that I need to take some of our family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kristy and her family!

Prayers go out to your friends family. We are experiencing the same thing here - DD BFF is now undergoing treatment for leukemia.
Our school starts next week - and yes, like you, I will be a bit sad. Enjoy your alone time.

B2S! I am pretty excited and bummed at the same time. I enjoy my time with the kids, but I also enjoy not having to following them around the house cleaning (and nagging) all day!!!
I can't wait to see the photos in the next issue!!!
Praying Kristy and her family get through this illness.
My prayers and thoughts go out to Kristy and her family. I was a living donor for my 6 month old nephew's liver transplants 3 months ago. I know (first hand) what this famiy is going through. I also know how powerful prayer can be, please know that we will be praying for them.
Kristy, Jane and their entire family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Two of my three started school last week...my second child started Kindergarten. I'd forgotten the hubbub that a half day Kindergarten schedule brings to our lives.
And my baby will start preschool the Tuesday after Labor Day. Right now, I look forward to that empty house and the sound of a turning dryer. But I know when the time comes, I, too, will feel the tug of emptiness.
Thank you for sharing your candid thoughts on the blog - that is why I love CK, the monthly reminder to journal and document.
So sorry to hear about little Jane. I'll be praying for her and her family at this oh so difficult time.
Can't wait to see the family photos.
Hope the kids had a good first day of school.
What about doing another one of those Angel card sends to this family?
My heart and prayers go out to your Kristy, Jane and their family. I can't even imagine what they are experiencing right now.
My kids don't start school until after Labor Day and we have 2 more camping trips to look forward to before school starts. My "baby" is starting kindergarten this year - can't even think about it without tears!
How exciting! Can't wait to see the photos!
I am so glad you are back to the blogging world. Its great to see the first day of school excitement in your home. Our kids start next week. I love reading about your new adventure too. We are keeping your neighbors in our prayers.
I love Fall, its such a time full of excitement and change. AND I love this kit of the month! Thanks Lisa. Blessings
I got that familiar lump in my throat as I started the paragraph about Jane. I've heard stories very similar over the last 8 years. I have 2 daughters about the same age as Jane and we've been through leukemia too. My oldest is a leukemia survivor and doing great. (that's actually how/why I became a scrapbooker)
I hope & pray Jane (and her family - cancer effects the whole family) does well with her treatment plan and grows stronger & closer through it. It might be a surprise to her family - but this has been part of her plan, her story, before she was born. The first month will be the hardest on them. I hate she'll miss so much school - I'm guessing she's in 4th grade? I wish I was her neighbor - I would run right over there & love on them. I know how they feel. I remember it like it was yeaterday. I hope they have lots of survivors around them to encourage them. I didn't have any positive ideas or thoughts when my daughter was diagnosed so I had a grim outlook at first. I try to encourage anyone that ever crosses my path with good stories. Unfortunately when you hang out at children's hospitals & oncology camps you realize that there are a lot of children who are cancer survivors out there. Some of the best kids I've ever met are cancer survivors. :)
May God bless you Lisa for helping Kristy. She'll need it - especially with 5 children. I hope she sets up a Caringbridge site for her daughter. If she wants a pen pal - my daughter would love to reach out to her too. www.caringbridge.org/al/sarahanne
Sending love & prayers from Alabama,
Kelly
