"Dreams Do Come True" QVC Contest! Plus QVC CK Shows for Tuesday Sept. 23rd.

Next Tuesday September 23rd is the biggest scrapbooking fair of the year on QVC! I kick off the event at 12:01 a.m. (EST) with an incredible Today's Special Value. Before I tell you about about this wonderful day, I want to tell you about an amazing experience I had last night.

In the Bearnson home, every Monday night is Family Night. It's the one night of the week where we always spend the evening together. We take turns teaching lessons, making treats and planning games. Sometimes we go out to eat, then to a fun movie. It really doesn't matter what we do--the important thing is we do it together. Last year, one of Kade's football coaches planned an emergency strategy meeting on Monday night. Kade raised his hand in front of all the players and said, "Sorry Coach, I can't be there. Tonight is Family Night and family means everything to me." His coach's wife told me about this a few weeks later. So--as you can see, family night is a really big deal around here.

Last night right before dinner, Brecken announced that she'd prepared a special message for our family. (Love this photo of Brecken in a poppy field).

What followed truly was a dream come true for me. Her entire message was about the value of work and how it takes everyone in the family to make the house function. She said how work is our primary means of both growth and happiness and how a family will be strengthened by working together. Also how individual members will gain self-esteem by realizing they can make a worthwhile contribution to the family.

Now for the good part! (No I didn't pay her to say this!) She said, "I've been noticing lately that Mom seems to be doing a lot of the work around here and we all need to pitch in and help out more." (I gave a silent cheer inside.) Steve and I expect a lot out of our kids in the way of chores but lately the three men in our family have been very wrapped up with football--games, practices, manning the concession stand for the booster club, rewatching games, planning new plays, etc. (Steve is Collin's freshman coach.) This is six days a week (we take a break on Sunday).

We then discussed what life would be like if no one did any work around our home--what would our house look like. Brecken then had everyone list their favorite chore and their worst chore and how we could help each other with the worst chore. The answers are priceless:

Sage:
Favorite: Mopping
Worst: Cleaning up dog poop

Brecken:
Favorite: Making bed
Worst: Putting vacuum cleaner away

Collin:
Favorite: Dusting
Worst: Keeping room clean

Kade:
Favorite: Vacuuming
Worst: Putting vacuum cleaner away

Lisa:
Favorite: Putting clean sheets on my kids beds
Worst: Laundry

Steve:
Favorite: Making bed
Worst: Putting dishwasher dishes away

How cute were these answers--scrapbook material for sure!

Now for the cool part--Brecken organized a system that she felt like will help things go smoother.

1. She assigned days of the week for laundry and will write reminder notes like this one if people forget. (The three older children do their own laundry.)

2. She and Steve worked out an allowance program for jobs that go beyond the call of duty.

3. At 8:00 p.m. each night, she set an alarm where everyone is warned to pick up their stuff. At 8:15 p.m. she gathers up the extra clutter and stores it in a basket in her closet. The person wanting the item back has to pay $1.00--this goes in a kitty for future family vacations.

4. She talked about having more fun when we do chores. Sunday night, Kade, Steve and I were at a meeting until 10:30 p.m. When we arrived home, the kitchen was clean, the floor had been swept, scriptures had been read and the three children had already had family prayer together. Brecken mentioned how cleaning the kitchen together was tons of fun because they sang songs and laughed the entire time.

5. One final quote that she shared was this:

"Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do that day which must be done, whether you like it or not. Being forced to work, and forced to do you best will breed in you temperance and self-control, diligence and strength of will, cheerfulness and content, and a hundred virtues which the idle will never know." Charles Kingsley

Okay--so this was my dream come true this week--one of my children noticing how we can work better together as a family. And--it was so much more powerful coming from her than me! And--today our home has been a lot less cluttered!

So--here's the contest. Between now and Friday night (midnight), notice how a dream has come true in your life and leave me a message. Maybe your toddler or puppy just became potty trained. Maybe your husband surprised you with some roses after work. Maybe your teenager gave you a hug and told you he loved you on the way out the door to school. Or in my case, maybe your 11-year-old daughter sat your family down and told how the house could be run more efficiently!

Now for the contest (and thanks for reading this long entry!). I've been working with the kits I'll be selling on QVC next week and they are wonderful! Most of the items in my five hours of shows are BRAND NEW!

Okay--so I am going to give two of the Today's Special Value kit away, plus eight other various other kits. I will announce the winners on my blog on Saturday. The winners will be randomly drawn--except the first person who posts a comment will automatically be a winner.

Now for more information about the Today's Special Value kit from SEI. This is the first ever traditional, hybrid and digital kit all in one. First of all you get a beautiful box and photo album filled with precut paper, preprinted diecuts, stickers, brads, ribbon and so to make an entire album. There's also a blueprint given for each page so this album can be put together in literally under an hour. There are two choices: Mirage

and Poppy. Here are some samples from my album:

After creating the hands on portion, you can include your own photos in the album. Or, you can use the premiere digital software, FotoFusion, that's included with the kit and make it a hybrid album--part traditional, part digital.

The software will format the photos, titles, captions and so on like this so they will fit in your album--no extra measuring or cropping.

Check out the text and fun images on some of the photos--all completely automatic. If you totally want to make it a digital kit, it's as easy as clicking a button. Seriously, I created two duplicate 8 x8 copies of the album thanks to the software. Now my dilemma of which child gets which page when I create a tactile album is gone--now all my children can instantly enjoy all their pages with their own album. Also included in the kit are two extra 8 x 8 albums for the extra pages you will print out.

If you take digital photos and have wanted to try your hand at creating hybrid or digital albums, this kit is for you. It's completely risk free to try a whole new way of scrapbooking.

The Creating Keepsakes hours on QVC on September 23rd are:

12:01 a.m (two-hour show) plus Today's Special Value kick of
10 a.m. (one-hour show)
1-3 p.m. (two hour show)

Okay, so leave a message on how a dream came true for you this week. I'll randomly choose 10 winners and post them on Saturday.

See you on the Q.

Sincerely,
Lisa B.

My DS (8) has been playing hockey for awhile and always has a hard time when it comes to doing something that is difficult for him. He throws fits if he can't do it perfectly. On the way to hockey one night I told him it was okay that he couldn't do everything perfectly. He told me that he knew that because he had prayed and God told him that he was going to do well. That evening at hockey he did amazingly well and didn't have a fit once. I was so proud to see that he would pray on his own and that he wasn't embarrassed to tell me this.

My sister and my brother in law finally had a closing on their house and will be moving next week. It's been heartbreaking for couple of months now when they lost their first dream house due to some banking issues. I am so happy for them. This is their first house. My dream come true for my beloved younger sister.

Hey Lisa! Fabulous kits- wow. And I loved your story about Brecken's FHE! So... a dream come true for me lately is... my amazing hubby! I recently had ankle surgery and couldn't walk or drive for 6 weeks and he seriously never complained the whole time- he stepped in and ran our kids places, cleaned the house, did the laundry, helped with meals, and really took on a lot of extra stuff that I just couldn't do. He even brought me flowers to tell me how amazing I was. Instead of being stressed out to the max and frustrated and mad at the situation, he used this time to draw our family closer together and draw closer to our Savior. He helped us all remember and realize how much we had to be grateful for and has had such a positive attitude. I've always known I scored big time when I married him, but this week I was just reminded what a dream come true my fabulous hubby is!

This week, a five year boy sitting in an orphange in China has been blessed with a family. Ours! We have been working on gathering, documenting, and preparing the paperwork to submit our request to adopt him as our son since December of 2007. We were blessed by adoption last year and did not want our four year old daughter to feel alone as the only adopted child in a family of five. the will both share their birth country and being abandoned as infants with cleft lips and palates. This week we after nine months, we got informed that he has been approved to become our son. This week the dream of completing our family with an adopted son from China has come true and for him his dream of finding his forever family is a reality.

Hi Lisa!

A dream came true for me this past week as I dropped my oldest daughter off at college--it is my dream that my children will get the fun and experience of going away to a church school and all the adventure that it entails.

I am so happy for her! Seeing her excitement, and hearing it over the phone as I have talked to her since, it is absolutely a dream come true!

My dream that came true was that I am finally learning how to appreciate being retired after 32 years of teaching. The last month has been very emotional for me-- I think almost all teachers base their concept of who they are on the job they have working with kids. When that job was gone, suddenly I wondered who I was now. But just within the last week I've come to realize this is really a fabulous new chapter for me--and am finally coming to appreciate the time I have to do what I never had time to do before.

I had a dream come true today as I was able to have patience and sympathy for someone who has made my life very difficult for the past two years. I was able to try and see things from her perspective and it felt really good.
And my husband cleaned and changed the little in the cat box. Love that man!

In November 2007 my dream came true, when me and my 2 daughters were approved to buy our very first home. It is a 2 bedroom condo. It's small but it's OURS and we call it HOME. We are busy with jobs, college, school & softball, etc, but once a week we get together to have dinner or play a game or just sit and watch TV. Doesn't matter as long as it's the 3 of us.

My dream came true this morning. My eleven year old son gave me hug! (I have missed them so much) A few months ago I was in a Trauma center for a month and every since he has been nervous around my head working very hard to not touch it. When he would hug me he would lean way out to the side...Not today!! I got a real "love you mom" hug. I don't know if in his excitement to get out the door he forgot about his anxiety..I don't care because today my little man gave me a hug again..I say bring them on little man of mine!!

My kindergartner (for all of 1-1/2 weeks) is growing up! He rides the bus home on a 45-minute trip (scary for me, but I'm overcoming it!), and tonight, my husband and I cheered him on while he learned to push off to ride his bike and stop on his own (he could already ride, but the start and stop was assisted until tonight). It's bittersweet to experience him gaining some independence, but a dream come true to be here with him and that it is possible.

Having dinner together as a family has been a long standing dream of mine. My husband being the only working member of the family works very long hours and our two kids are usually in bed by the time he returns from work. We have decided to have dinner as a family every sat and sun while my husband drops the kids at school every morning (so he gets some one-on-one special time with the children every day). My dream has been fulfilled but not in the exact way that I imagined and I am ok with it.

One of my dreams came true today actually!

My 12-year-old daughter was sick for a few days from school and went to her teachers today after school and got her missing assignments!!! This is huge!! I didn't have to hound her to do it on her own or I didn't have to go in and talk to all of her teachers.

This is her 1st year of Jr. High and I am happy so say that I see some maturity coming out! Whatever it is, I am thankful! It made me so happy and so proud!

P.S. She also started on her homework once she got home... I was blown away! I love her so much! :o)

After working 6 days straight last week and only having Sunday off, I did not have enough time to even get all of the laundry done on Sunday because of church in the morning and evening. I was having our son put the load of wash in the dryer when he got home from school. We have a timer on the washing machine so I can it finish in time when he comes home from school. I figured by Wednesday I could be caught up with laundry.

Joseph surprised me last night when I got home from work and the grocery store. He had put another load of clothes in the washing machine when he switched the clothes in the dryer. This was totally unexpected. It was a blessing for me. I was fighting a migraine, too.

It is those little things like that make me do a little cheer inside and cry because he is growing up so fast. He said that he was trying to help me out more since I was so busy.

Our son is 11 yrs old and is a 6th grader this year.

First let me say that Brecken is such a blessing! What kid would notice that Mom has most of the work load and then figure a plan to change that? Very nice!

Last night was a dream come true for me. Our 7 year old second grader has ADHD and it's difficult (and most times frustrating) to get her to focus on tasks that need to be completed. Normally my husband picks her up on his way home from work at our after school care and then immediately sits at the kitchen table with her to supervise homework. However last night when I walked in the door, she was upstairs on her desk in her room doing her homework BY HERSELF! It was completely her idea! He did tell her that she would have a time limit to complete it...since she is easily distracted and can lose focus within 3 seconds of what she starts. Well, she completed it and had no problem fixing what we corrected. It was definitely a dream come true to have no stress surrounding homework. I pray that last night was the beginning of a new chapter with her.

He recently made a career change which allowed us to up and move back to Colorado (it was always my dream to come home) years sooner than we had planned. After waiting for our house to be built, we are finally settled and loving life. I'm happy with two kids, family nearby, a house I love and a location that takes my breath away. LOVED reading this blog entry, Lisa! Family is so very important to me; in fact, I believe my marriage is as strong as it is 'cause both my husband and I put each other and our families first. And God is so very important to us, too - even when traveling we make sure to find a church to attend on Sundays; if we miss a Mass we just feel like something's missing!
Monday nights are spent at his sister's house - her grown children come home and we all sit and eat dessert and drink coffee and talk about our weeks. Most times the conversation is not as productive as Brecken's (!) but not one of us would miss a Monday!
It's so nice to have time devoted to being a family...

Hi Lisa,

My grandmother moved to a skilled nursing facility this week after 86 years of independent living. There are a lot of family dynamics at play. I live 3000 miles away but am solely responsible for her. My husband has been an amazing source of strength, my grandmother really likes the place I picked for her (without seeing it firsthand) and everyone I am in contact with (3000 miles away) has been fantastic. Talk about an unexpected blessing and dream come true!

Thanks for sharing Brecken's strength of character. What a wonderful family you have!

Can't wait to see you on QVC.

My dream came true last night when my husband took me out for our 8th wedding anniversary to a restaurant that I had been hinting at for 12 years. Not only did he remember that I wanted to go to this amazing place which had amazing food, had a gorgeous view (though faraway) of NYC, and was right next to our county 9/11 memorial. We walked around the memorial and he was telling me how he was so thankful I was not hurt during the 9/11 disaster (I worked across the street at the time). It was a dream come true because he actually remembered what I had wished for, planned it all, and expressed his feelings that he normally doesn't do. It really was a dream come true.

My goodness what a wonderful job you've done with your children!

My dream come true is a small one, but heartfelt for us nonetheless. This week my youngest son (aged 5) started Beavers (we're in Canada, Beavers is like boy scouts, but for 5-7 year olds). He's always been the one of my children who has the most difficulty listening, sitting still, paying attention, so we were nervous starting him in something so regimented. We needn't have been. He was enthralled, participated well, listened beautifully and right away started showing pride and concern for keeping his little uniform tidy.

Small steps to be sure, but still wonderful and beyond our expectations.

Thanks :)

Hi Lisa,
I am writing to you from Australia and just wanted to take the time to let you know how impressed I am with the values your children have to their family and life in general. I have worked with children for 19 years and never have I come across children with such a grown up attitude to the world around them and the way the handle situations they find themselves in. You and Steve should be very proud of yourselves for raising such wonderful human beings and your your children should be proud of the people they are right now and the adults they will be some day, because I can assure you they are going to make this world a better place to be.

My dream come true, came true tonight, when I read your blog. That there is truly "good, and decency" still out in this world, not just in my family and community but out there in the big wide world and it assures me that if a blessing takes place that I have a child of my own in the future, I can be assured that I will be cringing them into a bright furture. Thankyou so much for sharing your stories with us.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted nothing else but to be a mom. Four years ago I made the decision to divorce my husband. I was raising a 2 year old on my own and going through some really tough times. I thought my chances of having another baby were over for sure. This past June, I married a wonderful man and we are expecting a baby this December. I honestly never thought this would happen to me - especially being an "older" mom. But God has truly blessed me in ways I could have never imagined - and has made my dreams come true.

My heart stopped, and I said to myself, "Every once in a while, we get it right." That was a time where my dream of getting it right with my kids, came true.

My dream come true is seeing my first grader become a reader. I know...most first graders do learn to read. But my little boy has had developmental delays since birth. He sat up late; walked and talked late, and has all sorts of difficulties. He has been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder and is in the special Ed. program at school (not all day...resource only). We have worked so hard with him. Last night, he and I excitedly called Dad in to his bed. Matthew began reading to his dad, and I had tears in my eyes. He is learning to read! Spelling is another story, but hey....it is a dream come true to see my boy read along with the other kids in his class! Way to go little man!

Last week my son (11) hadplayed at a friend's house. The boys there were not nice to their mother and did everything what they wanted. At home again he told me that me and my husband were rather strict with him and his (twin)brother but that he thouhgt that was a good thing in the end. He thought that he would grow up to be a better person. That insight made me happy and smile.

My dream come true happened 6 years ago when my second son was born. I lost my beautiful baby girl at birth a year earlier and completely devistated me. I didn't think that my life would ever be the same and I was right. But my empty arms were aching to have a baby fill them. One year later on my baby girls due date...my handsome son Tanner was born and answered my prayers for another child. I must have cried for hours after he was born. My dream of having a happy healthy child had come true.

My biggest dream came true 9 years ago--my son was born. After 2 miscarriages and several years of trying and even having some problems early on during my pregnancy with him he arrived on July 4th! My "pet" name for him is "DREAM" because he is MY DREAM COME TRUE.

Lisa, thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story! I actually was blessed with a small dream coming true this week! I am a consultant for Close To My Heart, however, I have not been focused on my business at all. I work a full time job, commute 10 hours a week and do a lot of volunteer work at church with our youth, so CTMH got put on the back burner and all priority on it was lost. My husband is currently looking for a job and this has caused us to re-evaluate some of the things in our lives. As he began to search out creative job opportunities in this very difficult economy, I got to thinking about my CTMH business. I really want to get it started again and make it something that will allow me to make the extra money for that new pair of jeans or that fun new QVC kit. Well, the day after I spoke to my husband about this I got an email from a local woman I met on the CK Message Board and she wanted to do a home gathering! Wow! Talk about God's amazing timing! So...I set that gathering up and I am working on getting a workshop set up for November, as well. God provided this just when he knew I would need it! I am so excited about that! My dream came true!

I love reading your stories about your family.

I have two things happen in this last week. My best friend from high school got back in touch with me after a few years of silence. It was so great to hear from her and reestablish that connection!

Also, this morning my son gave me a kiss without being asked. He says he doesn't like kisses any more so this was really nice (he's 6).

Thanks for doing this giveaway!

My dream was fulfilled on Sunday. I walked ALL 60 miles in the Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day (despite the pain and blisters!), and waiting for me at the finish was my amazing aunt, my inspiration for walking. She is currently battling Stage IV cancer, and is SUCH an inspiration to me ... and I couldn't *wait* to walk to her!

What an amazing story...and what an amazing family. You should share more stories about how your family functions...it's inspirational. As for a dream come true...it would be my husband...growing up you read all the cinderella stories and think that life is going to be magical with your "prince charming" and that love is that of romance novels...then I realized it's not...love, family, relationships take work and although my marriage will never show up on the pages of a Nicholas Sparks novel...it is a dream come true for me for different reasons...for the love, support, and special memories I have with my hubby - for how he is ALWAYS there for me and my family no matter what...for how he loves me and I love him!

My dream come true was last week when my 17 year old daughter came in Thursday night at 8pm and told us she was having a sleepover with about 6 of her cheerleading friends and the house and her room were a mess. Well, my 10 and 5 yr old's starting immediately cleaning the house for her with me of course. The next day the two younger ones had an early release day and when they got home they cleaned my older daughters room and set-up air mattresses with blankets and pillows so it would be ready for her and her friends. When my older daugther got home and saw what they had done, she cried and told them how much she truly loves them (a rariety from a high school senior)

What an amazing story and what an amazing family. You need to leave more stories about your family - they are inspirational! As for my dream come true...that would be my husband. Growing up you read all about Cinderella and see these romance movies...it took several years to realize that love and relationships are not really like that. They take work and every day isn't a walk in the park. While the story of my marriage may never show up on the pages of a Nicholas Sparks novel...I feel truely blesses to have found my soul mate...the one who loves me despite all of my flaws...the one who would do anything for me...the one who keeps me grounded...and the one who makes me thankful every morning that I get to see his smile at me from across a room filled with toys, dishes, laundry and two (sometimes screaming) boys. My marriage may not be novel material but to me it is magical none the less!

One of my "MOM" goals came true this week ... my only daughter (married in May of 2007) decided she wanted to learn more about home food preservation. We worked together to bottle peaches, make jam, and prepare corn for the freezer. We had uninterrupted time to make new memories and share favorite times from her childhood. My dream came true when she said, "Mom, it really takes a lot of time and talents to make a home -- thanks!"

It is so much easier now, and I feel like I am doing a better job at both my outside the home job and my inside the home job. I have gotten so much done and feel so much more relaxed this week - I have waited for this for so long!

This is the first year that I have two children attending the same school. My oldest daughter is 7 and in 2nd grade and my middle daughter who is 5 started Kindergarten this year. It amazes me how much easier my Kindergartener adjusted to school having a big sister to show her the way. This week we had another first. The school parking lot was flooded due to all the rain we received from Hurricane Ike and my daughters had to go through a different door and walk through the entire school to get to their classrooms. Of course, my 5 year old was a little scared of this change in routine but my dream came true when my oldest daughter said "Don't worry. I will show you the way", grabbed her sister's hand, and down the hall they went - hand in hand. I was so proud of her at that moment for being such a great big sister!

My son started a new school for the 7th grade after being in the same school for 5 years. He didn't want to leave and was very unhappy with my husband & I for making the change. But the new school had a more advanced program and was better all around for him. After spending most of the summer down in the dumps (almost to tears at times) about his change and saying he would not get involved but simply go to school and come home, we were very upset about whether or not we were making the right choice. But, after the first week of school, he came home and said, "I really like this school, the teachers are awesome, and you were SO right!" You can't imagine the relief and how this made me feel!!!

Since we have no children our yellow lab was our baby and we were the 3 muskateers; however, we lost her the day after Thanksgiving in 2007. She was a gem and everyone loved her and she taught us more than I think we taught her - she spoiled us rotten! In May of 2008 we added another yellow lab to our family - unfortunately this transition hasn't been so smooth and we've had more frustration than enjoyment. She is very independent and standoffish and not your typical lab that aims to please and our little miracles are the days that she reciprocates the love that we continue to pour out to her everyday regardless of the frustration!

I usually lurk, but I am going to join in on this one. I have had many dreams come true lately.

1st I have an oldest 12 year old daughter who saw a girl at school head hung low and hiding behind hair. Kori started saying hello, then introduced herself, then left her own lunch group to sit by this sweet lonely girl. Now this girl is part of the group. without dramatics I told my daughter she may have saved someones life.

2nd, My 10 year old takes special care of the autistic girl in her class I finally realised how Emily's teachers turn her over to Jenna knowing full well Jenna will take care of her.

3rd. I have a cheerful 7 year old son who LOVES to make people smile and will go to any length to get there. From drawn pictures to goofy humor to big hugs. whatever it takes.

and 4th (finally) Law school put a HUGE strain on our marriage. I let priorities fan out elsewhere and another year in that town would have killed our marriage. My husband and I have struggled lots over the years since, but he never stopped taking care of me. I just missed out on 3 important words. This is a guy that does laundry and dishes and cooks and cleans and is an amazing Dad so I focused on the acts of love. But over the past few months the words are sneeking back in.

So this one is long (sorry) But I have much joy and gratitude right now. Thanks Lisa for making me acknowledge it.

Because money is really tight with my family I went to various department stores asking if they had any free samples of this fragrance. None of the stores had any, but I always helped myself to a spray of the tester. Then all day I would tell my family, "Smell this! Doesn't it smell wonderful?!" My sweet husband found the perfume for half price on Amazon and bought it for me. It arrived yesterday...a dream come true.

Mine might be a bit long. Last year my sons grades started to go down so we made the very hard decision to not let him play travel hockey this season. He needed to concentrate on school and the travel team practices 3-5 nights a week. He was so sad because all of his hockey friends moved on to the next level and he felt a bit left out, but he seemed to still be enjoying himself and his study/homework habbits are already so much better. Well, someone asked him where he's been because they haven't seen him at the rink and he's so well known for being a great hockey player, what is he going to do now? My dream come true was his answer. He said, "I'm not only a hockey player, I'm a Christian, country singin', animal lovin, boy who loves hockey, football and baseball, too!" We talked about these things before, but I thought these words fell on deaf ears. I was so glad that he could see past the trap of being identified by 1 thing he's good at and knowing that he's so much more than that one thing! Does that make ANY sense? I hope so, it sure touched me!

In high school I was much more likely to hang out with guys - they seemed so much easier-going and less dramatic than most the girls I knew. After I was married, I began to be very lonely for some girl friends (I had just left my life of college room mates to live with my new husband!). It was a couple of years of this lonely feeling until we moved into our new house. Because of this, I have made the most wonderful friendships I have had in my whole life. It was truly a dream and many prayers answered that I am able to have such meaningful relationships with other women who face the same challenges as I do and who love me just the way I am. For that I am truly blessed.

My son has central auditory processing disorder, a disorder he has struggled with since I adopted him. He has worked so hard for almost ten years to be able to be fully integrated back into the regular classroom. We've come really close in the past, but after meeting with teachers etc. we learned that he will be able to be in the classroom all the time, and only if he needs special help will he need to go to resource. As a single Mom, that always wonders if what I do will ever be enough, I feel so blessed that we made this huge milestone. He'll have to continue to work much harder than most kids, but what a huge step for us! So proud of him:)

i've found, over the years, that sometimes our expectations of what a dream is changes. my husband has been on strike for going on 2 weeks now. as you can imaginge, the first week, was REALLY hard, all the regular routines were thrown into chaos and their was a lot of discord. This week, he is taking over the 'getting ready and taking everyone to school' aspect of life, which is actually a dream come true for now. Mommy gets to sleep in and relax in the morning!

Your daughter is so adorable. My dream came true when my 17 year old daughter sprung on us a big cheerleader sleepover the night before it was going to happen and my 2 younger daughters helped clean the house and the next day had early release and came home and cleaned my older daughters room and set-up air mattresses and blankets, etc. so that it would be ready for her and her friends. When my older daughter came home and saw what they did for her, she cried and told them how much she truly loved them ( a rariety for a senior in high school) I cried too.

My dream cme true is that my 4 year old son is excelling in his pre-school class. I had been so worried about him starting school as he is my emotional child. He would get frustrated when he couldn't get something right and he would get scared being away from mom and dad. Well he started and he loves it. I love seeing the joy on his face when he shows me all the art and papers he created. And he is already writing his name. He is writing it everywhere! I am so proud of my boy!

HI Lisa,
I am the mother of 4 boys.My 8 year old has autism. Everyday I tell my kids that I love them and they all say it back except for Mikey, whose main issue is that he is verbally challenged,he can only say a few words. I usually say I love you for him and he laughs. One day,I was with Mikey and I started to say it,but after I barely got out the word "I",he said
"LOVE YOU!" He finally said it!!!
I have waited eight years to hear that!! I had tears in my eyes, but he was smiling. My dream came true right then and there, and I know there will be more coming true in the future.

Our oldest son seems to struggle when it comes to acts of service. when for our middle child, this is a natural act. So my husband and I have been trying to come up with ways in which to encourage him in service of others. we recently launched a new family business. this week we all got together to help out making boxes and such. our boys ages are 8, 5 and 4 so i didn't have terribly high expectations. well! i was proven wrong. our natural servant did as we expected BUT our eldest son blew us away! he took charge and was a true leader, offering words of encouragement, helped his brother come up with more efficient ways to get the job done, and just hammered it out! I pulled him aside and told him, "See, you can serve and do it well." I told him how very proud i was of him. It was awesome to see him really strive out of his comfort zone and enjoy it as well. We are so blessed. oh, as for our youngest, well, he was the entertainer. keeping us in stitches all night! LOL!

I have been wanting my own digital camera (Canon SLR) for about two years. I have been taking pictures with an old digital camera which takes ok pictures. This camera takes forever to take the picture, which makes me miss the moment. I told my husband it is very important for me to be able to capture all moments in life and it is hard, with my old camera.

On Monday, I arrived home to find my camera (Canon SLR Digital 10.1) waiting for me on the table, along with a beautiful letter with it. It said....

"Honey, I realized I have never said thank you for everything you do for me. You never complain about waking up with me at 3:45 a.m. 6 days a week to fix my breakfast and lunch. You are very patience with me when I can't figure out how to assemble a products and/or equipment. You are the most supportive person I have ever met, even when I go overboard with my musical equipment. In the pass, I have purchased various toys and you have never complained or say "what about me" You just smile and say "so cool". It is amazing to me that I have found someone as wonderful as you. Our house is alway clean, you have dinner ready, and you have a full time job. It is wonderful that you can do all this and still be as sweet as you are, thank you. I know you have been wanting a camera for a very long time, and the funny thing is you've never once pushed to get it. So I decided I needed to show you I care and I listen. Thank you sweetheart for being the love of my life, please don't ever change."

Sorry for the long message, but I thought WOW, a dream come true, my husband does appreciate me. I am still crying to this very day.

I'm 4 months pregnant with our surprise 3rd child. I worked all day on Monday (even shampooing carpets through our entire house) to get caught up on all the cleaning that has gone by the wayside as I've been too sick to do very much. Not only did my 3 year old and 1 year old help me clean their rooms, but my husband left me a wonderful note written on our bathroom mirror the next morning telling me how much he loves me and how much I do for our family. It made my day as I got out of bed since I was so sore I could barely move, but that note helped me make it through the day. I have a dream husband, who not only treats me wonderfully, but sets such an example, and actively teaches his two little boys so they will learn the right way to treat women.

I have really been on him to get this taken care of,so that his and moms final wishes would be taken care of,the way they wanted them to be. We are a very close family, but without this Will,I can see some major issues being just that, issues that may cause some friction among my siblings, that I would HATE to see happen. So with this being taken care of,then I feel confident that my folks last wishes will give us all the peace of mind we won't have to worry about when that time comes.

My dream come true has been unfolding right before my eyes for the last two weeks. My very own "SCRAPBOOK ROOM". My husband owns a metal building construction company and has built some amazing buildings/homes. He has built several structures at our home for his own personal use. I have expressed for the last several years of how wonderful it would be to have my own space to create and crop without having to put the project away so the family could eat dinner on my scrapbook desk (AKA: Dinner Room Table). To my surprise, 2 weeks ago my husband presented me with drawings for my very own personal "SCRAPBOOK ROOM" just steps away from the house. Yesterday they poured concrete for the slab and I hope to be moved in by mid-October.

This may not be so much a dream come true, but more of an answered prayer. We just moved from Mississippi to North Carolina and my oldest daughter started first grade. The first few weeks were miserable as it became very apparent that she was not prepared academically. We made a tough decision to put her back in kindergarten. My heart broke for her because she had just made a couple of good friends in her first grade class and now we had to rip her out of that environment. After much tearful prayer, she started her new class this Monday. It is always wonderful to see and remember how faithful God is. She is doing beautifully and has already made new friends. She also loves her new teacher. This has been a huge relief for me this week!

And the TSV kit looks so great. I can't wait!! I'm thinking the Poppy one if that's the one you show on your pages. I still have some Hawaii pictures that I need to scrap and you've inspired me with yours! Thanks!

Now for my dream that came true. If I read it correctly, you meant just a dream that came true in my life, not necessary just this week right?!? Well either way, my husband and I met in '94 and he had plans to move to MT in '95 to finish his degree prior to our meeting. So nothing quite like meet the man of your dreams and then he says, I'm moving 1300 miles away in a few months. He did move to MT for a short time and I got to come up for a visit. Being a sheltered girl born and raised in Oklahoma, I had never seen the awe-struck beauty of the mountains in Montana before and I fell in love with it. Financial aide was a BIG headache for him so he ended up coming back to Oklahoma and finished his degree there. Of course I was thrilled he came home, but we both loved Montana and hoped it would work out for us to move up there some day. It took 10 years, but our dreams did come true, we moved up here and we built our home and love it up here. Now 3 years into living our dream, we still love it and I'm still awe-struck at God's beauty that he has given us!

Also, my oldest started Kindergarten this year and to my surprise (because kindergarten was sooo long ago for me) he brought home something he wrote in class "I love my family." It almost made me and my hubby cry. It is proudly displayed on our fridge!

Have a great week!

I now drive him to the train in the morning and pick him up at night. A couple years ago, we started something whenever we sit down all together as a family for dinner (which, sadly, is only once or twice a week!). We share our "high-lows" where we say our high poing of the day and our low point (saw it in a movie once). At first, we had to kind of force the kids to share, but now it is they who suggest it and want to hear about our day as well as tell us about theirs. It's a great way to stay connected as it opens the way for deeper questions about those times. Thanks for the chance to win!

Lisa,
I found out I am going to be a Grandma for the first time. I can't wait. I have 4 fantastic kids and a super daughter-n-law; now to add another little one to our family is so fantastic. I can't wait!

That is such a sweet FHE. I look forward to the day when my kids can do the lessons. My husband recently took over the finances. This may not sound like a dream come true, but it is for me. I hate dealing with it all by myself. Having him be more involved and helping makes everything better at my house.

My dream has always been to be a wife and mother. The first dream came true three years ago when I married my wonderful and supportive hubby, David. My second dream came true last November when we welcomed our first child, a son. This was a miracle as he came 3 months prematurely and after 15 months of infertility. He spent 70 days in the NICU and is a healthy and thriving little boy.

My life has been blessed and another dream has come true. Two weeks ago we found out that we are going to have another baby. We never dreamed of having a baby the "old fashioned way" but it happened for us. We feel thrilled and blessed and amazed in being able to get pregnant and not have to worry about the crazy fertility process.

My husband and I rarely take the time to take a vacation. On his vacations (I am a homemaker), we enjoy getting to work around our home. But, still, I would like to go somewhere occasionally. Yesterday, I reserved a cabin at the lake for us for his fall vacation. I am so excited and can't hardly wait for October. I know we'll enjoy the hot tub on the deck and some peace and quiet!!

I was dreading potty training our three year old and it had to be done before preschool started. I know I had a lot of negative energy, but once my husband and I took a deep breath and relaxed, she immediately got it. She was potty trained in less than a month and doing great. I know it might not sound like a miracle, but in our home that was a big deal.

My dream came true twice...first on May 21, 2003 and then again on July 16, 2007. I had always known I wanted to have children, but the man I met and fell in love with, could not have children. While both serving in the Air Force, we found out about a procedure that might allow us to have our own children after all. We were accepted to the Infertility program and began trying In-Vitro Fertilization. After 2 very disappointing failures, I finally became pregnant. Our son was born on May 21, 2003. When we decided to give it another try, I became pregnant with twins. Unfortunately I suffered an early miscarriage. We were devastated, but after some time we decided that we would try one more time, and I became pregnant again...giving birth to our daughter on July 16, 2007. My children are my "dream come true"!

I just got my dream job!!! I have wanted to mix what I love with a way to help my husband provide for our family. I also need to stay home and care for my adorable children. IT HAPPENED!! In addition, I work with the most amazing women. Besides being so very talented at scrapbooking they are just all around role models. It is truly a dream come true that you have a huge part in!

Hi Lisa

Thanks for sharing your family's stories. You have a great daughter and should be very proud of her.
My dream, at least in the last few months, is for my husband to find a new job. His current job has him so frustrated and stressed out that its affecting us, and I don't want that to happen. I would be so happy if he could find a job that he really loves.

Thanks!

My 2 year old daughter was making a huge mess by blowing bubbles in her chocolate milk a few days ago. When I realized what she was doing I got a little frustrated at the mess and asked her to help clean it up. She thought for a second and said. I'm SORRY MOM! I LOVE YOU! I'll HELP YOU! It was so cute! I just love how kids suprise us with these phrases that you never knew they could say (yet anyway!) Kids never cease to amaze me!

My children constantly amaze me. This weekend they went to their Daddy's defense against some family members who are causing him pain. They acted in a mature manner and basically told these people that they were hurtful and they had no right to cause their Daddy to be upset. I was so proud of them. They are better humans for not coming down to the level of these hurtful people but instead showing love and respect for their father.

My son cooked dinner two nights in a row! I'm sure it has something to do with taking a home ec. class in school but hey he did it!

Hi Lisa,
What a sweet thing for Brecken to do for the family.

My dream come true is that my husband and I are celebrating our five year wedding anniversary later this week and he decided we should both take the day off from work. He's planning a fun day for the two of us to spend together.

Thanks for the contest! Looking forward to watching you on QVC next week!

This is so easy for me and I never have to think about it when asked a question like this.
My biggest blessing is that we bacame a family through the miracle of adoption 3 years ago. The adoption journey is a roller coaster to say the least and I look back and am thankful for every minute of it..the ups and the downs.
I loved Brecken's favorite quote. I found a new one that I like.
It is from a song that our high school choir is working on at church:

"You have been faithful, You have been good. You have been perfect for a thousand generations. I will not faulter, and I will not be moved. I will trust in You."

First of all - thanks for sharing such a beautiful story about Brecken!! You have such an amazing family!! You should be VERY proud! I agree...great photo of Brecken with the poppies! I also love the TSV - thanks for telling us about it! Can't wait for Monday!!
Now, on to my dream come true. My daughter had a horrible school year last year. When anyone would ask her how she liked Kindergarten, she would say, "my teacher yells a lot." Now, I have been a Kindergarten teacher, and I believe it should be a magical year for the children!! Anyway, my husband and I decided to send her to a new school this year, and last week, she came running out of the building with a HUGE smile on her face! She was positively beaming!! She LOVES school!! That is truly a dream come true (and the answer to LOTS of prayers!!)

My dream come true will be when I lose 100 pounds -but the good news is that I have already lost 10, so I have finally started the journey. Was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last month so I have resolved to stop eating the bad things that can feed the cancer and the by product is that I am losing weight as I fight my cancer. YAY!
MY girls helped me clean this week too and my 15 year old was reading the blog about Brecken too so maybe it will inspire her.
Blesings to you and yours, Victoria
