So, the moment I've dreaded Kade's entire life finally happened last night:

I have to tell you, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I cried a little during the ceremony but just felt excited for what Kade has in store.

The bad part? Trying to get great photos at the BBQ before the ceremony. First, the battery on my SLR died and of course I didn't have the charger. So, I used my point and shoot which worked okay. Second, the sun was so bright so getting decent photos was a challenge. Third? Just check out the photos below:

So here we are trying to get a good shot of Kade with Mom and Dad:

This one was taken after the ceremony. At least the wind isn't blowing and we are all smiling at the camera!

And a good picture of the family:

(Collin's eyes are shut)

(Now Sage is upset because she wants to be playing with her cousins, not taking a photo!)

All in all, a day and night to always remember!

I took these photos today and they are sure to put a smile on your face. I dropped by a last-day school activity with Sage's class and got a picture of Sage and Nathan--a boy who I think has a crush on her and she has a crush on him.

This photo is the good one! Love how they walked off holding hands! So darn adorable and innocent. Oh to be a child again!

Have a great weekend!

Lisa

Thanks for sharing. Love seeing that you get photos like me--someone has their eyes shut, hair blowing across the face, someone not happy and won't smile, etc. etc.

Yes, I'm sure it's very sad to have your first born graduate but I'm sure it's such a feeling of accomplishment that you raised a wonderful son.

Enjoy!

Oh my word, I LOVE that last shot of the two kidlets walking off with hands held. You simply could not PAY enough for that memory. When I ask my kids to do that my 6 year old (boy) looks at me like my head is on fire!! LOL. His 7 year old sister doesn't have a problem with it...yet... and my 3 year old is normally screaming for something else. Yup, I'm livin' the dream ;-)

Glad you made it through the graduation in one piece. Often we are so worked up about things emotionally that when the dreaded day arrives, it's not as bad as we thought.

You gotta love the point-n-shoots, makes you appreciate your SLR even more! But at least that's what Photoshop was made for :-)

What a milestone for Kade, you and your family! Enjoy each and every moment, as I'm sure you will!

Whenever I see a picture of your family I think, "how are their pictures always so perfect? I can't even get one boy to look at the camera and smile, let alone 3." Finally we know that the Bearnson family does not always have perfect pictures :)

I love photo shoots like this. I know it is frustrating at the time but as time goes by it becomes funny! We did a Christmas card shoot like this - with the dogs. If we looked good the dogs didn't and if the dogs looked good - we didn't. When I finally looked at all the pictures I came up with a great idea. On the outside I had the pictures that didn't work (including my favorite where the people look great but the dogs are backwards!) and then on the inside THE picture that was perfect. The caption was "it may take us a while but we REALLY wanted to wish you a merry Christmas". People loved it!
Congrats on the graduation.

I can totally understand your feelings. My daughter graduated on Thursday night. I actually didn't cry at the ceremony, but blubbered at the baccalaureate ceremony. Both of our kids are off on some great adventures. Let's hope their moms can handle it.

Beautiful photos ... even with the oops moments, afterall life is full of times like that. Celebrate the joy of raising a wonderful young man ... and know that with that upbringing he will make you proud when he goes off and pursues his dreams and then one day raises children of his own in the fashion that he has learned from his own parents. Graduation ... just the beginning of many more happy moments for Kade and for your whole family.
Congratulations ...

Hard to believe that you are now the mom of a high school graduate! I remember when I first subscribed to the magazine and seeing pics of your kids in your layouts...they were so little! It's amazing how fast time can fly. I don't know if I'll be able to handle my son's graduation in eight years as well...
Thanks for sharing!

I love the less-than-perfect photos - they capture life the way it really is.

Congrats to Kade. He has a wonderful future ahead of him. I know his loving parents will be there to support him every step of the way.

congratulations to Kade and your whole family! I think non-perfect pictures add character to layouts... or there is always Photoshop!

Hi Lisa,
When my son graduated last June I too described it as the day I had dreaded his whole life! I wish I could tell you that the first year your child is away from you isn't so bad, but it is pretty sad. But you do endure and they do come home again. Just remember that you have done your best to prepare him to be on his own and to keep himself safe. Kade seems like a wonderful kid and so ready to take those first few steps in adulthood. Be excited for the adventures he has ahead!
Thinking of you,
Mickey

CONGRATULATIONS!! and YES, this is what Photoshop is for. . .to give pictures a little more LOVE.

As others may have done I have some quick fixes, already done and saved, which help the pics look better.

How can I get them to you?
;) Bryan

Dear Lisa,
I am so glad to hear that Kade's graduation wasn't "as bad as you thought it would be". My oldest is graduating this Friday and I have also been dreading it. I have been told to focus on how happy he is right now and I need to be happy for him too. Well, easier said than done. Congrats to you for making it through and Kade as well. I'm on deck with kleenex and a xanax in hand! =)
Blessings from one mom to another,

Real life photos can be challenging - the grouping reminded me of my son's recent 8th grade graduation shots. But the photos are the perfect candidate for Photoshop Elements new group shot feature to combine the best of the best group shots.

The pictures are hilarious! These are the pictures that will bring laughter, and memories to your family more than the perfect ones.
The year my daughter graduated it was the same kind of day windy and sunny so Lisa we have the same kind of pictures! It has been two years and every summer when she comes home from college it is harder and harder to say goodbye in the fall when she returns to school knowing that one day she won't be moving home for the summer.

Lisa,
You have had so much going on the past month. I pray life slows down some. I know that it doesn't seem to happen in the summer but I hope it doesn't seem so hectic. I missed seeing you on QVC, guess I was working and just read about your announcement. I will miss you tremendously, always enjoyed you being on QVC. I get my CK mag so will keep updated there.... Have a super summer. Penny
