It's been one of "those" days! Plus be sure to enter the contest below!

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest today by sending Barb a card. If you haven't yet, you still have a week before I'll select two winnters. For more information, read the post below.

Okay--so today was one of "those" days. I'm trying to get out the door for a week long vacation to Lake Powell. My hubby and I started packing last Saturday. It's such a pain to get ready for--bedding, food, towels, toiletries, life jackets, water toys, games, etc. But once I'm there, it's all worth it. On top of the mayhem of getting ready, here's what else I had going on today:

* A large deadline at work (I'm finishing it tonight--probably won't go to bed)
* Ten girls ages 10-11 over from church for an activity day.
* Thank you notes written
* A visit to the hospital--a dear friend had emergency open-heart surgery last Friday and just got out of ICU
* A trip to the airport to drop off a car for our Florida friends to drive down to Lake Powell
* A trip to the book store
* Took a present over to Jacquelyn Hurley for her birthday
* Rear ended a car (luckily no damage)
* A trip to Costco and my local super market
* Laundry
* Packing
* More laundry
* A quick smoothie break with a friend (thanks, Pam!)
* Clothes dropped off at the local Good Will
* Cleaned the car that was dropped off at the airport
* More laundry
* Ran to get a prescription
* Helped Collin with a golf fund-raiser
* Worked out pet sitting for our dog, house cat and stray cat
* Making food for the trip

Okay--you get the picture. I got home at 4:00 p.m. today exhausted. I was greeted by this:

Absolute shock! Brecken had rode her bike to the grocery store with a friend and came home with this 10-week-old kitten! I couldn't believe it. On top of everything else, I now had this responsibility. A grown woman was in the front of the store with this last little kitten. Brecken said she would love it while she was holding it and the lady suddenly vanished in thin air! Brecken said she didn't know she had ask me if she could have a kitten before she bought it home! What?!?

Now for my big question. Is it really legal for an adult to give a kitten to a kid without a parent being there?

After the shock rubbed off, we had a fun time playing pranks on my friends, Kristy Banks and Cherie Janiec. We placed the kitten in a beautiful basket all nestled in a pink fluffy blanket on the front porch and rang the door and ran. We even put a tag on the kitten at each house saying "To Alix (Kristy's daughter), Love, ??" or "To Cherie, Love ??." After a good laugh on each of the door steps (and a ton of convincing to Roy Banks but he didn't budge), we still had no takers. Cherie did help us find a place for "it" to stay (still don't have a name for it) for the next week.

If you live in Utah, let me know if you want a cat! As you can see, it's adorable and would make a lovely pet.

Thanks for listening. And, I'm off to the lake for some much needed rest and relaxation.

Sincerely,
Lisa

Awww, I'd love to take that little cutie! I already have 2 cats and a dog but I live way too far from Utah!

Sounds like you need that upcoming vacation! Enjoy it!

Awe, the cat is adorable and lucky to have ended up (even temporarily) with a family who is willing to put the time in to find it a loving home. Have a fun time at Lake Powell! It's my favorite vacation spot, too!

Hey Lisa,
Wow, that is a lot to pack into a day & still have time to blog about it! Anyway, have fun at Lake Powell. I'll be looking forward to reading about your adventures. And what is it with you and cats??? Seems to be some higher power bringing those creatures into your life ;) Thanks for presenting the motivation to send a card to your friend- reminds me to seize the opportunity more in my own life.

Oh! The kitten is quite adorable! Strange that someone would just hand it to her and run, though. That is disconcerting. It sounds like life is pretty insane for you right now! I understand that one!

well Lisa, it truly sounds as if that vacation is MUCH needed and deserved. ENJOY.
allergic to kitties and our 5 pup-a-kids wouldn't take to the kitten, plus kinda far here in Tpa. Good luck finding "it" a good home. Shame on that woman for the disappearing act. Hmm, not nice.
Hugs,
Jackie

Same thing happened to me when I was about 12yrs old...in front of a Safeway grovery store...my parents were not happy either. However after their shock shifted to understanding I ended up taking wonderful care of my cat until he passed away at 14yrs old. I am not sure of whether it is legal or not but I will say that I think some people are either desperate or obviously do not respect the family rules and/or values. I know my dad (if I am being honest)I think wondered if I was being truthful...was I really left there holding this cat or did I bring it home hoping that i could keep it. Again after the shock wore off they realized that I was genuinly afraid that if I took the cat to a shelter it may live a differnt life...so they let me keep it. I will say he was a good friend and a great companion over the years. I stil miss him!
Blessings to you - Susan

WOW you're a total over-achiever. I can't believe all you had done before 4pm today. LOL

My vote is to name the kitten 'Lucky' as in Lucky to have found such a great home.

I am not a fan of pets. If my kids brought home a kitten especially, it would have to go since I am so allergic.

But just like the Lord sends people into our lives, I truly believe pets are sent into our lives to bless us in ways we never imagined.

Hi Lisa,
I don't know about whether it is "legal" to give a child a pet without parental permission, but I'm sure its not the way it should be handled. If the lady took off on Brecken while she was holding the kitten, it sounds like her intention was to get rid of the kitten. It was a blessing that Brecken was the one she left it with.

Enjoy your vacation and your new pet.

Wow! You are Superwoman to get all that done before 4:00pm. And that's just crazy that the woman with the kitten just disappeared.

I hope you have a very relaxing vacation. You deserve it!

Lisa, I live in Utah and would love to take the kitty if you haven't already found another home. The funny thing is is that I have been thinking lately that I would love to get a pet and was thinking that a kitty would be fun and not as time consuming as a puppy. Our 14 year old basset hound passed away from old age about a year ago and I miss having an animal around. Let me know and I hope you had a fabulous vacation. I love Lake Powell.

Dru

P.S. You probably don't remember because you meet so many people but I met you when you came for a meeting at Imaginisce while I worked there.

Hey Lisa,
My neighbor has two very adorable kittens that need a good home. One is orange and white not striped, with the most beautiful blue eyes and the other one is a tiger stripe with green eyes. You interested? :)

God bless you Lisa,
thanks for the smiles today; you are a blessing. I enjoy reading your blog and of course, scrapbooking, cardmaking and Creating Keepsakes.

If Utah wasn't so far away, I'd love the kitty but thankfully Arkansas is a long way away or I'd be tempted. lol
Have a wonderful day.

Have a GREAT trip.

I wanted to make a comment about the SLICE by Making Memories that was on QVC.... i finally received after a very long waitlist and it did not work it has been impossible dealing with this company(Making Memories). They want to try to fix it and send it back even though I paid for a new one not a refurbished one. Please warn your bloggers that they should NOT get this product, stick with the CRICUT. I would have returned it but i bought additional cartridges and too complicated to return those.... ugh!! needed to vent!

This is to Karen Foster.

I've had a "Slice" since they first came out, and I absolutely love it! It's so easy to use. I've made some wonderful scrapbook pages and cards using the Slice. I don't know what happened with the machine you received, but mine is great. Good luck with yours.

Barb :)
