It's Here!

Yes--Kade's mission call came in the mail yesterday. For the last few days I've been documenting EVERYTHING--from an empty mailbox to memorabilia around the house to the post office calling yesterday morning to tell us it had arrived. Last night around 75 of Kade's closest friends and family members arrived for dinner and to share in the moment of opening the envelope. We recorded guesses and good wishes on our camcorder and ran across the street while one of Kade's best friends opened his mission call (and we recorded him opening it). The moment finally arrived. Kade opened the envelope, read where he will be living for two years and we all screamed and were so excited! Steve then took the camcorder and recorded everyones reactions! We couldn't wait to create the movie for YouTube to share this exciting moment with you. We watched the footage, rewound, watched again, fast forwarded. EVERYTHING was recorded except Kade opening his mission call!!! Somehow the button was on standby, not record, and NOTHING was recorded!!! Okay--it was late last night when I discovered this and at this point I just had to laugh!! Steve had us a record a "fake" opening--very cute! Luckily we found one of our nieces who recorded it on her phone. So--after a little blood, sweat and tears, we were able to get that file today and we'll be making the movie tonight.

Moral of the story--make sure "record" is on when you camcorder something!

Stay tuned tomorrow or Saturday for where he'll be going. Let me just tell you, some of you will be getting slippers and a nice, comfy blanket!!!

Oh my gosh! I've been checking your blog ALL day long since early this morning! I can't believe I have to wait some more! Actually, I'm laughing! Not having the recording on during the most important part of the video is something that would normally happen to me! So I can relate! Can't wait to hear and see where Kade is going! I'm sure the video is great! Just try and get it done by tomorrow, instead of Saturday! The suspense is killing me! :)
(Sorry if this shows up twice...I was having computer problems!)

This is totally a me moment....if I have the camera charged and ready to go I will discover I left the memory card in the computer or something similar. I loved your positive attitude and am anxiously awaiting the news.

Oh, I have been dying to know where he's been called to serve. On Tuesday night, I read your blog in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep. I decided then to put down the "Dominican Republic" because no one else had guessed that place. But, then I dreamed about him opening his call and going to the Netherlands. (Weird, I know, but I'm sure it was because I had just read your blog post.) The next day I still put down Dominican Republic because no one else had guessed that. I'm going to be so mad at myself if he's going to the land of tulips and I didn't put it down! :)

The suspense is killing me. Congratulations to Kade. Sorry about the video camera. At my oldest son's 3rd birthday party (he is now 15) I took tons and tons of pictures because I had just started scrapbooking and was excited to scrapbook this party. This was before we had a digital camera, and don't you know I took all those pictures without film in the camera!!

That is nice some one had it recorded. We had the same kind of thing for our son's first Christmas. The day after we noticed we had not taken any pictures. Then my daughters blessing was so busy and the next day again we found no pictures.

Too funny! How wonderful though. You were too busy being a family to think about pushing a button.
No worries. You will never forget the moment.

My son is leaving on November 11th for his mission. When the letter came in the mail we all laughed about the part in the movie "I'm going to Boise. Where's a map!" and then he opened his letter and GUESS WHAT???? He's going to BOISE!!! Seriously...... and I caught it on film only you can't hear anything because everyone is laughing too loudly!

I can't believe some one guessed Philadelphia. Do we need missionaries here?

Good Luck Kade and if you come to Philly you'll have a great time.

Good Luck Lisa and family, I'm sure you'll miss this sweet boy - uh, young man!
