Kade's Mission Call!
Watch our little movie to see where Kade is going on his mission. Thanks to Keaton Mitchell for saving the day and getting the big moment on her phone. Also, special thanks to Steve and Kade for creating this movie.
Oh--and there were two winners! Way to go to Skgberry and Susie Lavender who guessed the correct place. Please contact me at steven.bearnson@gmail.com. Let me know your snail mail addresses!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Kade. Sounded like you are English speaking. It will be the start of some of the best years of your adult life. Be diligent and serve to the fullest--no matter what. ;)

That was so cool to watch! Congrats to Kade!!! And to the rest of the Bearnson family...NC is a short plane ride when you need a visit :)
How wonderful that he isn't leaving the country. I think as a Mum myself, I wouldn't want my child leaving the country. I just would be so relieved that it doesn't involve oceans between us. So congratulations Elder Bearnson. I wish you well.
Where's the friend going? ;) Congratulations!
so I cried. What a great film to have. Congrats and Good luck.
That's awesome! Are you able to visit him during the 2 years?
Beautiful tribute!---LOVED it! Congrats Kade, yes, it will be the best two years! Work Hard, Pray Hard, Be Obedient and you will be blessed!
We live in Pinehurst, NC - part of the Raleigh, NC mission. The mission president and his wife were just at Stake Conference last Sunday. Looking forward to hopefully having Elder Bearnson in our ward! Congratulations. And don't worry...he'll get a cultural experience out here for sure!
Congratulations! That so brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy for your family.
I got chills watching that! We live in Charlotte NC...darn! Raleigh mission is great though...we have lots of LDS friends there. He'll love it here in NC (once he gets over the initial shock of hot/humid summers!) :) Congrats Kade!
Congratulations!
Glad you got the video to work and so proud of Kade! He will be an awesome missionary! Brought a tear to my watching it because it made me remember back 16 months ago when we went through all that with Ry!
Congrats to Kade! How exciting...I'm sure he will be a fantastic missionary and teach many people the gospel. And he will fall in love with the people of NC!

Love you guys so much!!!
Les, Dave, Jackson and Emma
That wonderful video brought tears to my eyes, I just remembered when my son got his mission call 3 years ago , during october...
Kade, it doesn't matter if you have to cross the ocean or not, it doesn't matter if you will talk your native language or not, the most important thing is that you've been call to serve where the LORD wants you to go. Congratulations!!! , and enjoy this last time with your family and friends, remember that time flies!!!
Lisa, du you have your Kleenex boxes already? Believe me, you will use them!!!
One more thing: it was so good to see your mom in the video; how is your dad doing?
Congrats again!!!
Karina
Wow! Great video...How exciting NC!! Such a beautiful place and the people there are just amazing. You will come home with hundreds of new friends!! Share the "Good News" with the great people in the south Kade and you will be a blessed man. Congrats and good luck!!
Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing that wonderful moment with us-we'll be praying for a safe and wonderful Mission for Kade and strength for your family while he is a way serving.
So glad he is not going very far away!! We will definately be praying for a safe and loving mission for him!! Congrats to all of you!!
My husbands' non-member brother and famiy live in Raleigh. Maybe I should introduce them...
Congratulations Kade!
I am so glad you are staying in the country! Being a mom, I know I would want you here. I also don't think the video said on what day you leave. Just wondering. I know, through your mom's blog, what a wonderful young man you are, so I know you will have a very blessed and successful mission. Best of luck to you!
Barb :)
And to you, Lisa, I know you must have so many mixed emotions running through you right now: Pride in your awesome son, happiness that he gets to embark on this wonderful journey, relief that he is going to be in this country, and sadness because you will miss him. It'll be hard at first, as you know, but keep remembering what a wonderful job you and your husband did in raising Kade, and have faith that he will be exactly where he is meant to be.
Love, Barb :)
Oh, I cried. How exciting!!
What a sweet way to record such a sweet event. With three boys who will hopefully be there someday, it made me cry. Many blessings to your Elder Bearnson.
Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing your video with us. So touching. I couldn't watch without crying. Our missionary has 6 month left and this brought back so many memories.
May I ask if your friend has instructions for those darling countdown blocks she made?
Congratulations to your son and your dear family.
Congratulations Elder Bearnson and family! Thank you for sharing this part of your lives with us. It was very touching. I am orginally from North Carolina (Piedmont area). You will love it. The people are very friendly. Take care.
Congratulation "Elder Bearnson"!!!
No Malaria or Smallpox vaccines needed!!!!!!!!
Where did your best friend get called to serve? That was a touching and beautiful song playing in the background!
Cool video...what a fun way to record that memory.
Congrats on raising a son who is worthy to serve our Lord for two years.
p.s. just funny seeing your mailman dressed as a regular person in minivan! ha. love it!
There's something very special about opening that call. This sure brought back memories and tears. Thanks for sharing your special moment and good luck Elder!
Way to go Kade!!! Congrats and at least he will still be in the good ole USA!
Congatulations! My nephew served his mission in Raleigh just a few years ago and had a great experience. Good luck to Kade - an inspiration to all :)
Have fun Kade, remember to enjoy yourself, this will be an amazing journey for you. Lisa, keep your chin up, try to remember the excitement you felt on you mission...
best wishes for the whole family
What an amazing keepsake that video is!! Wow. Good luck on your misson, Kade!!
Tears of joy for all of you !! Congratulations. And thank you for allowing us into your home. We love you !!!
Wow was not expecting tears to come with that! I am not of your faith I am Catholic and that was just so amazing!! Congrats to Kade and the Bearnson Family. I feel like I have watched your kids grow up, so I so enjoyed getting to "share" that moment. Thanks so much.
God Bless you Kade on your Mission! NC is a great state!!
Beautiful movie...but you left out info about where his best friend is going. Can you let us know (with his friend's permission, of course).
Remember that Jessica Sprague lives in Apex/Cary area. She will be a great help, too.
I live in Willow Spring, only 25 mins from the Raleigh Mission.
Congrats.....yes, where did your friend get sent to?
Glad to hear he'll be in a Southern state! I am next door in Tennessee. I'm sure he'll have a wonderful experience in North Carolina!
Thanks for sharing the news with us!
When I first started scrapbooking Kade was just a wee lad... alright, he was older than me but a lad none-the-less. I cannot believe he's 18. Seems like just yesterday I was reading about his space themed wooden car... the one that won best decorated. Cool car by the way. God bless.
My former boss of the company I work for is the mission president in the North Carolina Raleigh mission (he has temporarily left the company to serve as mission president). Pres. and Sis. Cotterell are absolutely amazing and I'm sure Kade will love serving with them as much as I enjoyed working with Pres. Cotterell and associating with his sweet wife the last few years. It's a privilege to know them.
So your video and the beautiful music have me sitting here crying at 5:25 in the am
Goodness!
Where can I find that music?
Congrats to Kade!
Jill
Oh my gosh! That is so ironic - our sons got their mission calls the same month and I'm sending mine to your side of the country (Idaho - in November) and you are sending yours to my state!
I wish him the best of luck on his mission!
While I don't really understand the whole mission thing, it's obvious it is a big deal for you and others of your faith. So thank you for sharing it. It was a wonderful little movie.
As tears are streeming down my eyes. I am so excited for you all.
Congratulations Elder Bearnson!
That is one fabulous video!
Thanks for sharing!!!
I am so excited for you!
I know you are so proud! I live in Sc and have a daughter and her husband that are in at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. What part of NC will he be in?
Kathy
Our whole family watched this today! We think Kade is a great guy and it thrills us all that he has his call~
Love the Kohlers
Congrats to you and your family! I loved the movie, and it made me cry, remembering the day I opened my call. We didn't even get mine on camera sadly, so what a treasure it is to have! I love NC, and I know Kade will love it there!
What a great video! I'm so excited for you and your family and for Kade. It is truely a blessing for everyone involved to have a missionary out serving the Lord and his people. All of those that come into contact with Kade from investigators to companions, his family and himself will benefit from his sacrfice to willingly give two short years of his life. It's a wonderful journey.
I just wanted to say that my son also served in the Raleigh mission and just returned in Janurary. My son served with Elder Banks Kristi's boy. They knew each other from school. It was an awesome place to serve. He loved every minute of it. My son thought he would go forein and when he got settled in N.C. he said, "see I told you I was going some place forein." I'm so happy for you and your family. Enjoy every short minute of it. It goes so quickly.
Congratulations - must say that I personally wished for Denmark !!
OH my goodness I cried the whole time! Congrats. I can't wait till my boys go on a mission. They are 5 and 1. I am a member for the church because of the GREAT work that missionaries do! Thanks for going on a mission and helping others to have eternal families:)
Thank you for sharing this moment with the world-- these moments are the fabric of our lives!! Know that the time goes so fast!! What a special time for you all!! Good luck Elder you will be in our prayers!!
Hi, My name is Emily Shurtleff. I use to live in Highland and Know Karen Clauson, anyways, I just thought I would let you know that I live in Wilmington NC where which is in your sons mission. Also my in-laws live in Fayetteville where my father in law is a bishop. So there is a good chance between us we will be seeing him. The missionaries are a regular at our home. So if he comes I will be sure to let ya know how he is doing. Tell him I said he is going to an awesome place. I love NC.
Congrats Kade! North Carolina is a beautiful area. You will love it! What a wonderful time for your family!
Congrats on NC Kate! What a great mission assignment.
I loved your video...very cool.
Lisa B- - I'm also wondering where I can get that cool frame erase board...I searched and searched the internet too. I bet you could check credit card records from last xmas for the merchant maybe? Or if Steve did a search for the company on the computer...may show up again. Mine is just so office-like in our "mission control" corner of the kitchen. I'd like this one better.
Thanks!!
Congrats to your son.. He will love that mission. We have been back there a few times, and its the best. My husband and brother both served there and loved it. The people are great
Best Wishes to him!!

How wonderful!
We live in SC, but our childrens' godparents are in the Raleigh area (Willow Springs). It's such a beautiful, albeit HOT, part of the country!
Welcome to NC Kade!! I'm from NC -- not too far from Raleigh. You will love it here! We have the mountains 2hrs away and the beach 2 hrs away. Blessings to you on your service. I know you will represent your faith well.
Hey Lisa...Lynda J here! Again, thanks for everything you have done for me...you, Angie and Marcie. As for your dad, I hope he reads this...he has raised a wonderful daughter, who sees things others truly do not. As you know, I lost my dad to Altzheimers on 8/5/2004, 3 days after my birthday. I will never be the same again because of it. Seeing your dad, makes me miss mine so much more...but makes me happy knowing you have such a great relationship with him. Happy Birthday to Lisa's dad...ya'll raised a wonderful girl, let me tell you! I will never be able to repay your kindness.....
Lynda Jeffs
Thornton, Colorado!!! No more Utah girl for me!
To Kade...may you find people you need to in the next 2 years... I have an ex sister in law that needs you.... Good luck, and I am crying as I type...this is neat as heck! Be safe, and find those souls that need to be found sunshine! May who you are be able to be a shining light for people!
