Where in the World is Kade Going Contest!!

I've been waiting for this day for almost 19 years. We've anticipated it for Kade's entire life.

But, it still doesn't make it any easier to know we will soon be saying goodbye. Wednesday is the day Kade will get his mission call telling him where he'll serve as a missionary for our church for two years. He doesn't get to choose where he'll go. It could be anywhere from Boise, Idaho (very close to us), Florida, Greece or Japan. There are 335 missions throughout the world.

A friend (thanks, Cherie) gave me this plaque. This really describes what Kade will be doing:

Another friend (thanks, Shannon) made these cute countdown blocks to use during the time Kade will be gone.

So here's the fun contest! You can go here to see all the places that Kade could go. Choose a place (be specific) and if you're correct, you'll win a pair of my favorite Oobees slippers and a cozy blanket--just what you need to stay warm this winter. Please include your shoe size with you guess.

Here's the deal--he will open his call at 700 p.m. on Wednesday (surrounded by family and friends). Sometime Thursday I will post a a little movie so you can watch the big event too! (I've been watching them on YouTube all weekend and have been bawling my head off!) Soon after that I will post who the winners are!

We've all been guessing around here too. I put a huge Ikea map up for us to guess on.

So where do I think he'll go? I actually have four guesses--Hawaii, Panama City, Philadelphia or Mexico!! Just a mother's intuition. We'll see if I'm right!

Thanks for playing my little game! Hope you're off to a great week.

Sincerely,
Lisa

P.S. Thanks for all your suggestions on how to feel better. After 10 days of feeling very ill, three doctor visits, countless shots and presciptions, I finally went to the chiropractor (first time ever--for some reason I've always been scared to go!) and felt almost immediately better!

P.S.S. The blog posting is slow so if your comment hasn't appeared yet, don't worry. It will probably show up in a few hours!

Oh Lisa! What a blessing that Kade feels led to do this mission. I'm sure it's so tough for your family, but that plaque says it all...

I'll pick Indianapolis, Indiana since that's closest to me! LOL :)

Hope it's somewhere close to you!

Lisa,
Congratulation! Getting to this point is no small task. I was at the EXPO and you told me you had just "hit submit" Emotional! I am guessing Santa Maria Brazil. That is where my son will be going in a few weeks. I was hoping for Boise. That way I could drive there and watch him from a far...leave groceries on his door step...It did not happen. I am very excited to find out where he goes!

Lisa, I am going to guess Italy-Rome. Although, I hope I am wrong and that he can be somewhere in America so that he is close to you. My aunt, uncle, and cousins are Missionaries in West Africa and have been my whole life. It is hard having them so far away, but at the same time, I could not be prouder of them than I already am. I hope that you feel better!

I hope whereever it is, it will be someplace fun! One of my favorite places in the world is Ireland, so I'll guess there.

The slippers and blanket do look nice and warm - but if my guess win, I want you to keep them. When you wrap up in them, think of Kade, and all the good things he's doing and how much you love him and how much he loves you. Kind of a hug in absentia. Can't imagine not seeing my child for 2 years, and I'm sure it will be hard, so extra hugs may help you make it through!

God Bless, Kade!

So excited for your family. I have a son named Kade also. He is 15 and our oldest so we have a few short years left before he goes. He really wants to go to China but I don't think I would hope that on a mother. Kind of scary so I won't guess that. I will pick Sydney Australia instead!! My guess is WA Spokane, where my son is serving! I have told Stacy to keep an eye out for him! Its a great mission and so fun as a Mom to have him in the states! That way I can be creative with the boxes that I send him and I know that he will get them, and I don't have to take a loan out to mail them! Lol.

Good luck with everything. It is a wonderful time and a sad time all at the same time!!

Lisa,

I wish I new what to say to help for when he leaves. It is hard enough when they go off to college as mine did even if we are able to see them as they are just a few hours away. It is never the same having them not in the house. I have a nephew in Iraq right now also and I can not tell you how we feel every night praying for his return next year.
So my heart goes out to you. Hang in there.
I hope he goes to Tokyo Japan so you can go see him and see Makiko and maybe take him to their restraunt. You had a great time where so wow going back would be great.
I will check back to see where he is going. Where ever he goes he is in good hands and we all thank you for what he is about to do.
Take care lisa.

Lisa, I will Campinas, Brazil. That is where my son served his mission. I often thought that having him serve a mission was a leap of faith, for him it meant going somewhere he ahd never been and just jumping right in. FOr me it meant a leap of faith to send my only son thousands of miles away and having faith that he would be taken care of. I always said that it was the "Best-Worst" thing I ever did. THe best because I knew that he was doing what he should be doing and the worst because I missed him more than I ever thought I could. I was SO proud, but felt amiss while he was gone. May God bless your boy and your family!
