Please Send a Note of Comfort to My Dear Friend, Annette Mortensen.

Many of you will recognize the beautiful women in this middle photo. Yes--it's Annette Mortensen, the QVC face of the Simple Scrapbooks for many years. Annette and I became inseparable during high school and our college years. We shared the same wedding dress, have gone on family vacations together, and have remained dearest friends through all these years. (The other gal is one of my best friends since we were three. Both friends were at my house when Kade opened his mission call.)

Tuesday I got a call from Annette that rocked my world. Her beautiful 18-year-old son, McKay, unexpectedly passed away on Monday night.

The family is unbelievably strong and are leaning on their faith at this difficult time. Please write a note of support to Annette and her family. I want her to feel of your comfort and love.

We love you, Spencer, Annette, Becky and Meagan!

God be with you 'til we meet again, McKay.

Lisa

Dear Annette,

I am so profoundly sorry for your loss. Words really seem inadequate to express my sorrow for you and your family. I don't know you, but I found myself thinking about you all day today. I prayed that God would comfort you and meet your needs as only He can; that He will carry you and your fmaily through this dark and difficult time. God bless and keep you.

Annette, having lost 8 members of my family this year, I am "well acquainted with grief." However, having never lost a child, I can't comprehend the depths of your grief. I can only say, that there are days, when I don't think I can make it. There are days if more person says, "Thank goodness families can be together forever." I am going to scream! There are days, when I don't like Heavenly Father's plan at all. Then...there.. starts to be moments that turn into hours, that turn into days, where you feel, "I might just make it through this." When you do feel "peace that passes all understanding." My thoughts travel across the miles, to wish you a numbness that God gives you to block the initial blow....wishing you triumph in the learning....celebration in the ability to get rid of the word "someday" from your vocabulary...celebration in the courage you receive through it all, to pursue the full measure of your creation. Love and prayers from Louisiana

I cannot believe what a small world it is. I remember Annette and her family from when I served my mission in Clemson, South Carolina.(1992) I was blessed to be in their home on severl occasions and to see what a wonderful mother Annette was. McKay and Becky were just young children then. Their family was very instrumental in sharing the gospel with a dear sister, Gladys, who lived down the street from them. I express my sympathy to Annette at this time of great loss and hope she will be comforted by knowing how many lives her family has touched.
