The Sunny Side of Life!
Today I woke up with a screaming headache. You know, the kind where you just want to pull the covers over your head and go back to sleep for the day. I then started thinking about only four more days to spend with my Kade before it's goodbye for two years. I got up, looked outside at the non-sunny, smoggy day, took some Exedrin Migraine medicine (works wonders!) and decided I must seize the day. I got involved in laundry, keeping Sage and her friends busy playing school and helping Kade pack. Collin got asked to Preference a few weeks ago and the big night was tonight. Here in Utah, they not only go to the dance but they do a "day" date also. So--Collin was waiting for his date to pick him up for the day date (paint balling) when I looked down at his fingernails. Sage and her friend, Krisha, had pulled a prank on him the night before while he was sleeping and painted one hand of his fingernails.
He hadn't even noticed and was about ready to walk out the door looking like this!
Then it was a mad rush to find fingernail polish remover and get it off before his date showed up. This gave me a good laugh all day! Can you imagine Collin on his date with purple fingernail polish on?!
Tonight I got another good laugh. Collin was getting ready and Kade was in the bathroom helping him with his hair. They were trying all sorts of products and one of the hairsprays burned Collin's head! We all were laughing so hard! I've never heard of a boy doing another boy's hair for a dance!
The evening was a big success! Collin had fun and his date was adorable.
Another tradition is all the parents meet so we all can get a group picture! What cute kids.
So what started as a "sunny-side down" day became a "sunny-side up" one. It has felt good to laugh!
I'll write again soon!

Just wanted to say -Enjoy those last few precious days with your "Elder". Our second son will enter the MTC just one week after yours, and having gone through the process once before (son #1 returned in October), I know how much those last few days mean to us moms!!
Make loads of memories and they will help you as you wait patiently for the letters and occasional phone calls :)
Cute kids Lisa, glad to hear you made a grey day bright. it takes work sometimes.. but its soooo worth it. Wish Kade much happiness on his Mission. Donna ND
ps I did the nail polish thing to my dad once when I was a little girl he didnt notice it till he got to work. LOL
Beautiful! And the girls look so pretty and tastefully dressed. Around here, oh my, they show ALOT.
I love how all the girls in the group photo all have modest dresses on. Here in California you would NEVER see that. I love that. Hope he had a wonderful time, and glad to hear your day was a fun one. They should all be so much fun.
Best of luck Kade on your journey. Be safe and know that when you miss your mom and she misses you, just look up at the moon. It's amazing knowing that you are both able to see it at the same time no matter here you are.
You just never know what a new day will bring...you might as well make the best of it! Thanks for your great example and best wishes to Kade and your family while he is on his mission.
Excedrin Migraine works! Ah, Lisa, I feel for you. I am so dreading your son leaving because it scares me to death when I think of my sons moving on. Ugh.
Still, this sounded like an excellent day, and I am so glad it turned out so well. Enjoy your time with your precious son. God bless all of you.
Another great Utah tradition- see all the girl in their beautiful modest dress- Beautiful tell them I said so.
I will be thinking about you on Wednesday- My Elder is in Canada and will be home in September- for you at least at first the time will crawl but for him the time will fly- remember he is on the Lords arrand now and there are so many of us that will be praying for him daily.
Good luck to both of you.
Wow! What a great looking group. What nice, modest dresses, too!! Nice to see these days...! Way to go, girls!
Great picture and way to meet the day!
Good luck and enjoy Wednesday.Be prepared to cry everytime you hear "Called to Serve" or the "M" word. The phone call on Mother's Day will be so great!

Two things...what a beautiful girl he got to go on his date with and how refreshing to see an ENTIRE group dressed modestly. Even people in in ward here in California let their daughters wear strapless and sleeveless to these dance and say they just can't find anything else. I will have to show them that they definitely can. You will have to tell us where the girls get their dresses from.
Hi Lisa,
I agree with everyone too, the girls look so nice and the boys are handsome. We don't have dances like that here. I just figured out how to post a comment. Your family is so wonderful all the fun things you do together and for each other. My praryers will be with Kade and with your family. Happy early birthday to you and Sage. My daughter turns 13 right before your Breken does, do you have any ideas of what kind of party you will have. Thanks for sharing your photos and your great ideas. I'm glad your day turned out to be a funny one.
I feel like I know you Lisa. i have two sons also. One graduated high school last year and is off to bootcamp for the airforce. I'm excited for him and sad for me because I will miss seeing him everyday so much. My other son graduates high school this year. He is following in his brother's footsteps and leaves for bootcamp end of summer. Left behind is the little sister who is 7 and adores her older brothers. They are so close with each other and so patient. I feel so incredibly blessed. When I read your blog, (which I started doing because I really look up to you as a fellow scrapbooker) I feel like there is another mom out there who understands what's going on in my life right now. Letting our babies go is so hard but such a moment of pride also. May God bless and keep our children in this next phase of their life and may we feel his presence while we adjust to letting our babies go. :) Rachel
The first thing I noticed was the modest dresses - it is really a problem where we live too.
If you ever have the extra moments and you want to take a peek at my blog and see my family; www.livelovedream~nscrap.blogspot.com I would love a comment :)
Have a wonderful day with Kade.
Rachel *the one who relates with you so well. comment 13**
How refreshing to see all these girls dressed modestly. We live in VA and my children have no desire to go to high school dances because of the standards that aren't there. Kudo's to those lovely YW and their families!
Lisa, just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you today! I have been to the MTC with friends and family members and it is such an emotional day. I'm sure it is a lot harder as a parent, I can only imagine. I will say a little prayer for you and your family today.
It looks like Collin had a great date and has great friends. Your boys obviously have wonderful parents who have inspired and taught them to do well.
Love and prayers for each of you!
I have been thinking about you and your family this morning as you are as you put your first son into the MTC. What a great day. You always hear about "the best two years". Our daughter and sons say it is so true. He'll be safe and happy while he is away doing what he needs to do for this time in his life.
Have a great day.
Thinking of you during this special time in your life. At first I was so sad when I heard you wouldn't be doing QVC anymore, but now I get it. Life with your kids passes so quickly -- I can understand you wanting to be there to enjoy every minute. Best wishes to you and your family!
That nail polish prank is classic. Loved it. And most probably will inspire my daughter to the the same to her brothers when she is old enough. :D Too funny!!!

Cute post! We both woke up with splitting headaches that day...:(
It's Kade's big day today! Hope you're all holding up alright.
Two years will pass before you know it!
(((Big Hug)))
Dear Lisa: I know Kade has probably left for his mission by now and you are feeling sort of lonely, just wanted you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers today. For some reason you have been on my mind so thought I would drop you a note. God Bless you all Donna in Icy North Dakota
Hi Lisa,
I have had you on my mind the last few days....I just can't help it! All I can think of is missing your Kade & how I would feel excited but lonely & sad too. Its made me quick to forget messes, more time reading & cuddling, being "here, in the moment".
I just wanted to let you know that w/o any posts.... I am thinking about you & hope God is blessing you with peace a hug or two!! :)
