The leaves are staring to change here in Utah. They’ve had a slow start due to some amazing weather (I’m not complaining!). We took a Sunday evening drive up in the canyon by our house so we could show Konsti the beautiful colors:
Brecken was in the middle of kitchen stuff so opted not to come. She said, “I’ve seen the leaves before!” That’s a teenager for ya!
We are in the heart of fall activities. Brecken has had a great season so far with this team:
Collin’s Lone Peak Knights varsity football team has thus far not lost a game. Last week’s game was super exciting. The team (Bingham) had not lost on their home turf in over four years. The final score was Lone Peak 48; Bingham 24. Collin plays Defensive End and is a good little sacker and hustler. If you live in Utah, the Lone Peak vs. Pleasant Grove game will be on Thursday night at 7 p.m. (K-Jazz). Watch for number 51, COLLIN BEARNSON! Here he is after his homecoming game with his homecoming date. She had worn his jersey–how cute!
Konsti also went to the homecoming dance–he is really enjoying American high school life. Two days after the dance, the door bell rang late at night and there were balloons all over our front porch with this note: “Konsti, I would BURST with joy if you’d go to Sadie’s with me. Pop the balloons to see who’s asking you!” It definitely put a big smile on his face! Konsti fits in so well with our family. He’s a lot of fun to have around.
Collin also got asked by two girls literally 10 minutes apart from each other. One girl was outfitted in ski attire , laying in a cooler with only her arm hanging out holding Dibbs ice cream and this note: “Collin, it would be ‘cool’ if I had ‘dibs’ on you for Sadie’s! Open Cooler for a surprise.” When he opened the cooler, the girl jumped out and ran off with the cooler! The other girl gave him a bunch of Tootsie Rolls and a big poster that said “Hey ‘Toots!’ ‘Roll’ with me to Sadie’s?” He then had to open all the wrappers to find out who asked him. So fun! The boys then answered back following the same theme in a creative way.
I’ve been doing some Halloween decorating! Love getting out all the Fall stuff!
My Pal, Kristy Banks, surprised me with this “mantel runner” she whipped up over the weekend:
Another pal, Marci Leishman, sent me this photo of a banner she created:
Take a closer look at the details on each “flag:”
There is a precise thin mat around each triangle. Marci has an expensive paper trimmer but swears by the Perfect Layers Rulers for exact cutting every time. It would be impossible to eyeball these and have them look right. I love this tool too! I’ve sold over 30,000 of them on QVC. It was the longest running scrapbook item because it’s very affordable, portable and a must-have in every scrapbooking room. It hasn’t been available for over two years but now it’s back. So–I have a challenge for you! I really want to make a Halloween banner to hang under my mantel so let’s make one together! How about if we are done by a week from Friday? That will give us plenty of time.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Gather Halloween Paper and Halloween accents from your stash.
2. Decide on the saying your want on the banner.
3. Go here for instructions.
4. If you don’t already have the Perfect Layers rulers, go here to order. You will get a discount by ordering this way.
I’m so excited to make a banner with you!
Happy October!
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Love your mantel banner that kristy banks gave to you. Was wondering how the top of it looked? Also, was wondering if she had directions to follow as well??? That is so cute!!! Thanks so much for your help and time. God Bless, Dawn
I have tried several times to get this link to come up for the Perfect Layers ruler but it won’t come up. I tried it a while back when you first made it available again but couldn’t then either. I’ve also tried just doing the perfectpapercrafting.com and can’t get that to work either. Any ideas?
Hi Lisa!
I loved both of the Halloween banners!! I would love to try my hand on the beautiful runner and was wondering if Kristy would share a how-to or more information. Thanks!! Enjoy the beautiful Fall Season!
What cute banners! You have the best friends, Lisa. And the kids too–what fun ways to ask the guys to Sadie Hawkins. The ideas seem to get better every year! Those girls are so creative!
Okay, I clicked on the top pic of y’all to see clearer from where I sit. Oh My Heck!!! When blown up, it looks FAKE it’s so pretty!!! What an amazing view! Love it! Konsti is lucky to have y’all for a host family. He will get the true blue experience of an American family. (He won’t want to leave at the end of the school year…lol).
[...] (I mean, seriously…seriously) and she whipped me up a darling fabric banner (like you see on Lisa Bearnson’s blog today). It’s my new inspiration to finally do something about Halloween [...]
Lisa, please please please tell our friends at QVC that we miss scrapbooking in their programming. I know they think scrapbooking interest has declined, but it so hasn’t! HSN has goodies, but mostly just Cricut and while that’s great, there isn’t the same scrapbooking presentations and quality of products we had on QVC. Thanks!
I have had a perfect layers rulers for years. In fact, I think it was your salesmanship that sold me on it. Bought it off of QVC. I still use it and it’s my favorite matte tool EVER!!
Lisa,
Thank you so much for posting that the perferct layers were back. I bought one years ago from QVC. Love it. Just purchased one for my niece and one just in case. Shared the link with the ladies from our churches monthly crop.
First of all, I love the banner, so adorable! And second of all, isn’t the canyon drive so so beautiful? I love driving it this time of year, totally worth going through the terrible car sickness I get every time, without fail. My Husband and I started a tradition when we were very first married that the last Sunday session of Conference, we always go drive the Alpine Loop and listen to conference on the radio and just enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. But my third of all, kind of blew my mind. Your son is wearing a DP Cheesestaks t-shirt in your picture! My husband is actually co-owner of that restaurant, and I was so surprised to see your son wearing one of their shirts. I called up my husband to tell him about it ( I am a huge fan and read your blog all of the time) and he said they actually haven’t even started selling the grey shirts yet. Does your son know someone who works there? Anyway, I am sure you wanted to know all of that, but I just thought it was so random and just had to say something.
Hi Lisa! I just LOVE the banner. Wondering if Kristy would let us know what pattern it is or if she just whipped it up, maybe some pointers. I would like to make this …this weekend!
Thanks so much!
Do you have the instructions for the Halloween banner from Kristy Banks?
If so could you please send them to me. I would love to do one for my Daughter but in a Christmas theme.
