Sorry I haven’t written for a week. Last Wednesday morning went like this:
I went on a bike ride on a canal near my house. While riding down a very steep, curvy hill, I almost had a head-on collision with a jogger on one of the blind turns. I then overcorrected on the next curve, ran into gravel and my tires spun out, then I couldn’t get out of my clips on my shoes and hit the ground hard.
I had a hard time standing up and was bleeding down the entire right side of my body and had horrible road rash. I also couldn’t use my right arm.
Long story short. After an ER visit they discovered I broke my scapula (shoulder blade). It’s a very rare break–less than 1% of all bone breaks. It usually happens in males from 25-40 who are involved in high-impact sports (motorcycles and biking). I also have a bad case of road rash on my body and a large hematoma on my right thigh. So–not a great week here. At first the orthopedic surgeon thought I might need surgery because of the nature of the break, but fortunately after a CAT scan he feels it will heal with a sling and a lot of rest.
This photo represents it all:
A helmet that literally saved me and clip shoes that nearly killed me!
I am so blessed by all the prayers, well wishes, visits and happy thoughts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
In just three weeks I’ll be on HSN again featuring some really exciting products. I’ll start highlighting them tomorrow.
Hope your Monday is treating you right!
